2013 SSF4 A.E. Zangief Change list

I’m so,mad right now haha, I only enjoy playing Zangief and if I’d have to change characters just to be a viable competitor i’d rather drop the game.

I’m in the same boat. lp spd is at a shorter range than ever before, shorter than in super. Couple that with an ex go that’s 3 frames slower and you get a character that is physically incapable of beating zoners. What’s the point of even playing if you’re character is this bad out of the gate? Even if it’s possible to win with him he’s been stripped of everything that made him fun. Thanks capcom for keeping up your perfect streak of nerfing Gief in every version.

I think any character with a grab ultra can now punish zangief’s lpgh on hit. Ontop of that now the only move thats good after a lpgh hit is spd since it’s 2 frames. So Capcom wants Zangief players to use spd more when they get in but they’re making spds suck more?!

I can’t even imagine how Zangief is supppsed to fight a character like Balrog in US4 with his dash punch being -1 on block and a ultra that can punish Zangief’s lpgh on hit. That matchup is going to be dumb.

I just can’t help but wonder what warrants these changes? I mean is there someone destroying people somewhere with Zangief that we don’t know about because I thought for sure Zangief was getting buffs.

Yep, Honda and Balrog just got crazy bad, Guy can actually do something now and Ibuki…can punish it. Hawk is an awful match and Hakan shits on us since now he has anti-airs, things to do while unoiled and can punish us on hit.

Either W Ultra is just THAT crazy or Capcom is…just THAT crazy.

Maybe they saw 3 Giefs doing decently in Mexico and went nuts, who knows.

It’s actually downright depressing how bad he’ll be with these changes. Even if his spd did 400 damage he would most likely still be at a disadvantage in most match ups. I’m convinced capcom doesn’t like grapplers and only includes them as a novelty…either that or they’ve completely lost touch with their games.

Ryu and chun gets free supers on you aswell for landing lpgh.

I doubt Dudley will remain as a 7-3 with those buffs he just got.

Yeah it’s gonna suck. Gief players are gonna have to play out of their minds now.

I’m not even sure if gief vs gat is any better for gief, you can knock him down with exgh now but your lp spd blows now.

How are you going to knock him down with a 16 frame ex gh? That’s 3 frames slower. Also, in vanilla when ex gh knocked down it only did knock down if BOTH hits connected. This was a nightmare vs. sagat cause almost all of his pokes moved him back and you’d only get one hit.

Honestly, with our bnb ender being -2 on hit I can see many characters just jumping away like motherfuckers since being SPD’d will be much more scary and eating a meaty that keeps you grounded will be…impossible, right?, making them block in order to eat a single SPD will be absolute hell.

I honestly don’t see anything short of some sort of ridiculous buff to rbg saving this character if these changes hold true.

Yeah no more mixups after gh, now it’s just either spd after lpgh or siberian blizzard if you decide to pressure

When I go to super arcade for the loketest i’m bringing lots of Gief players with me lol and if he is crap like stated recently then our opinions will be heard,since opinions from simple players seem to be what warrant mostly all of zangiefs nerfs.

Are these gief changes true? How the fuck is Zangief supposed to do shit in any matchup with these bullshit changes?
Right now it’s just:
Did you pick Gief? -> You fucked up -> Did you push a button? -> How can one man fuck up so much?

I remember capcom saying they wated to keep original characters strong and now we get hit with the nerf bat again…

ComboFiend notes that each of the grapplers in SF4 have a distinct style, (i.e. Zangief has combos, T. Hawk has air control, etc.) Hugo’s strength will lie in his corner pressure.
