Good evening fine people of SRK! Just had a quick question regarding custom button art. What do you guys use to cut 30mm circles? I know I can just cut it by hand, but I would like to make these as close to perfect as possible. Anyone have a neat tool they use or something?
they 30mm guides at michaels
I just use a X-acto knife with a fresh blade.
I’m not sure what tool you’re referring to.
meant they have these plastic squares with cut circles that you can use as a guide
i will try and look that up. thanks!
They make Xacto style blades specifically for cutting circles. I think it’s called swivel blade or something like that. Michael’s and most craft stores should have it. If all else fails… Amazon
I’ve still been looking everywhere. I can’t seem to find exactly 30mm. The search is sounding like a dead end.
I’m thinking about getting a plexiglass and making a circle trace myself
The problem with those is that they’re generally meant for cutting circles out of whatever sheet you have, because it usually punches a pinhole in the center. They’re meant for you to keep the rest of the sheet and toss out the circle, not the other way around.
30mm is the size of the button hole. NOT the size of the insert for the art.
I can’t remember the exact size needed; it’s around 20-21mm; also, Sanwa and Seimitsu art inserts differ in size just very slightly as well.

Oh that’s right. Forgot about that. I did find that Fiskars makes a paper circle cutter. Watched a YouTube video on it and I think I’m sold. Will post results when I buy the cutter.
@FreedomGundam That’s not what I was talking about. What I was talking about is a blade that is almost exactly like a static xacto knife, except the blade “swivels” making it easier to make circular motions. It doesn’t punch a hole in the center.
@VarmintBaby
You’ll have to post a picture of what you were referring to then.
I guess I understood that you were describing the cutting tool that’s essentially a compass, but with a blade on one end; like this:
