is anyone gonna buy Civ: Beyond Earth? I watched TotalBiscuitās first glance video and while Iām not sold on it, I expect like most Firaxis products it will improve a lot with expansions.
I like space! Itāll never be Alpha Centauri but it could be the next best thing.
if there was a Civilization: Star Trek edition where I could play as the Klingons I would be all over it.
Iāll get it when itās half off or something over the summer.

Checking out endless space later and I had no idea weāve made it past AD in the Civs realm. I knew about alpha centauri but never knew anyone that played it. Cooollll
I like 4X games, though I donāt really play them that much. thereās a few of the genre sitting in my library where I bought them, played three games, then never touched again. 4X is a genre that requires a lot of time investment all at once, I canāt always do that anymore.
Master of Orion 2 was my gold standard for 4X. Havenāt played Civ since 3 but Beyond Earth peaked my interest. A friend was recommending it to me a few days ago. Steamāward ho!

Unzip both files (Iād recommend unzipping the second ā3fvā file into after the other, so you can put it where you unzipped FBA-rr). Youāll have to set up FBA-rr so it can access your 3S ROM. It might give an error when loading, but donāt worry about that. After the game runs, on the FBA menu bar, go to Game > Lua Scriptingā¦ > New Lua Script Windowā¦ , browse for the file called 3rd_training_20120212.lua and then click Run on the window.
Once youāve got the game and script running, you can select your character and start the game. Once a fight has started, you hold down 1P Start to give you a training menu. The explanations are in Japanese, but you can work it out. There is no way to make the opponent auto-guard, or turn the AI off, so I recommend selecting a character on the 2P side to have a dummy to practice on.
Note: when using FBA-rr for Lua Scripting, keep the Video Blitter to Basic. Enhanced basically crashes the whole program for some reason.
Thank you ! Everything is clear, but I have a little problem with FBA. When I go to set options in the menu, the game pause and I donāt know how ot unpause itā¦ Thatās ridiculous but I donāt find a solution. Any clue ?

Last thing, I canāt freeze health and time in training mode with your lua, is that normal ?
EDIT : Problem solved by using cheats (.ini one).
Now itās train to practice my target shoryu combo ^.^
Gutter Trash singles lasts about 3 hours, if we did single elim it would probably last like 1 hour, iām not sure if āburn outā really applies here. But i have played in lots of tournaments where top 4 are delayed until the evening and iām totally burn out by then and play like utter crap, but again not really a double elim thing. Iām sure Ryan is referring to large scale tournaments and tournaments with a poor player - setup ratio (Rusty Parry for instance)
just finished my first game and canāt give Beyond Earth any seal of approval. if you havenāt bought it yet Iād say pass on it! based on Metacritic fan reviews it seems Iām not alone in this feeling.

yeah itās just kinda bland at the moment. Civ 5 is okay but it has some pretty weak diplomacy and thereās some stuff I donāt like much about it. itās my least favorite Civ. and BE is essentially Civ 5 in space. plays more like a mod of 5 than a new game. maybe patches will fix it? but considering how itās in the 5 engine and just how much overlap there is I think itāll always be stuck in that groove to some extent.
if you want a reason to play Civ I always recommend Civ 4. itās pretty similar to 3 but I think better in every way. whereas 5 and BE are a pretty different take on the series from 3/4.
What the actual fuck is wrong with the FGC? Now they are talking about playing some complete bullshit game called DFC which is yet another pedophile anime fighter that looks like garbage. This is getting ridiculous. How did we let it get this bad?
Donāt knock anime fighters just for the sake of knocking anime fighters, but do knock DFC because it looks like absolute garbage. Akira Yuki deserves much better.
