So how does Dudley deal with shotos who play very defensively? I’ve been losing pretty horribly to ones who just use fireball and s. hk lately.
time your jumps.
doesn’t even need to be great timing online. roundhouse is never cancellable. hadou recovery is slow, especially ken.
so it takes basically one jumpin, parry, and you should get like at least a 33% combo.
Okay I’ll need to try that then. Thanks Tebbo.
you dont necessarily need to attack either. i think youd be amazed how many people are provoked into attacking by a dudley getting mad meter whiffing rh. dudley has very good defensive tools!
you can scare the shit out of them with ducking to clear any projectiles and go right into super if they are stuck in only hitting roundhouse no matter where you are. Especially, say Gouki
He has three main anti low forward tools, toward strong, fierce and far fierce. Beat those and you stand a chance. Want in another way? Beat his fierce and defend against his sweeps and you should be good.
I’m not sure what you mean here. I’m saying as the Dudley player how do I stop shotos, not the other way around.
Oops, I read that the first time and then read it again today and it just read like you were losing to Dudley roundhouse.
Okay so Shoto to Dudle…
Well…just use the opposite. Beat low forwards with toward strong, and the fierces. Once you have that locked down move on to keeping him out of your far fierce and into letting you use sweep as one of your mix up options. It’s slow enough to allow a nice second guess opening that will let you sneak in for more high low trickery or let you push back out with a few frame trap pokes.
Assuming Ryu because that’s who I think when I hear shoto:
I know your far roundhouse will stuff his stand roundhouse but also leave you open to the strong punches or vulnerable to a preemptive cr rh.
You have your low forward challenges above.
Standing strong is excellent after you’ve narrowed him to a standing roundhouse and are in position. The cancels afforded to you allow for excellent oki. Careful, though, if you aren’t in position and too far it will look like there is a possible trade but, no, you will just eat a combo.
It’s best not to get into too many up close scuffles with the guy because of his stand forward. Fast meaty as fuck and linkable into super for a decent oki. Oki is wake up game. Oki is just simpler to type.
I believe the first hit of your tatsus will hit a crouching dudley so use it if you get a cancelable hit in, blocked or not, to get out of the corner. Beware, though, if he blocks high you’re pretty much going to eat a combo.
Your far fierce out of standing roundhouse is just fun.
Go on psn tonight my friend!!!
Fuck psn!
jk I don’t have a playstation or xbox right now. Well, I don’t have live so I may as well just have a brick. But yeah, can’t. You’ll just have to wait til Super re-opens to catch a beating.
Maybe you should actually learn the ground game and spacing rather then throwing out random Empty Duck and Roll and his Launcher.
I think you’re confusing me with some other Dudley player. Unless you actually have a non-asshole answer to the question I asked like the other people who responded go pretend like you’re the world’s greatest 3s player somewhere else and let me try and actually get real answers to what I asked.
Fireball? Dudley has the fastest jump in in the game. One jump = 40% damage + pushed in corner for 50/50’s
Standing RH? Dudley can react and/or buffer his punch xx EX machine gun blow = 30% damage + pushed in corner for 50/50’s
I think as a general rule if someone has shown they’re willing to commit to laggy pokes you’ll have opportunities to predict them and land fat jump in combos. obviously with Dudley those jump in combos are pretty nasty. good damage and corner carry which you can likely convert from as well.
Louis, just be a bit more polite and do the same thing and add the most prominent examples and you should be fine.
Advice seems to be working so thanks to everyone who replied. The journey to get better continues.
California road trip pt.2:
I left San Francisco after 2 weeks and followed highway 1 to L.A. It’s been fun.
Santa Cruz boardwalk has a lot of fighting games, but those places are in a really bad shape. Some real cool games like CvS2, Soul Calibur II, Samurai Shodown V special, but I couldn’t find one cabinet that didn’t have several buttons not working and shit like that.
Santa Cruz boardwalk score:
Now in L.A. and I’ve been to James Games. Really sick arcade. Nice 3rd strike head to head setup. Had a blast.
James Games score:
(extra points for MvC2 head to head, and crazy taxi, I have a weak spot for Crazy Taxi)
Maybe I’ll check out Regency later, but I only have a couple of days left.
Let me know when you go to Regency for some games.
If someone is playing dry and has a really good anti air game (that doesnt involve just trying to parry your jump ins) either move in slowly occasionally using f+hp and c.mp and then try to space a early jump HK into super, the early Jump HK beats almost everything and at worse it’ll trade with a SRK, once they cotton on to this and either start blocking or parrying you can mix up your jump in attacks
