32mm drill bit for OBSF-30 push ins?

I went to my local hardware store and they only have 25 and then 32 drill bits… I got them both, 25 for the joystick. But will 32 do the job for the pushbuttons? they’re spade drill bits btw.

Also one other thing that has me a bit bafooled regarding the joystick. I’ve seen a lot of tutorials on panel making. And I’ve seen some people just drill a hole and use mounting plates on the underside of the top panel. And then some people have actually chiseled away at the top of the penel and put the mounting plate on top. What are the pros and cons to both methods? I’m using a jlf(8yt). And my top panel is 23mm thick stained wood pine. I would prefere to just drill a hole obviously as it looks nicer but I figured the shaft would be too short.

Thanks

32mm for the spade bit will be too big for the snap-ins, it has to be pretty much spot on for the button to grab onto the panel, otherwise it’ll just spin around. You could get away with 32mm if you use screw-ins as the bit of movement won’t matter much.

You can bottom mount the stick in the panel you’re using, but make sure you chisel or route out underneath so the plate is recessed, otherwise the stick will be way too short.

I see. I figured I might get away with the 32mm but I guess not. oh well. guess I’ll have to hunt down a 30mm drill bit. thanks for the info.

It took me ages to find a 30mm bit, then I found one whilst in a hardware shop looking for something else. :wgrin:

Order it online thats where I got mine.
