2011 Moderator Election (Results Pending)

Why not throw my hat in.
I try and help out as much as I can around tech talk. That’s really it. I’m also on the forums most of the time.
<edit> Oh, I used to be a moderator over at bemanistyle lol back in the dark ages.

I see what you did there, well played.

Hell, I’ll nominate myself just so I can wield a banhammer with a godly fist, striking all who oppose me and Tech Talk.
"This hand of mine glows with an awesome power! Its burning grip tell me to BAN you!"
Should people nominate themselves? I think its better if people nominate others, shows the community recognizes the fact that the prospect is a useful being.

I start trends, yo.

Which is why it’s a good idea. I’d have supported you if you’d have wanted to do it.

Duckie doesn’t make me think of hats though.
Duckie makes me think of panties.
Laugh.

You must be pretty old then rimshot

Dookie makes you think of panties? o_O

DON’T BRING MY AGE INTO THIS, YOU YOUNG WHIPPER-SNAPPER!!! is 30

(PS: :p)

Well I guess the fact is that, like Toodles’ showed, people could be nominated and not at all want that responsibility. There might even be people in this forum that overlook this topic, then surprise! They’re a mod a few days later! They refuse, we restart the process.

So the point is getting one now that wants the task and is willing to step up to get it, and not after multiple votes or something.

And the people so far that have put themselves into candidacy all look to be well-equipped and known to be decent, helpful individuals in Tech Talk, so it’s not like random new member has jumped in.

Plus by the process of voting, I think we’d end up avoiding someone who is ill-equipped to mod Tech Talk becoming a mod.

Distracted by panties.
Spelling fail.
Laugh.

I vote for d3v, Just cause his names d3v.

16-3A5 from Omron. As found in the JLF clone in the MadCatz Stick.

Points taken, carry on then. So, once all the names are collected, a new thread with a poll? Or vote by post in the thread? And should there be a certain amount of time put into the forums for a vote to count? Definitely no accounts made the day of the voting.

There should obviously be a tournament to decide the moderator.

I suggest SNES Mario Kart Battle Mode.

I’ll throw my name in the pot.

Qualifications:

  • Avid read of tech talk for about four years
  • Built two American sticks from scratch
  • Built two Japanese sticks from blank cases
  • Hacked about a dozen pads
  • Modded and fixed numerous sticks for friends
  • Written two guide threads for the Newbie Dojo (with nearly 40k views between the two of them)
  • Contributed to the “what stick should I buy?” portion of the absolute newbie thread
  • Past experience moderating gaming websites

If elected, I will do a new HDTV thread, which we desperately need. If not me, I’m of the opinion that whoever does make a new HDTV thread needs to have mod powers, as the signal to noise ratio in that thread is simply too high for it to be at all useful any longer.

I should mention, I would most likely be closer in moderation style to Shoo than say Kyle. (Though l will strive to be less abrasive! <3 Shoo.)

Seriously, I can’t believe people actually volunteer for mod duty.

well in that case should i not nominate other people who sell things/make money in the forum too? (legitimate question not troll)
yeah cause i was thinking toodles at first too but that makes perfect sense about the bias etc

i could think of a few others in tech talk who would wouldnt be bad either like gummowned idk

I’ll add a poll to the thread. Some good people have volunteered!

As much as I like Toodles, I can’t see him nagging people to not quote images. It doesn’t seem like his style.

I vote for Duck.

Dunno why anyone would want to be a mod, though.

i lazy.

Nomination for Gummowned!

Starcade RIP would be good for Tech Talk.
