2015 UMVC3 SRK Tier/Theory Discussion. 7/10 First Page Tumblr: Power of snapback, Future power teams

Really…its up to you guys if you want to discuss what the thread is about or just go into pure results trolling and what not. The thread isn’t going anywhere because people want it to. The people who say the thread sucks and just go on tirades and can’t read for shit…aren’t going anywhere.

So basically since everyone loves this thread that’s here…just try to keep it around the discussion at hand and at least make the theory vs. results arguments a bit more civil. If theory sucks etc. then please try to find somewhere else to post.

Other than that, back to the same shit.

even if this were true, wouldn’t it still net more hits, damage, and meter build? You can always end it early with jump s when they are really low for the shot.

People still don’t dash cancel Doom’s normals and that shit is Day 1 Vanilla.

Plunger Reps do about 160k damage at minimum scaling (courtesy of Frank’s 20%) and do 15 hits. If you assumed that pre Tac you did 20-30 hits (which seems reasonable for the average character, whereas obviously the multi hitters in combos could easily get 50 or higher), you’d need at least 5 reps to get to level 5 for one snapshot and would be doing about 800k just in the TAC, much less the damage before hand. That said, you could easily stop it at any time and settle for level 4, and could definitely get 5 and still not having kill problems if you had an assist(s) that ensured double snaps.

I’d speculate it’s mostly a combination of laziness and not a lot of people really playing Frank at a high level. That said, good Frank teams can kill and level without a TAC (Apology Man had the right team to do it though I’m not 100% on whether he knew it or not; on the bright side he at least did some follow ups post DHC) and usually if you’re focusing on Frank you want to prioritize leveling over the risk of a TAC, even at the cost of passing up TAC infinites and using meter.

Where do people rate taskmaster ?

The thing about execution is that it’s subjective as shit. I mean seen so many people say that Skrull’s tenderizer is impractical, but it’s possible to do it in a match if you wine it down to 2-3 reps.

Not sure how I feel about ____/Doom/Dante. Doom and Dante have a lot of synergy though neither pairing is really oppressive.

Doom with Jam Session works in the corner and is weak outside of it. Dante with Doom behind him is okay (not quite top tier but just under it) but then you’re stuck with Doom anchor. Your team just seems like it would lose a lot of steam once your first character dies. It feels like a better version of Knives’ Sentinel/Akuma support roster which many players don’t like.

Seems like the best teams have a strong pair to start matches and a great back-up plan after that. That second plan can either be another good pair, or a stupid anchor (Vergil or Strider).

Dante is a good anchor, but he’s not in that ridiculous anchor category. I’d either try to make Dante teams that have two good pairs, or that have their own ridiculous anchor behind him. Richard Nguyen’s Zero/Dante/Strider is a good example of that second style.

The best character with no mahvel.

since ppl want to have a discussion i thought of a simple one

i was thinking of hearing peoples opinion on beam assist and what are their strength and weakness.

i think the top 3 beam assist that majority can agree on are disruptor , plasma beam and unibeam. (in no order) i hink we know the general stuff about each beam but i would like to hear what people have to say for themselves.

I really, really like Plasma Beam. Even though the team I run would benefit more from Unibeam or Bolts, I just can’t put Plasma away. Something about Doom being smart enough to show up behind all the action, shoot out something that puts out some major durability for screen clearing, and get out without much of a hassle just seems so good to me.

Yeah I still got other tournament players in my area who also play Doom going…“yo how you be doing dat dash thang?” Its still some new theory shit 2 + years later.

You forgot the bolts of ballsack

All 3 beams are good, but disruptor is only good for select characters with fast left/rights, which means only a handful will use it to its top tier potential while unibeam and plasma beam are much more accessible by the majority of the cast, but iron man is rather lackluster, which leaves only doom left. That’s just one example of how poor design forces players into a position in which they feel obligated to feel doom.

Also, problem with dash cancelling with doom is obvious hit confirm issues. Obviously, you want to do it at the end of a blocked magic series string, but if you landed a jl then dash cancelled before you hit confirmed, and they blocked the dash cancel, you just lost a huge opportunity. It’s still useful. Something really underrated that I saw honzo use: dash cancel OS hard kick.

Disruptor is the best if you have a teleport.
Unibeam is the best if you want to keep your opponent grounded.
The rest more or less prefer plasma

Best beam is disruptor. Its way too fast and for whatever reason the nigga still comes out 30 feet behind the point character. It also has a huge hitbox and is a godlike start of the round assist. Unibeam and Plasma Beam are close but overall disruptor is best.

My name has no spaces, and I’m not a troll, just a Firebrand advocate.

Edit:Smegma Beam is godlike, and all are beneath Dooooooooooooooooooom…

Dude has normals for days. st.M, cr.M and Shield Skills are all pants-on-head retarded. I think of him as being just below the top tier, but he does have pretty good match-ups against some of them. He’s about as good as you can get playing fair in this game. He’s a great character for people coming from other games that reward poking and spacing.

If someone could consistently enforce his unblockables/guard breaks on incoming characters, I’d rate him higher since carrying momentum seems to be a weakness for him compared to idiots like Zero, Vergil and Viper.

You also have Gun Fire which functions the same as Unibeam(keeping them grounded), and then Psionic Blaster/Bolts for encouraging crouching. Bolts also stays out a fair bit for space control. Mighty Spark encourages crouching as well, and it does a shit-ton of damage as combo extension.

So many beams, so many functions.

Does Mystic Ray count? :smokin:

anyone rational have any changes to their tier list after SCR? im becoming a believer in frank west being higher than mid tier and phoenix being mid tier.

Those are the only two words you need to be on the list, bub.
