For people talking about waiting several minutes to find random games… you should have learned by now… after using every online fighting game that exists… that you never use the “quick match” function. Ever. In any game. Go to “find a room” or wtver and select from the list. Boom… you found players and are waiting your turn. How hard?
And what if I wanna play ranked games? -.-" Like, there is no such thing as “Join a Ranked game…” it auto searches everything so no rooms pops up like it does in “Player games”.
And yeah, HOW do you change to NAT 1? I tried to do that for several hours with DMZ and shit but I only got NAT 2.
The ranked matches are glitched, and Capcom is fixing it. Patience is awesome.
Still haven’t played ranked. Trying to learn this game instead. It feels off from what I remembered from the Arcade but maybe I am just ignorant.
Can’t upload replays, can’t play matches, can’t do anything online after the update, apparently.
have u guys never played GGPO or something? its not perfect, i think u were expected too much. it isnt a magical entity that cures all online fighting game problems
It’s not really GGPO. GGPO itself is working fine in game.
The problem is just things like how the game finds matches, the way lobbies are set up, the interface. I mean, they could have put some more effort in and tried to refine the interface, to make it quite nice to use. But it’s a load of crap, to be honest.
The fact that you can’t even search people in your region and that it pairs you to whoever comes first isn’t done well at all. It’s just badly done.
In about 3/4 of an hour, I’ve probably found 6 games that I’ve been able to connect to without some connection error or being returned to the main screen. Even SFIV online isn’t that bad.
Starting to feel like this is yet another fighting game that I’ve wasted money on. Don’t get me wrong, I really like 3S and want to play it, but it feels like such a chore atm. Only 8 slot lobbies available for Player matches, sure you can set most slots to private, but it’s not really the same thing if I want to search for 2 player lobbies myself, and when I host people won’t see it as a 2 player lobby.
So if I don’t feel like sitting and waiting in a 8 man lobby, I’ve got to do ranked matches, but there you can only Quick Join and 90% have been red bars. I find matches quite fast, sometimes it times out, but most of the time I find them, but it’s always people from japan or usa judging by the connection, so it’s just a huge warpfest. The best I’ve gotten is a few yellow bars, and yes, I’m on a good connection. I have a few people on my friendlist who play 3S:OE, and I ran a few sets with a guy, but if that one person isn’t online, it’s pretty much dead.
I guess it’s pretty much only US and JP people playing? Was the same thing with both BB:CT and BB:CS (MvC3 got empty pretty quick as well, but that was w/e for me), really enjoy the games, but it feels like I’m stuck with trials and training mode. KOF13 looks really cool as well, but I know it’ll be the same thing with that. If I wan’t to play people I have to go back to sf4, which is ok if you find someone fairly good to play against, but super boring otherwise.
Really wanted to play a lot of 3S (played a bit on ggpo before, but nothing much) and get better at it so that I could play less sf4, but it seems impossible atm
/depressed
i feel the same way.
The online is amazing, you guys must have shitty connections or just terrible luck. Ive played about 20 ranked matches in under an hour, have had no trouble finding them. Out of the 20, maybe 1-2 were a little laggy here and there but other then that it was a really great experience. I don’t really see myself playing lobbies/ranked because I have friends that are more experienced on my friends list, would rather run casual sets with local people that aren’t in the process of learning the game still. As far as that goes, me and my friend are both on shitty wireless, we played about 40 games and I honestly felt like there was no lag at all. I’ve been playing 3s on ggpo for about 5 years solid, going to Family and Denjin arcade every now and then with friends aswell, I’ve experienced the game on both elements (offline/online) and can vouch that this really is a better experience than GGPO PC.
I agree that waiting around in a 6 player lobby is annoying and I think Derek should really consider implementing a quick game option that puts you in a que for a 2 man lobby so you get to play right away. I also would like to choose my opponents based on connection like in SSF4, but I don’t see that happening for a PSN/XBL game.
Is this game garbage? No it isn’t, it plays amazingly on the correct setup and GGPO settings(input-delay). Best online experience I’ve had in a fighting game, and I’ve played plenty of online SSF4/MK9/MvC3/MvC2.
My setup consists of.
PS3 slim. (hooked up through ps3 composite cable)
CRT TV. (28 inch)
Shitty Wireless. (50% connection)
Hori V3 PS3 Stick.
Things to stay away from.
Laggy HDTV’s
PS3/XBL Converters of any sort.
Shitty Wireless
GGPO Setting: Input Delay: 0 <— THIS SHOULD ONLY BE USED IF YOU ARE PLAYING SOMEONE HELLA CLOSE TO YOU, INCREASE IF YOU PLAY ONLINE AGAINST RANDOM PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD.
If you truly like 3s, you’ll deal with the problems till they are fixed, even if they aren’t fixed I know I’ll still be playing this because quite frankly I haven’t experienced the terrible “input-delay” “laggy bullshit” games you guys have, kind of a shame really because I wish everybody was enjoying this as much as me. Though the bugs are fucking annoying, but they will be patched forsure. I feel like Deviljin with these long ass posts I’ve been making lately.
If only I could play during the day, hahaha. I can only get on between midnight and 6am, so a huge portion of the people I find online are laggy at best. Inviting friends is by far the best way to play, though, werd.
I just tried to get a ranked match for 15 minutes and gave up… This is ridiculous.
im finding matches pretty easy, got at least 100 matches in already and i just got the game last night
i think the online is horrible. just my taughts.
but i dont blame capcom i mean the game is just out. but i think they could try and fix up the ranked matches…
when i play players from america there always on yellow or red,
i think there should be a way to play people like there was in ae, select your own region,#
im not sure if oe has that or not i have not been able to find it.
anybody else not able to play player matches or ranked matches ?
it takes me a while to find matches in ranked or whatever but once I’m in a match the game runs very smooth even on yellow connections, sometimes even on red it’s quite playable
I was playing with a friend recently (Indiana to Florida) and it felt like we were in the same room
this is on Xbox though, I hear PSN is not very good for this game but I haven’t bought the ps3 version yet
Its fine for ps3, people are just retarded, lol.
I think I’ve had smoother/less laggy games on pc ggpo than xbox ggpo. I’m certain it’s not my Internet since I’m plugging it in directly.
Any explanation as to how come free 3s ggpo plays better than a xbox version of ggpo which I am paying for? Is there anything I can do besides change the delay settings?
This game works like offline for me vs other local players from a close radius, and that’s all I really expect from a good online.
(setup- ps3+crt+wired)
Mmm yeah. I have a good router good internet and I port foward, and I constantly get red and yellow pings that are full of rollbacks and are damn unplayable. The rare greens are nice, but still have rollback which just pisses me off. Id rather have visible lag than hear KO and see my opponent alive and kickin or hit confirm into super only to have it blocked after it hits.
How fast is your internet, and where do you live?
I get green connections mostly, I also get yellow ones that are very playable.
