Why would I not have taken Schaub that high??
Drew Brees
Tom Brady
Matt Stafford
Aaron Rodgers
Cam Newton
Had already been acquired, stats wise Matt Schaub despite his injury posted great stats, My options were Eli manning, M.Vick,Tony Romo,Peyton Manning,Philip Rivers,Matt Ryan and Ben Roth
If I had not taken him then I’d be stuck with Alex Smith at QB and no legit backup because Ben Roth would have been gone the round I acquired him, along with Tony and Peyton
(The CPU actually picked Alex Smith for me)
In regards to Darren Sproles you are right but when I looked at the RB’s that SHOULD go ahead of him, all of them were coming off of injury and behind some pretty bad O-Lines, J.Charles,A.Peterson etc he is a reach that early and I agree, I wanted D.Murray at that slot and he was in my que I do not know why his name was not highlighted before D.Sproles.
In the 6th Round of our draft everyone was going after backup WR’s and filling those slots, I felt that was my chance to acquire a top#3 Defense to possibly cover holes I knew I would have on my bench and at the Flex position, other than D.Jackson NO ONE drafted in the 6th Round by other team owners caught my interest (Maybe Matt Ryan but I liked Schaub over him)
In Regards to Fantasy Drafting in general, some people do not seem to understand that their are “In Draft Trends” started.
Some people will reach as Swordsman pointed out in regards to me and suddenly other individuals will modify they’re own drafting schedule to follow suit trying not to miss out on the opportunity to acquire whatever/whomever.
People begin to follow the trend if person A.) Gathers 2 top players within the same position example: If I had gotten A.Johnson but drafted say G.Jennings right after or L.Fitzgerald, someone then may reach for 2 top ranked RB’s or 2 top Ranked WR’s to follow
I didn’t draft well at all this season I was working a 12 in a half hour shift and was running off my line to run to the laptop when I heard the ESPN sound play threw the radio (I am a sous chef)
The team I drafted last year was pretty good but injuries caught me and took me out and NO ONE WANTED TO TRADE, I wanted to try my best to steer clear of as many injury prone players as possible so Black Jesus when you asked why do I have 3 QB’s the CPU drafted Alex Smith for me BUT for the past 3 seasons there has been multiple teams deep at the QB position but those guys did it by choice
Eli put up great numbers in a pass heavy, deep ball oriented offense and won a Super Bowl. Even if you think Vick will get hurt, Romo will derp games away, and Peyton won’t flourish in Denver, you’re still pretty crazy to pick Schaub over Eli.
I’d LOVE to hear your reasons as to why Schaub > Eli.
Until last season he always threw INT’s he lost 2 TE’s the past two or three seasons BUT he will have 2 WR’s in Hicks and Cruz but the Giants game was and always has been centered around the run, anytime he’s had to throw 24 or more times his INT’s would go up, I liked Schaub over Eli, Schaub has been 4,000 Yards and or above for a while now.
I’ve had Vick in two leagues… Two SRK Leagues at that,he always got injured and cost me MUST WIN GAMES, Romo lost his shoulder last yand yes Romo may derp games but he will also GIVE them away, he has lost his #1 target for a while and for some reason I am not all that confident in the Cowboys offense do to all the injuries they had last season and the few in coming this season.
I am a Patriots fan…why would I draft Peyton Manning???
So what evidence to you have to support that he’s gonna fall back into past season’s performance numbers? Seems to me like he’s poised to keep it rolling.
If you make a decision based soley on numbers last year then you aren’t going to win the league. Every year there is a player and team that surprises positively and negitivly. You have to base some decision on numbers but also the matchups, break out years, injuries, and how you personally feel. There is no point going all in to trade two starters for Foster if he gets you ino the playoffs and then gets injured or looses production right before the championship game.
Anyway, personally I like Matty Ice and Big Ben over Schaub because I believe both will be more productive, even more so than Eli. That said Eli would be a much safer pick and I coul probably wait an extra round or two before choosing my QB. The texans however have lost a lot in free agency. But if you think that both Schaub and Andre will stay healthy, if you think that Foster will still help defenses focus on him rather than the passin game, if you like their schedule (which defensively I do) then yeah I can see hU you went for him so early. Judging from what people were picking though, you can wait another round.
Why do I feel like I am one of the few Redskin fans who have any sense. Some Skins fans are starting to become just as bad as cowboy fans. I guess it’s true what they say, you and your rival tend to think alot. :shake:
@Cool-Breeze - Honestly, I was more mad than inquisitive of you taking Sproles because I wanted in our draft, until I learned I had the last friggin pick. Honestly, I liked Sproles over FJ, Lynch, Jamal Charles and a couple of other backs int that spot. I kinda thought he might slide to the 3rd round but I really can’t fault you for taking him early because I don’t really like those backs too.
As for Schaub… man, the Texans are a run-first offense. They only let Schaub turn it loose if they’re trailing by two scores. He’ll throw a couple oof bombs to AJ in every game, true. But that’s why you get AJ early (and hope he doesn’t get hurt). The Giants haven’t really been a “run-first” offense for some time now (that’s why I traded for him last year. Thanks Kaz! ). Schaub will give you one week of 400+ yards and then follow it up with 3 straight 187yd 1td games. I used to be able to count on him getting into shootouts with Peyton, but now that his division is a cesspool of shitty teams, that’s 6 games where you can count on Foster getting 25+ touches and Tate getting 10 and Schaub throwing maybe 18 passes.
I see Schaub as a high end backup qb. Like… if I drafted Vick, I would try to get Schaub in round 8/9/10. I’d take Eli, Peyton, and Big Ben over Schaub.
This has been THEINVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
Jerry Jones is rapping his way to the glory hole.
People kill me when they respond with “Oh if you are drafting based upon stats you will lose” like wtf it’s fantasy football (Not You swordsman but people in general)…it’s centered around stats.
How many people take Vick high as hell…because of his stats, acquire a solid WR but miss out on a good RB then fall victim to Vick’s injuries and cannot trade to fill the void??
Numerous times in the SRK Leagues there has been individuals with multiple QB’s (Like my current situation of having 3 QB’s)some totally un played and wouldn’t trade them, they had a legit backup but wouldn’t let one QB go.
I personally didn’t want to take a chance on Ben as my #1 who’s O-Line is still pretty horrible and yes I know he still throws pretty well behind them, who’s new O Coordinator is expected to take Pits back to the old school ground and pound, who’s starting and now #1 WR is not happy with his contract, Who’s RB core is suspect due to injuries, I consider Ben a Backup for “THIS SEASON” due to those issues.
The Cpu drafted A.Smith but if he could live up to all of his weapons he could be a viable choice and end up being my #1 QB…problem is the 49ers schedule, there are plenty of games where they could out score any of there opponents JUST because of the defense, A.Smith only threw 5 Int’s last season but he didn’t really win them many games with his arm either but his new weapons are sexy and interesting.
Compared to Eli,Schaub etc Ben Roth has only had 2 seasons with 4,000 yards but double figures in INT’s and with his schedule and the information I posted up above…yea fill in the blanks.
(Teams I think I’d have a little concern about in regards to A.Smith’s numbers)
Green Bay (Could be a shoot out)
D.Lions (I think they have injuries)
N.Y.Jets
N.Y. Giants
C.Bears
N.O. Saints
N.E. Patriots
(Teams I think I’d have a little concern about in regards to M.Schaubs numbers)
B.Ravens
C.Bears
N.E. Patriots
Lions (Like I said injuries I am not sure of)
(Teams I think I’d have a little concern about in regards to B.Rape-em-all-burger’s numbers)
Jets
Raiders
Eagles
Bengals (Twice)
Giants
Chiefs
Ravens (Twice)
Chargers (Cause I don’t think P.Rivers will have consecutive bad seasons despite the Chargers not having a legit #1 WR)
Cowboys
