5 best marvel players in Japan

I honestly don’t see how Frieda is better than Chou, Liquidmetal and a few other players…I think Frieda is famous for being one of the main players that was involved with organizing the japanese marvel scene but I think there’s a number of players that are better than him there.

I’ve been saying it before but Chou and DIE-chan(as well as the obvious ABEGEN) are crazy good players and should be on top of the list. Liquidmetal might be the best Magneto player I’ve seen as well and plays a much more interesting Phoenix than most players do. Also GX is underrating himself, that guy is easily the best Hulk player I’ve seen and his Spencer and Phoenix Wright are pretty nasty.

Also Jeo is a beast, running Morrigan, Wesker, Strider.

All right so top 5 Japanese Marvel players IMO would be:
1: Kusoru no doubt. Dude has the killer edge to be a great tourney player. Not just a great Marvel player.
2: Abegen. He is the closest to being in the same league as Kusoru. In fact if he had gotten first place at our final ranbat we would have sent him instead of Kusoru. Their point totals were neck and neck throughout the season.
3: Frieda. Solid throughout. However it seems the nerves gets to him sometimes. At least has experience playing in the big US tourneys.
4: Starts getting iffy here. Spin King I would say because he is a staple at SBO. However he is a pretty laid back guy. I dont feel like he has that need to win hunger in him. He will beat many players in a first to 10 casual though.
5: Chou. Uses top tier characters. Has good fundamentals. Still unproven in my eyes. Will need to see more.

Close but no cigars to: Liquidmetal, Yuki, Tack, Udaterasu, Kyami

I talk a lot about intangibles because I firmly believe those are the things that sets everyone apart. Michael Jordan, Kobe, Joe Montana, prime-tiger woods, etc. all had that extra something above their great talents that made them career winners. Thats why you see people like Daigo and Jwong be dominant in so many games for so long. and due to the lack of things like real coaches and such, people who are near the cusp of eliteness have a hard time breaking through. Some people might be able to break it out on their own, seems like Wolfkrone is at that stage.

On the real, if you talk about fundamentals and general control of the game America is still far ahead of Japan. Just the combination of unfamiliar characters and running into an elite player was what did them in. If America studies Joe, Frank, Raccoon enough there’s a great possibility he wouldnt win another major if we sent him to all of em(too bad we cant). But he would still mos def place top8 in alot of them, BELIEVE IT.
EDIT: the reason for this is the Japanese players have played against Kusoru enough times to have a good understanding against his team. If the player is good enough Kusoru *will *change his style. He was basically in troll mode the whole tournament this time. He really wanted to give everybody watching a good show.

Regarding the first to 10 against Jwong, Kusoru bodied him a few times and Jwong figured Iron Fist was impossible against his team so he switched to Felicia and ran it back a lot to make it close. There is no real Felicia player in Japan.

Frieda gets extra points from me because hes played in two US majors now Evo and FR. Also people who have played in SBO in other games get extra points as well. Thats why I have Spinking at 4th even though I dont believe he will get beyond top8 at best. That big stage experience helps alot.

Unfortunately for GX, as of right now, he is the biggest choker. He has been to every one of our tourneys and has only gotten past the 2nd round once or twice. So until he figures it out he wont be in my top 5 or even the CBNC category.

Everyone else is just based on potential.
