One of the reasons is that most characters have a way to hitconfirm into super in the footsie range. And the ability to build super from whiffed normals means they usually have one ready to fly.

I think that’s part of the 3SOE DLC matches that that dude (I wanna’ say 5Star but I forget his name and he hasn’t posted here in a long while) said were held on laggy monitors and everyone thought the whole thing was a joke.

pretty sure the request in question is Gaijinblaze asking for character lock in tournament modes only, which makes sense. I don’t think he (or anyone else) asked for versus matches and lobbies to keep you locked into a character until you lose.
