OKay, you know what- instead of talking smack on each other, why not actually list why Sean sucks compared to the others? He’s got half-decent normals and the good Shoto-dash for throw games, and he can do C.Short-jab-short xx super or C.Strong xx SA III- he sort of becomes a Ken on welfare checks. On the other hand, his special attacks suck ass with horrible recovery and startup unless you want to EX them.
And you know, tiers can’t be completely discounted. While 3s has a solid skill-curve (i.e., being able to beat someone worse than you no matter what character they use on the basis of pure engine experience) you can’t say that, for example, a good Sean could beat an equally matched Chun or Ken. Statistically speaking, Sean’s chances of success get flushed down the toilet against upper-tier characters. It’s certainly not impossible to win, and the chances aren’t NEARLY as bad as, say, CvS2 Gief vs. Blanka. But it’s still pretty bad. That’s like a 6:1 payoff match.
But seriously? I wouldn’t say ‘Sean is top tier’ if there was a gun stuck to my head, but I dunno Pyro, you sorta jumped the gun here. I’ll bag on France just because it’s almost frigging traditional to bag on France (two words: Maginot Line ^_-), but at least play them before talking smack. Fuck, we could always use more 3s players.

I couldn’t find the Remy thread so I’ll ask here. How would you beat a good Alex with Remy? Especially how do you manage to dish out enough damage without getting knocked down, which is when the mind games start. And once you’re knocked down, is there anything Remy can do to limit the guesswork? Just flash kick seems risky to me. How do you stop Alex from getting close with EX Elbow Slashes? Also, what do you do to avoid tick power bombs, low forward into stomps to break your charges, stuff like that. Basically, what does Remy have to counter Alex?

After I beat Cameron with my yun and beat his urien and beat his hugo and every character that nebraska is supposed to be on “So Cal’s level with” everyone will know that nebraska is nothing. Hey Tom are you going to the tourney on sat or do you have work? Also Joel was there last night we had some great comp, after about 20 games he started to play smarter and used boomerang raid instead of hyperbomb against my yun, then things got really intense. Joel’s alex is REALLY good, he kept getting everyone with that jumping pile driver move haha. I dont really care about France anyways cause they’re dirty.

you’re saying sean can win in the hands of a good player, but the same could be said for any other character in any other game, like dan in mvc2 for example.
while tiers don’t absolutely ‘rule out’ a character from winning against a higher tier character, i think we still need to be able to generalise if we want to theory-fight. (and i think we do it a LOT more than we think)

When you guys say NE is weak do you mean NE as a whole or are you including Cameron and Datrick? I know for a fact those guys are really good. I have not seen the other people play. Why are people talking so much nonsense about Cameron’s Sean when he can play with everyone? The question you might wanna ask yourself Pyro is when your Yun looses who will you have to fall back on. What exactly are Necro and Ibuki doing to keep you out? I would think Ibuki would be a “no contest”, honestly, as her stun meter is essentially just there for show, and she takes damage like Payless shoes. Rush that shit down, if nothing else, mon homme.
Necro is an essentially unknown playstyle in most circles, so I’d again say by default RTSD, without knowing what in particular troubles you.
when necro does the yoga spear, tech the first hit, then standing strong XX ex rising knee smash
if necro is lighting storm, DO NOT ATTACK HIM ON A RISE, block that shit, then ex elbow slash
overhead that opera singer like a mother fucker with neutral standing fierce, then after two seperate overheads on a rising necro, do a fierce power bomb instead
use a lot of jumping fierce, ducking strong, and random ex flash chops on necros because they jump more often than usual
