meh… these tournies were never really good in the first place. Its always been 10 here 10 there. Not many entrants. I expected atleast 10 for each game for the SF side though… GGXX has always been good cause kenji and clayton draw alot of comp. Tekken 5 is hot right now so I would expect alot. Everything else like all the SF games and Soul Calibur 2 are just dying off.

No MI at a ohio tourny just means one state not reppin…there are 50 more to attract. How to get them here are in the planning and risk. Which can be expensive but if you want good turnouts and noise for your tournaments you have to take a risk.
I know I dont mind paying an entree for a huge turnout…especially when I know there are gonna be mad heads there and the people that are throwing know what they are doing.
we had 16 for both cvs2 and 3s at the last one. that’s pretty solid for around here.

and MI brings TONS of players, like 2 cars full, so MI is an essential part of these tournaments. and i don’t have the kind of money to front the kind of bonuses to attract people from cali or NYC.
we basically just need to coordinate things better and make sure the main states that usually come can make it and don’t have conflicting events going on.

Fugee - I’m mistaken it appears, but when I see you running 3S brackets, you taking 3S money, you telling me no AE again, and you trying to explain to me something about CFJ not being run after I made that comment about that game, it just seemed real likely to me that you were the guy in charge of the Capcom stuff. I’m gonna go ahead and guess that you also ran the MvC2 tournament. Am I right or wrong? I seriously don’t know but I’m sure you did. Maybe you’re just the messenger of bad news but you are the person who has told me the last two or three times that ST or AE is out. Mycah had that job before you a couple times. :sad: But you say it wasn’t you who is responsible so I’ll forget about you in all this and move on to the next in line, the way I see it…
Danny - Dude what happened? You ran your CvS2 tourney simultaniously while Fugee ran 3S. Then you come to me a bit later in a hurry telling me something about a dinner date I think (I honestly didn’t catch it all as I was focused on some other things). Now with Fugee saying he had no part in this it looks to me that you bailed on a few tournies. NOT COOL! And as you can see already by just a few people (about 3 or 4 already) you had people that wanted to play these badly. Some were looking forward to these more than any of the other tournaments. Again, what happened? The Capcom end of the deal spun crazily out of control and turned into 3 games splitting time on 2 tv’s…MK Trilogy, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and some Bomberman game. My advice to you…go to the May’n Event and talk to my buddy Eugene and learn from him how to put some unique spins on tournaments and how things like that should be run.
Jin - You’re not exactly spotless in this either. Now I don’t know ya real well and from the brief contact I’ve had with you these past 2 Ohio tournies you’re cool by me overall, but when I see you swapping anyone’s bracket positions just because they asked you to (you did this at least 2 times in Tekken from what I saw) and when you don’t exactly do the matchups right (if you still have access to brackets, check how often Dave had to play Purple Rain…almost consecutive matches) then it kinda puts a slight damper on things. http://www.bracketmaker.com

Anyway, you should give it a try next time and play some of these games that you’re on the fence about. And although I have still never seen the game and hence know zero about it, congrats on your awesome finish at Rumble Fish. Yeah seriously, never seen it. I didn’t make it over into that other room until it was over. Hehe.

For one look at the last recent capcom tournies that was held at ohio/mwchallenge3 and others…turnout was pretty sad at those as well.I totally expected this and didn’t practice anything capcom realted at all and just played reload a few days before the tourney. Just blame it on rest of the midwest not playing either just one game or not caring at all(More so on the latter). And I used to wonder why the midwest(smallletters for emphasis)aside from a few players suck at fighting games… :rolleyes:

Ghaelon has really come up a bit. Juicy is a good 3s player who repped pretty hard and Brent made a pretty good showing in beating Ghaelon for 2 place. Good matches all around and I think I’ll have to get back into the game now since people are showing a bit more skill. See ya’ll at the next tournament.

yes, i had a date party at UK to go to, that’s why i didn’t stick around for mvc2 and the other tournaments.
and i don’t know how to run brackets AT ALL, the only reason i knew how to do the round robin for cvs2 is because it was 4 people and they did RR at texas showdown.
my role in these tournaments is generally to bug j1n to get a room, then make the tournament post, then hype it up big time. as for the actual tourney day, since i don’t know how to run brackets and fugi has done mvc2 brackets at big majors, he usually takes care of those. ryan (infantry) ran some also, but he’s back in colorado.
idk, poor communication and a shitty turnout plagued this tourney, at least for the capcom side. we’ll take some time off to figure everything out, then have one later.

About the tourney: I don’t really know the specifics of who was in charge of what, but WTFWTFWTF, how did Capcom have ONE TV before I showed up?
Tournies canNOT be advertised as “we’re having these games” but whoever is in charge of running them passes the buck in terms of equipment. Maybe one of those TVs in the 3-D/GG room should have been for Capcom, as we couldn’t even have CFJ (no biggie) or ST/AE (very not cool). And we got kicked out the room even at 5 when it was supposed to be reserved all day.
Somebody really dropped the ball here, and people are right in saying OH tournies will be shit until the organizers know what they doing. Not pointing fingers in particular but it’s gotta be said.
All that said, I had a great time, haha. 14 or so of the region’s best Marvel & 3s is enough for me, so hope to see you guys back if the next is better organized.
Well I really enjoyed the tournament. (Well… It was my first tournametnt) Despite placing last in the Rumble Fish, it was the first time I’ve played the game, so I think I did fairly well. I was kinda mad that I had to leave at 6:00, because I was having a good time playing bomberman. j1n, you can just put Chicago for my location, Glenview is a suburb of it. Hopefully there will be better turn out in future TRF tournaments, but I will be much better; I can guarantee you that. :tup:
lol thanks… as for mwc I dunno even if i started playing again and got pumped up since its on arcade now I dunno. Yea its ps2 and arcade but what if someone made me play on arcade, i just cant play gg on arcade. Plus cheese master is might be moving in the near future, and he would be the person I would go with if I went so with out him chances are even more doubtfull. =[ Sorry good luck to all you guys though!
