I tend to refer to the buttons in the oldschool way they were labeled on World Warrior. So, likesay, it goes (punches) Jab-Strong-Fierce and (kicks) short-forward-roundhouse in order of weakest attack to strongest attack.
To prevent confusion, sometimes I say mk instead of forward when referring to the button, so it doesn’t sound like I’m speaking of the direction. In that case it’s lp-mp-hp and lk-mk-rk.

well i know that to parry an unblockable you have to parry in the direction the projectile came from.(ie,facing away from ur opponent). But i’ve tried parrying the aegis down but i’ve always only managed to get off 1 parry b4 eating the rest. why so?
how exactly, like technically speaking… do the unblockables work?
Put simply, you can’t block in two directions (left/right) at once. This is why ‘unblockables’ use projectiles, it’s a way of having an extension of your character be in two places at the same time.
The projectile attacks from the left, the ‘real’ character attacks from the right. The game thinks “well, if he’s pushing the stick left, he’s blocking right. So he’s not blocking left. Ruh roh!”. Since you can’t block in both directions at the same time, you can’t block at all. Thus, the unblockable.

and the yang mixups are pretty easily blocked in my opinion. at the first nor cal regironals Gee-o in casual tried it on me (was my first time i saw it). all you have to do is block high normally and as soon as the first hit is blocked just block the other way.
as for urein unblockables, i dont see recent match vids ofurien players, mostly rx, use the corner knee drop setup. i tink the middle of the screen cross over favored now.

The key to landing the Yang mixup is just that… mixing it up. You can switch the low strong to a UOH, or toward+mk, or even just a hesitate-throw. That keeps people who are “savvy” from just snagging you on a counter-uppercut or something. It’s not free damage, like Genei Jin. Gotta work for it.
The Urien UB’s are all situational, I would advise people to learn at least one for any situation (mid-screen, corner, anti-air, etcetera) so they can flow into them naturally whenever possible. I would think that you don’t see the corner UB that often any more because people are used to it now and either (A) are prepared to try and escape or (B) just don’t allow themselves to get into that position.
