Is it me of does Gabby Douglass on the US Womans Gymnastics team seem like shes already lost the fire? This has been going on prior to Rio.
Just 4 years ago she was the it girl, on top of the world, now it was almost like she has to force a smile out. Her performance was off, this is a second Olympic game, the newbies were showing their stuff. She just seems…off. Like the passion is gone.
I hope she pulls it together, because right now it seems like Simone Biles hasnt even peaked yet.
Sidenote, lets give a round of applause to Oksana Chusovitina for being 41 years old. 6th Olympics game, this lady isnt getting nearly enough coverage. Yikes. And These girls get 10 maybe 12 good years if theyre lucky, less than that if you talk about being on top. This is nothing short of phenomenal athleticism. I was reading up on her backstory, evidently she defected from Soviet Union to Germany when her son was diagnosed with leukemia so that she could compete in the games and get the necessary medical treatment for her son. Super mom confirmed good grief.
