2012-2013 NFL Discussion and Fantasy - TornadoFlame vs Travis - The rest of you are bandwagoners

Ah, soon. Two years out of the game, time to get back into what I do best. Which is either winning greatly, or having the unluckiest drafts ever…

Out of curiosity has anyone ever participated in an auction style draft? Thoughts?

Auction is easily the fairest style draft and the best imo. Everybody has access to all players and you don’t have to reach for anything. Auction tends to reward those who understand FF more than snake draft. I obviously prefer it. Was there something in particular you wanted?

We can do that too. I like free stuff.

Ive done a few mocks , love how I didn’t have to reach and depend on a draft position to get a guy I like.

It was also more fun to draft , that feeling of should I pass again or not , the ability to run up bids on someone was also fun. And to nominate players who you wouldn’t want until the 15th round in a snake or a defense early and see how people react .

ON a side note people I have a odd question ,

I’m in 4 leagues total this year , the SRK and 3 real money ones. Never done more than 1 real money before , All 3 leagues are different , but my rankings for each are all pretty similar . After doing mocks for them all i noticed at times all 3 teams looked similar with a few different players ,

so my question is would it be best for me to kinda Hedge/Fade myself on the lowest buy in league which is 20$ and make it out of the players I passed on and that are different from the rest on the other teams, I do draft it last on Monday night which would make it easier …

I was just curious, I didn’t know how exactly it worked. Maybe next year both leagues should try auction style rather than snake for fun? Just a thought. I might try out an auction mock draft sometime today on ESPN. Do auction drafts usually take longer to run than snake drafts or is there a time limit per pick on those as well?

Looks like all MJD wanted to do was get out of preseason and training camp.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

All that posturing… all for nothing.

He held out for that, but he also wanted to get paid. Compared to what some of the RBs have made this year (Foster, Rice), he should get a little more, but he is a RB and already has quite a few miles on his legs. I think MJD can play at a great level for 2-3 more years, but because the Jags offense isn’t that good, they are going to run him to the ground.

Out of Ridley, Stewart, Young, Floyd, Benson, and Redman, who would you drop to snag a bye week qb?

Never done one on line. We did it the old school way.

Depends on who they’re facing. And what week it is.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

And which Floyd are you talking about? Michael? Or Malcolm?

It’s Malcolm and whoever I drop will be a permanent drop. That slot will be used to to rotate my bye week replacement for QB, TE, and DEF.

I’m ready to tear up this draft how can i fail i have the War Room behind me.

2 hours to go. I’m ready. All I need is Theme Music!

I would drop Redman or Ridley.

Not sure when Mendenhall is coming back but I know he’s about to get activated. Dwyer might start over Redman anyway or at the very least get more carries. Ridley has a legitimate shot at starting all year.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

So who else copped dat Madden besiedes me?

I got the number 1 pick in the draft. I was not mentally prepared for this. I have a feeling I’m gonna fuck up my draft.

As for Madden, I haven’t but my brother did (courtesy of some donation by me…). It’s…decent, but the kicking feels like crap honestly, and there’s a glitch from 2 player that I’ve noticed where I was hitting RT by habit and no matter what I did, I couldn’t hike the ball or do anything but look at playart or pause the game. I had to pause the game and call timeout three times in that game.

But yeah, I wasn’t feeling it that hard. I haven’t personally bought any sports game since 2010, and I’m not really missing it. Sports games in the end are gonna be screwed because at a point, they’re only gonna have maybe minute changes which would mean that they shouldn’t bother doing yearly updates and should only do roster updates, but by doing that they lose a hell of a lot of money they got from said yearly releases. Eventually it’s just gonna be a burn out.

McCoy #1, megatron falls to #9 and gronk over graham…

I have my reasoning for McCoy number 1.

A) Vick’s gonna get hurt. That’s just the way it is, and the Eagles #2 is a rookie. McCoy will get more touches to make it easier on him thus upping his numbers.
B) Healthy Schaub probably means the Texans air it out a bit more, especially if AJ can actually stay healthy himself. I expect reduced touches.

After that, it was pretty much a coin flip between McCoy and Ray Rice. Have a gut feeling though that Flacco’s gonna try and take more command of the offense and try to throw more, but that’s just a hunch at best. If anything though, I think the NFC East doesnt’ have much in the way of an intimidating Run D, so I trust McCoy a bit more.

Taking Peyton as early as I did though…shit, I hate having the first or last pick in the draft. Forces me to scramble more for picks and I panicked (VD was still on the board, I was miffed…thankfully got Hernandez later to make up for it somewhat).

Oh, he picked LeSean McCoy #1. I was about to say.

started a new job today, so i had to be in early. just missed the draft =/.

glad i got chris johnson…not happy with schaub.
