Most people in this thread suck at both games, anyway, and aren’t really qualified to speak on the merits of either, since they aren’t proficient enough in either game to really uncover what the games have to offer. It’s just really easy to praise 3S now, so have at it. Most of you will quit 3S by November.

It’s not secret to anyone that knows me, that I think 3S is a horrible game, but that aside… you guys’ opinions are just funny. It’s fine to like 3S, and not to like SF4… but when you say you don’t like SF4, because of OS… and they say you like 3S… all you’re really saying is “I kinda know a little about SF4… and I know absolutely nothing about 3S… but people tell me it’s good”.

I personally think SF4 is a good game. Not perfect by any means, but overall it’s good. Most of what people complain about are tiny gripes.

Reversal window is too big? Really? What kind of scrubs are you playing in other games, where you actually make decisions based on thinking your opponent can’t hit the reversal? The size of the reversal window makes zero difference at even intermediate level. If they want a reversal, they’ll get it, in any game.

Shortcuts? Again… who cares? Are you beating people in other games because they can’t get the moves out? Or is it that you can’t get precise motions in SF4 (loads of other players can)? Come on guys.

Links in SF4 are too tight? Umm… links in SF4 are objectively easier than any other SF game, just because of plinking.

You can’t make people block in SF4, Eric? Really? Again… patently false. You can’t make SF4 players block… because most of them are horrible. But they’re about to start playing 3S… see how much they’ll block when they have parry as an option… Good players will block in SF4, once you show that they have to. You can show players in VERY obvious ways that they have to block.

If you don’t like the pacing of SF4… that’s totally valid… but also obviously subjective. You can’t really cite it as a fault in the game… just something you don’t like.

I just think SF4 gets a bad rap for really stupid reasons. Is it perfect? No. Is it amazing? Eh… Is it better than having scrubs on SRK that don’t even understand the game (despite how “simple” it is) bad mouth it? Definitely.

I honestly think both games are more on the side of bad. I like SF4 more but thats just because its closer to old school SF imo. AS their own games they are solid. But compare them to their predecessors and that’s when the flaws start to really show.

Both games have problems but in the end I think SF4 is gonna end up the better game just because of the constant patches and tweaks.

Well I grew a slight taste for it when it was at the Vanilla stage, because it wasn’t so stupid then… everything felt wonky about the links and cancels and whatnot… but I was a happy dude when I could get my footsies on like ST(somewhat)… game was just fine as it was… why we got Super Bullshit AE is beyond me… all they would’ve had to do for me to be a happy customer is speed it up a bit…

Although I do think that SF4 is a ripoff of ST and Third Strike, the first stage had alot of potential… if it wasn’t reiterated and new tech was found, I’m sure it would’ve been pretty great…

I like 3S but again, there hasn’t been a true Street Fighter since ST… I like 3S as a different game… everything just feels so right about the game…

EDIT: @ EL, I’m going to have to disagree here… these patches are coming out too quickly… and how do you know that these tweaks are for the best when the new iterations haven’t been out long enough for examination…

True enough, I chalk it up to the age of information and it’s just easier for devs to get feed back really really quickly. We will just have to wait and see.

You contradicted yourself…you make valid points, but you also called Third Strike horrible. You’re doing what they are. Instead of saying “I don’t prefer 3rd Strike” you said “It’s horrible” which it clearly isn’t.

I actually haven’t been to EVO since SF4 came out. Last time I went, though, I got 17th in CvS2, which I’m sure is higher than 99% of people posting in this thread have ever gotten at any Evo tournament. DevilJin got 9th once. Shout out to him. The rest of you…

How is it a contradiction to say that I think 3S is horrible? I didn’t even say why I thought it was, since it’s totally irrelevant to the conversation, and it doesn’t really matter.

I’m not trying to get anyone else to think 3S is horrible. Play what you like. I could list a bunch of reasons why I think it’s bad… and it wouldn’t be dumb shit that doesn’t REALLY affect action, like the reversal window.

i think sf4 feels and plays awfully. so I simply don’t play it, and I also don’t go to the sf4 boards to diss sf4 and tell them they don’t understand 3S or sf4. Honestly how many people who post on the 3S boards regularly go to the sf4 boards to diss sf4? but for some reason people come from the sf4 boards to here pretty regularly to tell us we’re all insane and stupid for liking such an awful game. stay away and leave others alone if you don’t like it.

I honestly love SF4 to death. I mean sure, I may end up getting frustrated online and stop playing for a bit, but I’ll eventually hop back on it and love it all over again. Now, I haven’t played Third Strike in like…a decade…but I for sure will pick up third strike HD and probably end up loving it. And even then I think I’ll love Sf 4 still.

Umm… I didn’t bad mouth 3S at all in my post. Please point out the part where I get into how bad 3S is.

I stated one time that I don’t like it, which was only done as an aside, so someone couldn’t say “but you hate 3S! what do you know”. Apparently, I failed, since that’s still the refrain, even though every single word I typed was about people having misconceptions/dumb reasoning behind hating SF4.

So yeah… I didn’t come onto 3S boards to talk shit about 3S. I clearly didn’t do that.

Uh alright. I wasn’t specifically saying you did do that just that for some reason people who don’t like 3S seem to…find their way to the 3S boards very often. I say the same shit you do when people complain about sf4 stuff. 9/10 times it’s total bullshit that just shows someone doesn’t even know what they dislike about the game. I don’t care that you don’t like 3S; I like it, so why do I care who else likes it.

In general people can’t be bothered to actually spend the time and understand the game. It’s a shame but whatever. But you’re just responding to a flame thread with flaming basically which is pretty stupid.

This isn’t bad mouthing but the part where you mention “good sf4 players will block once you show them they have to” applies to 3s as well. Rolling the dice is not as good as people think, since good players will recognize it quickly and punish people for it

I agree with you HAV, they see some old school players really like 3s, and they don’t want to be associated with new school. So with no legit reason, they scream ‘3s is the game for pros! fuck scrubby SFIV!’. They are both great games, any reason you don’t like them is down to opinion, not quality of the games.

I am afraid however…for SFV…didn’t Ono say he wanted to give beginners even MORE of an edge? Im really scared of the future of the series if it’ll be even worse, its damn beginner friendly enough lol…SRKs now 1 frame startup and can intercept even a true combo by mashing lol??? SF4 is my first fighter I really played at a little more serious level but so much stuff annoys me like the damn reversals and inputs screwing up due to shortcuts. It just shouldnt be possible for someone that plays the game for a month to match someone whos at it for a year (And the level of skill is clearly different, its the games mechanics/comeback system + online/lag that allows it). Does not just happen to me, ive seen in happen in countless endless lobbies, them 50/50’s man with SRK and tick throws + Lag + them Physic 70% DMG Ultra mashes, shits impossible lol, especially when you play an agressive mixup char and don’t want to bait & punish all day. Gotta adept fast

Last 100 matches were either Bait & Punish Fighter 4 (Which is boring), Chase enemy down fighter 4, (Opponent: -> )Turtle Fighter 4, or Mash fighter 4. Oh yea im salty lol

Also ^ that coming from someone who loves SF4 lol, but Ive always said it not just cause some are coming out the closet saying SF4 sucks now :P. That said Ill see what kind of BS SF x tekken has, I hope it’ll be fine :(. Don’t get me wrong I love SF4 but some stuff is just to abusable, its just no other 2-d fighter has even HALF of the fanbase/players online else I’d probably be BBing it upp. Wish third strike was a new release so i could get into it for real ;/
