Sup all. With the lack of 3rd strike tournaments on GGPO, I thought I’d take some initiative and throw some of my own. I really would like for these tournies to go smooth and would like to hear opinions/suggestions from you all as to make them go as smooth as possible.
One thing that I had in mind though would be to restrict these tournies to West Coast players only. My reasoning behind this is simple; matches that go international or coast to coast, have international coast 2 coast lag. With no way to combat this at the moment, my only option is to restrict these tournaments to west coast players only being that I’m a West Coast player and would like for the smoothest matches possible to run. Apologies to any player that feels left out, but hey if someone from that respective coast wants to do what I’m doing, more power to them.
Once again, this is just a suggestion box as to things that could be done, incentives to winners, etc etc to make these GGPO tournaments very fun and exciting for the players. Suggestions open. Thank you.
Restricting the tournament to one coast is totally understandable but the only downside is there aren’t a lot of good West coast players due to us having access to arcades. There a lot of great central/east players that will be missing out. I just don’t see it filling up without them.
I like this Idea. Its a nice way to get some good matches in our general area.
If its possible maybe someone could stream the matches so there be no need for anyone to spectate other than the streamer. Would anyone be willing to help out in that department?
Even though I am East Coast, I think it’s a good idea to keep it West.
The lag you get coast to coast is just waaaaay too bad to deal with. Though I suppose there could be an East Coast tourney as well, it’s just up to someone to organize it. This may not work cause I’m not sure if you can stream live, but you can get the program SnagIt to record the matches, dunno if there is a way to broadcast through it.
i can handle the East Coast tourney’s and maybe if the turn out is good we can turn them into ranking battles to see who the strongest players are on each coast
im going to make a thread with a poll to see what time and days will most players be able to play in a tournament…based on that ill make another thread for the tournament
also for recording matches if someone who is not in the tournament can take the time to stream matches then it will work so much better for the players
maybe while the WC is running the tournament an EC player can stream it and vice versa…it just takes ONE generous person to do this
We definitely need to get this going on a regular basis. I usually have bad lag on 2DF but I really enjoy playing on GGPO. I’ll show up for sure if someone gets a GGPO tourney going.
