3S /CVS2/A3/MVC2/CE/HF/ST Regional Ranking System

Canada Regional Rankings System

This is a casual ranking system for the older ?Capcom fighting games? roster. The idea is to generate some interest and hopefully revitalize these games.

Games

Street Fighter III Third Strike
Capcom vs. SNK 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3/2
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Street Fighter 2 Turbo (Hyper Fighting)
Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition

The difference between this system and a series of Random Battles, is that instead of holding tournaments in a specific place, people play each other at home, small gatherings or wherever they want.

For the first season, which will be the test season, we?ll use a king of the hill system of ranking. No points will be involved, just your position on the ladder.

Now if this works out, every other season after this will use a totally different and better system.

Rules/FAQ

When will this ranking season begin?
This will start immediately and end on the last day of March!

Who can participate?
This will be open to all of Canada.

What region am I apart of?
What region you are apart of is usually what city you are in closest proximity to. However you may claim to represent any region you wish, but only one per season.

Who figures out the initial ladder spots?
Initial rankings are determined on a first come first serve basis, after which players begin jockeying for spots. Players may have a round robin or tournament to figure out positions on the ladders.

How do I win the overall ranking season?
Players “win” in their ladder, by holding the first position anytime starting February till the end of the season. Their names will be displayed besides anyone else who ever held first in that ladder.

What are the requirements for a game to be included in my region?
Games will require a minimum of three players in a region in order to be included in the season. If it cannot support three players, the ladder for it will be dropped. A game can be resurrected at anytime if it can find three players in a region.

What game versions can I use?
The arcade boards are the most preferred version for each game where available. Players may use PC emulators if both challengers agree to do so. Otherwise game versions acceptable are as follows:

Street Fighter III Third Strike uses Anniversary Edition.

Capcom vs. SNK 2 uses PS2 or Dreamcast.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 uses Dreamcast, PS3 or Xbox 360.

Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3 uses Alpha Anthology.

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo uses Dreamcast with certain dipswitches or Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo: HD Remix set on classic mode.

Street Fighter 2 Turbo and Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition use Capcom Collections 1 or Anniversary Edition with both characters set to the appropriate game.

Can we challenge each other online as well?
No online. Go outside and be a World Warrior like you were meant to be.

How will these rules and versions be enforced?
Now obviously I have no way of enforcing versions or online play. However, in case of disputes I will refer to the rules laid out here.

How do I enter the season?
Post up your region and the games you are willing to play.

When can we begin challenging other players?
Once the season starts, players may begin issuing challenges to other players.

What do I do if other players in my region ignore my challenges?
Players ought to accept all challenges made to them within reason. If you are out of town for a few days, then allowances will be made up to seven days. Players need to PM me if they have waited over seven days. They will receive an automatic win. This does not apply to players outside of your region.

What information do we need to remember after the challenge is complete?
Take note of the date, time and results of each of your challenges so that you can accurately post in this thread later.

Does it matter who posts the results?
Challenge results must be posted in this thread by either both players or at least the defeated player in order for the results to be validated. NO EXCEPTIONS.

What exactly is a challenge?
The challenge can take the form of a casual set or ?Money Match?. Both players must then decide how many games in the set are acceptable to both of them. First to seven games is the suggested minimum with three for longer games like CVS2.

Who do I get to challenge in my ladder and how often?
After initial ladder positions are worked out, players may challenge players that are within two spots above them only once a week each. You may challenge any players above the two spot limit, however only once every two weeks each.

What if I enter the season after the initial spots are already determined?
New players entering their regions ladder start at the bottom.

Can I challenge players in other regions?
Players may challenge other regions players, starting at the bottom of their ladder with the same restrictions on challenges above. The winner is entered into the loser?s regions ladder one spot above, however spots won in this way are restricted to the two regions involved unless both players already placed together in spots in another region for the game played in this challenge.

What happens if a player is inactive?
Player positions on a ladder decay one spot every two weeks of inactivity unless they are from another region.

What do I do if another region’s player is in a spot above me and he is not around to play?
Positions in your ladder currently held by another regions player may be bypassed at any time if they are not available to be played. Otherwise you may challenge them normally keeping in mind the restrictions on doing so.

What happens if another player from outside my region takes the first position in my ladder?
If another regions player occupies the first position on your ladder after the last day of February, his name is kept side by side with every other player that ever held that spot until the season closes.

Fuck it. Reserved Four.

What if I’m in the Dunnville region?

Jed is our Shelden Cooper

Your gonna have to choose between St. Caths or Hamilton.

I’m down for this. Good way to keep people interested in SF who weren’t interested in SF4. London can definitely scrounge the players for these games.

Down for: ST,HF,A2,A3,CvS2 and 3S

Hehe i’m fucking in for when I can play people.
