Or don’t supajump!@
Hello. I have a little favor to ask.
Basically, I’m looking for a easy, finesse-less, beginners character with a great “blitzkrieg” offense, clear cut strategy, no unnecessary movement (wall jumps, too many karas) and none-too difficult combos.
I know this is asking for a lot in 3s since its all about finesse, but i hope you can help.
I have a main, BTW, its Chun. This question is for my dad.
I’m thinking of having him learn q, since Balrog is what both srk and myself have suggested that guy for him (in ST), and q is at least slightly like balrog.
That’s Ken. Q is the antithesis of a rushdown character.
Alex might be better though. Many simple high damaging combos and his more difficult techniques aren’t really necessary for mid level play.
hi, I’m new to 3s (only started playing this yr and am really only vsing comp. on MAME lol).
I love watching japan 3s and just have a few questions.
when I parry a jump-in, should I just wait b4 they reach the ground b4 trying to punish? should I only wait when I parry a late jump-in cos when I parry an early jump-in attack, I’m pretty sure they have time to just low block when they land (note: I play vs comp. and they always block but I wana start playing on ggpo but my can’t seem to open my ports)
This might be for the character-specific section but I like to use gouki and ibuki.
If I anticipate a jump-in I try to SJ air tatsu with gouki but when I don’t and happen to parry the jump-in, would it normally be best to w8 until they hit the ground then do low forward->sa1.
With ibuki, if i parry the jump-in, should I always do close roundhouse launcher into the plethora of things she can do (I only know like 3 follow ups to that).
Sorry, that was a bit long-winded but I have one more question.
U guys talk about teching throws on reaction; by on reaction, u’re still largely anticipating the throw (eg. ken c.shortX2 dash throw). Like u have to input the throw while ken is dashing up or do you have time to input it after the dash?
Thx in advance
Oh and if I could ask another question,
How does ground cross-up work? Like when other dude is knocked down and u’re dashing; I’ve seen some matches when you dash onto the other side of the person.
Again, thx in advance.
It depends on your opponent’s character, their skill level, and knowing what the best option are for your character really. Generally, if your reactions and execution are fast enough, you should be able to nail a punishment against most jump-ins reliably if you are using fast-starting moves (shoryus, etc) regardless of whether or not the jump-in was late.
I’m not qualified to talk about Gouki’s and Ibuki’s punishments. Sorry!
Technically you have time to reaction-tech (about 2 or 3 frames), but realistically it is just anticipation. I mean, I would have input the throw command when seeing Ken dash to actually throw him, but if he got the throw in before me then at least I’ve teched it.
thx very much.
dw im extremely noob, only started playing this year on MAME against comps (and it’s my first street fighter) but I go on GGPO now and again. Like I still have trouble just focusing on finding patterns in my opponents and formulating my actions according (mainly cos I have no idea what I’m doing (lol y isn’t there a recent ibuki matchup thread))
Recently, my controllers have been acting up; and until I can get them replaced, I’ve been forced to stop playing my mains (Elena, Makoto) and start playing shotos (Ken, Ryu).
Ken is a top tier character, so when I win with him it feels like I’m cheating . . . it’s not cheating, is it?
if someone calls that cheating, they are a scrub
Yun SA3 = cheating.
do you get it?
you
you’re a scrub
I already know I’m a scrub, I don’t need to be reminded . . .
What’s the latest tier list for the game?
If i want to play this game, should i play it through GGPO or 2DF? I’m kind of new to matchmaking through PC.
i personally have been using 2df as I can’t get GGPO to work, but apparently GGPO is where all the cool cats hang out
OK I’m gonna ask this here… Cos I couldn’t find it anywhere else and didn’t know where else to post it so here goes… (even though I asked somewhere else and got no reply)
Is it possible to play 3S using the xbox anniversary edition on a 360 using a TE? Cos I wanna play 3s again and don’t wanna play with a damn pad.
Personally, I found 2DF to run 3S much better, but ggpo does have a better community, I think. Either way, I only use GGPO now since I can’t run 2DF.

I haven’t actually tried it myself, but I can’t think of a reason why it wouldn’t be possible.
Makoto > Gill > Chun > Yun > Everyone else
you think this game will become DLC anytime soon?
I need help with short, short > super.
I have a hard time performing this with any character that uses it (Shotos, Dudley, etc.). I can do it, but is there a reliable way of pulling it off? I usually grind out a QCFx2 motion in the bottom corner of the gate (square) during the short short, but I find that I end up doing a SRK or some other move all too often…
I especially need help with short, jab, short > super. When do you start the motions for the super so it doesn’t come out too early?
Appreciate the help.
