So it is true… the longer a conversation goes, the higher the probability that we talk about either nazi’s, hitler, religion, or A3 at evo.
I assure you when either 1) emulation becomes legit for tournaments, 2) we stop caring if its legit and do it anyway, 3) capcom decides to make the capcom ‘almost classic’ collection with A3 or 4) we relabel A3 for Dreamcast as A4 and noone notices., then it will be trivial to add it to the lineups of most tournaments, which in turn will return it to evo.
The funny thing is that there’s all this about A3, when you could just have one, i mean the boards can be there (i think), the players are there, FF can do it so can you! Have the realest really for real A3 tourney with all the realizzt players and record it and lets sell some side dvds.

1, N-Cubed is on arcade, so yes, even if they did dominate, it was arcade :D.

4, Lets see, on the note about #reload, we didn’t have a team that went, so even then we can’t really say much about how the team that won (even though people doesn’t see it legit, but that goes for every team that made it anyway) would do. It was console cause it’s a game that’s not even here in the states that most arcades doesn’t have (I don’t know the reasoning behind this, our arcade here in Reno is getting one so i’m happy). That’s a legit reason, but having games that’s avaliable in the arcades and putting it on console is another.
5, Hehe yea, he did poorly in Absolution and guess what props to the guy that beat him, but: SBO = 1 game, 1 game = unpredictable. Did you know that Mago was gonna sweep the team they faced in the finals?? Even Tokido/Ino/Ohnuki can’t win, and Daigo didn’t really have that strong of a team (from my point of view) in either of the games he Qualified for in SBO. :D.
Anyway, go go 3S, but hopefully all these doubts and questions about the PS2 version will be cleared before Evo :D.

That maybe true if you live in apart of the usa that has a good arcade scene. But if you look around the country arcades are dying at an alarming rate. In 2-3 years the traditional arcade will be dead. Yea, maybe some major cities will still have arcades, but for the most part arcades are dead in the USA. I’m not lucky to live in a state that has a great arcade scene. We use to, but the arcades don’t care about the gamers anymore, thus our arcade scene is dead in Atlanta, Ga. Everyone would rather play on an arcade cabinet, but you have use what you have. I’ll be there and I won’t let that stop me from having fun during my vacation.
Hmm. I just notified the Saitama 3s players about the change from Supergun to PS2. They’re not exactly happy, since in Japan 3s is released on July 2st, and that gives them less than a week to try it out before Evo, since that’s on July 29th and they plan on getting to California a bit earlier than that. When the game is released, RX will be testing it, and if anyone knows timing and details about 3s, he’s your man. I’ll post whatever details are listed in an existing thread if there is one, by that time.
Edit: Oh, one more thing. Because CvS2/MvC2 are on Dreamcast instead of PS2, this means they need to bring two sticks instead of one if they play CvS2 and 3s/GGXX#r. The only bad thing about the DC versions of any game is that apparently, in Japan, there is no such thing as a decent Dreamcast joystick. i’m sure some players beg to differ, but, again, yuck.

I can’t think of a stick that doesn’t work with a DC convertor. If they can find a decent PS2 joystick then that should be fine. If they want a real sanwa they should hit up armad, see if he’ll get them 2 joysticks, and then they are set forever. They might need more if they want to casual with them but minimum that would work.
We will have PS2 to DC converters for all the Dreamcasts. All you have to bring is a PS2 stick and it will work for all the tournaments.
I’ve never actually been to QuakeCon (or Evo, for that matter) but do Quake/UT/Counter Strike players bitch this much when they are presented with a tournament with this many options? Do they feel the computers that are provided to them for the event are in some way… inferior? I’ll tell you this much: I have never felt comfortable playing in ANY arcade with ANY fucking cabinets ever.
There has always always been something different with each and every cabinet, so what the fuck am I supposed to base my “real gameplay” off of? If I remember correctly, Buk was recently saying that most every CvS2 machine in the world has some weird shit going down, where all of the speeds are vastly different. Something along the lines of “the CvS2 machine at SVGL is different from the one at MGL, and the CA machines are different from the NY machines, and the US machines are VERY different from the JPN machines.” So if all of these potential factors were to come in to play, every player in the world would have to worry about these problems, JUST to play CvS2.
- Apparently every CvS2 machine varies in speed diffferences. There however is no explanation for this, you just have to deal with it.
- Some of the arcade layouts for buttons are different. I’ve seen some cabinets converted from old FISHING games, which could “potentially” throw off my gamplay right? Since it doesn’t feel like what I “should” be playing on. A regular cabinet, right?
- Some joysticks are obviously 360, and some are 8 way. That right there changes gameplay. Happens a lot in arcades, so you have to deal with whatever you’re handed.
- Button/Joystick malfunctions.
- Screen adjustment.
ETC.
You see what I’m saying? ALL of this shit could “potentially” play a factor in my gameplay, and this is just for ONE fucking game. I don’t touch any other game competetively, so I’m sure there are a lot more games with these problems, and probably more. A keen example is 3S. On top of the most obvious problems I presented to you above, you people also have to worry about arcade to console differences. While I can enjoy CvS2 on DC knowing that it is pretty close to arcade perfect, you have to worry about what could potentially effect YOUR gameplay from arcade to console, and so on. At least with consoles, I know I have MY joystick, with the SAME DC game, with the same gameplay. I might be nervous, and I might be sitting on a stool as opposed to my comfy leather chair, but it is the same game. Granted, it’s a different game from the arcade, but from what I’ve experienced in my 5 years of attending arcades: every machine is different in some way, shape or form.
Every arcade I’ve been to in the WHOLE WORLD has had a different “feeling” of gameplay. I go to SVGL, the CvS2 cabinet feels different from the cabinet here in Reno, which is technically a Capcom made CvS2 cabinet. Am I supposed to base ever cabinet off of this one machine? I don’t. I base my gameplay off of where I play most, and that’s at home. Whether you like it or not, 90% of the fighting community practices at home. Arcade perfect or NOT, the fighting community plays at home.
I find it funny how Apoc (obviously an excellent player) says that most of the “hardcore” players laugh at the thought of playing Street Fighter at home “competetively.” Why, may I ask? Because it doesn’t “feel” right? Because the arcade emit’s a sent that no other place on Earth can replicate? Because you can grab a bowl of nachos and sip a coke and enjoy watching random people play games? If there is no noticable difference in arcade to console, what exactly are you missing? I don’t know about you people, but I play fighting games because I enjoy them. You know, because they’re fun. I don’t need a smelly guy walking around with a bag of frito’s in his hand to get the gameplay experience I yearn for. I like CvS2 because it’s fun, on console or otherwise. I will always prefer the arcade, but when it comes down to playing seriously: I can play seriously in any conditions.
And once again: what the fuck have the japanese said about playing on consoles. Are they with it/against it? Wasn’t that Daigo feller complaining that playing on console at Absolution threw him off a tad? Is it any indication that he hasn’t won any major tournament in the last few years? SBO? SBO2? Evo 2k3? Absolution?
