Yeah, part of the problem I was having is that Urien has really strong answers to my usual buttons. But I played some last night and cr.MK was really effective. Thanks!
Urien is one of the matchups I could go either way with on super selection. Even if they can parry out of unblockable loops, Yagyou still feels pretty strong in the corner, and I like having all that EX bar. I dunno.

I feel your pain viache. Urien has always been a strange fight for me.
I know that’s a strange thing to say but people can use him so defensively and then he gets super and everything is turned on its head. Urien is just a little weird to fight with anyone imo.
i think yagyou is a good idea if only because it lets you build some momentum even if you don’t get anything but chip from it.
Urien is one of those fights in general where you just have to get good at Parrying like the Twins and Chun. You just cannot let him get away with a free shoulder into Aegis.
just from my personal experience against Urien, don’t rush him down because he’s going to fish for super jumps and dashes and once he has meter he’ll throw out shoulder recklessly. i play a somewhat lame style against him now, just out of reach of normals and looking out for him charging. if you parry his charge and know how to do the proper yagyu setup, he’s pretty much done. i can’t remember exactly how to do the loop but it something like dash x2, take a step and dash again or double jump. i’ve seen it before on a top Urien player and it worked every time. i’ll see if i can find the match on youtubes since it’s not that old.
I do LP ball, dash x3, NJ, fj or MP ball, dash x2, NJ, fj.
MP ball really wants to hit him twice though.
ok can’t find the video right now but it’s like a half step forward, dash x2, double jump. this should work with medium ball (if u have problems use jab ball).

got it to work with both but i recommend lp ball because it won’t hit twice as Viache mentioned, so your margin for error isn’t so big. also you have to have a slight pause between dashes to get it just right with mp ball and you have to time the cross up perfectly for that one hit remaining on the ball.

if you wanna get hella crazy you can do: mp x1> mk chicken, mp x1> hp fireball, dash forward, mp x1> mp yagyu
Yeah that’s the real combo. It should work on other characters too, but I’m not at home to check. I always forget to do it in matches.
Does that make MP Yagyou hit once? Urien is weird. Sometimes MP will hit him once, but usually it hits twice. I think it’s a spacing thing because I can never get it consistent.
LP is weird too. If you just dash twice and double jump, it works in p.mode, but sometimes in real matches the ball just misses. I started doing the dash x3 thing, but I’m sort of bad at dashing, so if taking that extra half step forward makes it work, that would be fantastic.
Urien also annoys me because his stupid contrapposto neutral stance makes late jump-in chicken kick really hard.
Oro/Urien is dumb but kind of fun. A whole lot of work at neutral and then suddenly someone is dead lol.

if you do that really hard version, mp ball will hit once. the inconsistent part is the dash up cl. mp after the hp fireball juggle. sometimes you end up short and sometimes the second hit of c. mp hits. it’s very hard to make the whole combo consistent but mp ball will hit only once if you actually manage to land it (only one hit left on juggle count). best bet is to just do the half step before the 2 dashes and use lp ball. works every time and is much easier to do. i’ll continue to look for that video done mid match. i believe it was Vanao of all people doing it on one of those 3 chars vs tournaments. i can’t be certain though so i’m still combing through TheShend’s channel to find it. my memory is really bad but i know i saw it and was like “so that’s how you’re supposed to use it on Urien!”.

hmm. looks like after trying the hard version near the corner, mp ball hit twice. i figured at mid screen the juggle limit was up but after testing near the corner to land the dash into cl. mp x1> mp ball, it hit twice. seems that the mp ball has to hit him in such a way that he’s just out of range for a second hit like most characters? this should go in the Oro sub forum but that place is dead.
That reminds me, the sub-forum issue went nowhere.
If its a global problem, its a problem with vanilla’s software and there is nothing I can fix.
Makes me wonder why the SRK forums were “upgraded” to this new software in the first place. The problems it has caused have far outnumbered any benefits.
But now there’s a Like and Dislike bar. Clearly an improvement.

Which online community? PSN and XBL both have people in ranked pretty much all the time, but depending on the hour of the day you’ll run into the same couple people over and over, with one or two random low level people who quit after one match mixed in. For a game that most of the FGC insists is dead, it’s not all that dead. Not as active as SF4 of course, but far better than say, any of the XBL SNK games.
