Let’s discuss the changes and what are you thoughts. I enjoy the damage boost and range boost of super arts. That will be very important to him later along the lines. What do you all think. Try to stay positive guys. The only real nerfs he got was srk and tatsu but he wasn’t the only shoto.
One thing I’m really curious about is the buff to his target combo. I tested this for a while, and found that if you CADC Ken’s target combo, your advantage is increased by 2 frames. So right now, Target Combo xx CADC is +1 on hit, -5 on block. With this buff, it’ll be +5 on hit, -2 on block. And of course, considering the fact that CADCs are already pretty hard to react to, it might as well be +1 or +2 on block. Either way, we now have a safe CADC, and on hit we can actually link into a combo! Gives us a pretty easy hit-confirm…assuming that you’re good at links. (And his target combo was already a pretty good hit-confirm on its own.)
However, this is assuming that to get those frames, they just increased the hitstun and the blockstun and didn’t change the recovery frames on it. I’m pretty sure they just increased the blockstun and hitstun, but I’m not sure…the change log just states the change in the frame advantage on the target combo, not what they did to get it to those numbers.
I’m just hoping that his far stand HK is actually good instead of being OK for footsies.
I wish that they took off a few recovery frames as well as the start-up reduction. It’s not really worth going for right now since even though it can crumple, it’s so easy to punish if you whiff. Maybe the faster start-up will help it a bit, but I’m not optimistic about that move at the moment.
At least his sweep remains relatively safe though.
I like the fact that we may have a safe cadc. Good news for ken users =)
It seems pretty good. Gives Ken a safe way to apply pressure. His cr.mk xx CADC is already pretty good but it isn’t safe. Now we have a CADC that we can’t really be mashed out of.
I’m also wondering about the horizontal movement buff to Ken’s super art. Namely, how much farther. Will it be a good 2 frame punisher like Julia’s now? The damage increase may help with this as well. The buffs that they’re giving to the super make it sound like that’s what their going for; making it better for punishing.
They also buffed his hadoken a bit, so it’s not as unsafe…but it’s still pretty bad since it doesn’t appear that the recover frames were reduced at all. Cr. mk xx Hadoken is a bit better now, I guess.
I’m curious about the whole bit with being able to cancel the feint of Shiden Kakato Otoshi. That’s his :f: :hk:, right? Seems kind of a weird change…I wonder what tricks that could open up. Maybe CADC backwards during the feint to bait something? DP against mashed jabs? I wonder if cancelling the feint includes raw launcher…
I hope the PC gets 2012 at a reasonable time after the consoles. I wanna hit the lab already!
i’ve been wanting to hit the lab since the announcement came. I am a huge lab fiend with it comes to Lili though. I’m so so about Ken because he plays a certain role on my team.
His super arts will do 370 so pretty much you want him out with two bars because he can punish -2 frame moves with relative ease and it’s really awesome. That’s the buff i feel Ken really needed because it makes him a better anchor because your margin for error is small. It’ll probably make it a better anti air super arts as well because of the extended hit box. We’ll have to see when it drops though.
Hadoken buff is just whatever for me. Just like ryu’s but he still can get messed up for it if someone knows their frame data.
Yeah the f.hk one seems like a very interesting change. If he’s able to cancel it that means he can bait more. Even Cadc. That makes him more mobile than before. I guess they gave him that because he lacks kara which many people were butt hurt about ken not having. It’ll make his oki stronger though. I think ken already has a pretty good oki for a sf character.
tbh ken didn’t get a lot of nerfs. Lp dp imo did get a buff because upper body invincibility is important in his anti air game because mp dp may be the best dp but it’s still 5 frames to start up. Plus it’ll hit up higher and could lead to back mk ground bounce into some good mix up since ground bounces are considered hard knock downs.
the future for ken is looking bright but then that means we may see more kens on the way. Good and bad in a way =D
the buffs look ok. i still think he looks eh atm. i wish they would have gave him ryu walkspeed since ken has no kara-movement in this game to make getting across the screen faster. right now, he just feels incredibly slow and sluggish. and for FFS give him his far roundhouse from ae 2012. this version sucks donkey nuts.
Ken is indeed still weak. His mobility sucks. He walks too slow. But still he’s got the best tags and now his Super Art is even better.
