Renegade TX2000: I want you to go to the Super Turbo subforum, and make a thread saying Afrolegends was wasting his time trying to get into Super Turbo so late into the game.
for about a month i didn’t play oe but i played a lot yesterday and psn seems to have a decent number of people. i’m actually surprised. skill level is around the same. some of the really bad scrubs are gone and replaced by other new people who probably bought the game recently at the discounted price or whatever. and that sean scrub who has played ten thousand ranked matches and is #1 because of it is still there. either way there are some passable matches to be had i guess.
if i had to pick one reason why it seems like a timewaster it would be because the good players (i am also guilty of this) dont really communicate or add anybody to their friends list. they just play ranked or in random lobbies. maybe its sadder than i thought and a lot of us have made it to the point where we’re using the game to pass time instead of get better at it or play in good (by online’s standards) matches.
afrolegends is a well known pro, that takes games to the next level. He probably did it because he had time on his hands. For the people that don’t have times like his but want to be great at a game. 3rd strike isn’t the game. NEXT!
Renegade, you can say whatever else you want and I’m not likely to get fired up into debating it with you, but please don’t suggest that we’re wasting our time. If we’re doing something that we love to do, then it’s not a waste. That’s a life truth, and if you somehow haven’t learned it yet, you should do so. You’ll enjoy life a lot more.
So you’re saying…people that don’t feel like putting in the time and effort into getting good at a game should just play SF4 and UMvC3?
Way to compliment the current fighting game community, pal.
P.S.- The only person wasting their time is you.
I think this forum here is really the hub. If top players here offered to play people online and teach them things, I think you’d see the community of people who actually give a damn about the game get better. The new folks would have to humble themselves a bit, but if they were really into the game, I don’t think it would be an issue.
You can’t really get better beyond a certain point playing Ranked anyway because there are no rematches. It becomes a contest to see who has the better gimmick because you know you’ll never play that person again and they won’t get a chance to adjust to the way you play. The Matchup mode is the one complaint I really have about 3SO because it just seems so anemic. Why WOULDN"T you want to have a rematch against someone, even in Ranked?
Why are you even here if you don’t play the game?
I mostly use OE to play offline because it’s better than using cheats in MAME to practice.
Right now i’m basically a truant and haven’t been down to dtown in way too long. But honestly that sort of completed my attitude about 3S. That group of guys is awesome. Everyone is accepting, everyone is ‘serious’, everyone wants to talk about 3S. We (maybe I should say they since I haven’t been in a while now) have one of the best ryu’s on the east coast with experience playing in japan. one of the best akuma’s on the east coast with xp playing in japan. not to mention everyone else (myself included) who aren’t slouches and are genuinely into becoming ‘good’ players.
I can understand that if you don’t have something like that, it feels somewhat pointless. But that just means you need to make that happen. I felt hopeless until I realized dtown wasn’t THAT far and decided I needed to go check it out. definitely one of the best decisions i’ve ever made. even if it is just a bunch of dudes playing semi serious casuals (playing to learn) it’s the people who keep you engaged and excited to keep improving. you don’t need 23489028349082 players though, you just need a couple guys with a similar objective.
He plays, he’s just trying to tell us his excuses for being bad at the game.
I’m sorry but after reading some of the comments here, I gotta get my two cents in.
For those who say 3rd Strike is dead because it wasn’t rebalanced…
FUCK YOU.
You pieces of shit demanding re-balance for every little thing are the reason why fighting games are in the sorry state they are. You have contributed to the handholding mentality that has ruined such a great genre. Capcom sucks your dick and because of scrubby bitches like you, we get Marvel 3 and HD Remix . I blame you sycophants for the abomination that is HD Remix, a shell of one of the best games ever made. A game that didn’t need to be remade and stripped of everything that made it great and that people loved. I hate you with every fiber of my being and hope you leave this community and never come back.
PS: I don’t care if I get banned or infracted for this comment. I’ll go out with a bang. Fuck Capcom, fuck the casual market they cater to and fuck scrubby pieces of shit who can’t play a fighting game properly so they bitch and whine for the easy way out.
Never before have I felt this comment was appropriate except for right now: You mad bro?
Was gonna drunkenly post something like this. Lol you pussies and yr hippie suburban parents are the reason I have to play shitty fighting games now lol! Laugh, it’s meant to be funny!
Simpler game you mean either mash friendly or simpler controls, movesets like the marvel vs capcom series.
3rd strike not being user friendly depends on the character you play and your opponent. What you seem to find as advantage on your part is considered as match up knowledge and better adapting to your patterns from the more experienced player. Therefore, losing comes naturally in the beginning.
You’re right, I haven’t checked Dustloop out in awhile, and I certainly haven’t looked at the GG section here on SRK, but I’ve talked to, and “hang” with, a bunch of GG players and I never heard anything like that from them, but of course them =/= not the whole player base. But, what’s so bad in playing on old hardware exactly, other than the logistics involved in having to drag along x amount of PS2’s? And coming to sticks, I’d assume most GG players already have PS2 sticks, but if some newer folk want to give the game a try, they could invest in one of those nifty multi mods. But other than that, I still kinda say there’s no need for it, it runs just fine on PS2, and on PC if you’re into Ronline, unlike 3rd strike.
Didn’t I just say I checked out HDR? I even own the game. And aside from the stuff I said, there’s really nothing wrong with it in my oppinion. I’ve never played it online, but I hear it’s abysmal. Marvel 2 I don’t know about, care to tell me something about it or redirect me to some info? But anyway, what I did check out quite indepth was 3SOE, and for one I never heard that the game would be using the DC version as a base, unless that was leaked onto Unity forums which I didn’t read because you know, Unity forums, most of my information comes from PR (Derek Neal & co.) and this forum and nothing suggested 3SOE would turn out as it has. About waiting for reviews of the game or trying it out at a friend’s place, that you can again put into being a tool and giving into the hype. But for having certain expectations on this product based on how Capcom handled it’s previous ports, I got really nothing else than I thought HDR was okay, but since 3SOE wouldn’t be such as radical like HDR, I sort of brushed it off and just hoped for the best.
The only gameplay affecting bugs are the characters turning invisible, which still happens even with the latest patch, and that the super meter lengths are different. The rest is mostly nitpicking, but what can you expect from a fangroup? But they’re still legit complaints, programming errors like characters’ colors getting swapped, the game freezing and music cutting off doesn’t really show any sort of sign of quality if you ask me. Other than that, you’re right, the game does run in a more correct speed and things behave more closely to the arcade (akuma’s f+mp) but still overall it left a bitter taste in the mouth of many players who were expecting more, as again was repeatedly promised.
Basically, you said it’s pointless to port any old game.
No offense but you just seem to search an excuse to not play a game you don’t event seem to know/like.
The tournament/money point is irrelevant unless you’re JWong/Tokido (ie. FG omniscient) or you’re into that crappy e-sport thing: you don’t learn a game to make money matches or to go/win a tourney, not at first, not until you know you’re any good and/or you like the game enough.
=( fuck me? =( lol. it’s true brah, live with it. btw i’m not just speaking for myself i’m speaking FOR the majority of the people that quit. I’m just the “voice” since none of them wants to comment on about it and i’m the only one telling you why it died. Just saying, lol. You mad?
pretty much, thanks for noticing =d but I said it’s okay to play it for fun, I still play my power stone on the dream cast but I won’t host any tournaments over it. New games and rules place old ones, if you can’t keep up with the current then you’ll be playing in the minority.
the more fighting games that come out the more 3OE will die and that’s just that. Also cause it wasn’t “re-balanced” it died even faster +D
So basically, you’re representing a bunch of pussies who quit 3S because they kept getting bullied by the vets and wanted to make some half-assed excuses. Sounds to me like the only one mad is you. No one else would try to cover up their own insecurities this much with a billion excuses for failure.
Well it looks like we’re never gonna get anywhere with this guy. Have fun with your sparkly new games with the other broken down men and cry all you want while mashing on SF4 and never getting to the level that you’re oh so against in any other game.
you truley mad… lmao, btw they aren’t “pussies” btw one guy pretty much explained it by saying veterans don’t help out anymore, and then it’s an old game in the process doesn’t help at all and makes it that much harder/worse, I made my valid point and you mad cause i’m expressing my valid opinion =d. Give it another year and 3OE will be worse then it is now.
HELL YOU GOT A THREAD SAYING 3SOE dead? LOL enough said.
People who play don’t help? Please look around the boards here and see how many posts are responded to with links to vids, frame data, other threads with specific discussions, etc.
You miss the point that no one cares if 3SOE is dead or not. No one who actually plays regularly or has any desire to. GGPO still works fine and there are still people all over the place who get together and play regularly.
