2 PCB's in one stick - Possible?

How would one do a solderless hook up with Toodles Chtulu ps3 board + 360 SE stick…

I only require 6 buttons …and start/select buttons to get past menus

and oh, I would be running 2 USBs out…one for ps3 and one for 360?

im completely clueless as where to start…

Tsumani, you’d pretty much just be adding an extra wire (soldering it in) to each of the button + direction inputs in the SE, and then each of those wires would go to a lead/spot on the Cthulhu. You’d also then connect the +5 (or +3.3, whatever it is) V on the 360 PCB to the Cthulhu’s +V spot, and GND to GND.

So I am getting ready to build a new stick here and I wanna do a dual pcb. I play 360 most of the time so I would like to do that pcb wireless, I have read you can’t do dual wireless, so then for the ps3 pcb I will use a Cthulhu I guess. Is there any reason this will give me grief? how do I make it so when I press the power button when playing ps3 it won’t turn on my 360 and f it up? once I started thinking about these issues I was thinking maybe I should just do two wired pcb’s and forget wireless one. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction.

i want to put a cut usb cable in the cthulhu for dual mod going to an usb hub or an imp.
the usb cable has 5 wires where do i soldier the sground wire on the cthulhu?
is it one of those 2 bigger holes underneath the other 4 wires where the optional usb jack goes or must i solder the ground and sground together and make it one ground?
i want to dual mod my madcatz SE stick for the 360 and saw ground and a sground on this pcb.

some help please.

do i need a cthulhu? can’t i just have a ps1 pcb and a madcatz 360 pcb and solder them to the buttons?

you can dual the madcatz and ps1 controllers, you’ll have two wires coming out of the box and the madcatz should be common ground

I’ve got a 360 TE that I want to dump my Cthulhu in and have a 2nd cable coming out of.

I plan to buy 28-30 AWG stranded wire so that I can slip it in the ribbon connections. As I see it, there are ribbon connections for everything all the buttons and stick connections. The only thing I will have to solder then will be the 5V connection on the TE PCB.

Actually, there is another PCB that has ribbon connections for USBVCC (I think that is what it says) and XGUILD near the top left of the TE. Is will can the USBVCC work for my 5V power and is the XGUILD the guide button?

Help much appreciated, thank you!

ShinJN’s solderless ribbon trick can be seen here - http://sdtekken.com/2009/02/07/shinjns-workshop-sf4-tournament-edition-stick-modding/

I did this tonight and it works perfectly. Make sure that no wires are touching each other (duh) and make sure all connections are snug. Thank you MarkMan for making such an easy to mod product.

I know this probably isn’t the thread to ask, but Toodles (or anyone) do you know who manufactures the PCBs that go in the Madcatz TE/SE sticks? If so, do you think there is a possible way to order just the PCBs directly from the company? I ask because these are much much easier to work on than normal 360 pcbs, they’re small, and there will be no issues with potentiometers.

I’m currently working on a large batch of mods to old stick cases and since some of them are really small I’m having difficulties fitting in 360 PCBs, so I was wondering if this was possible at all. If we have to do large batch orders I have no problem buying a ton and selling them for very minimal profit here.

How many pcbs are you gonna try and fit into the wii fight stick? Its a pretty tight fight already. Ive done a dual mod, but i doubt you could fit more, especially if your keeping the wii pcb too.

Anyone know of any sites besides ebay that i can pick up a wii fight stick for real cheap?

I’ve done a search but couldnt find an answer. I’ve been modding a few TEs en EX2s and am now working on my custom. I’ve got a 4716 madcatz PCB and MC Cthulhu board.

I intend to piggyback the 4716 to the Cthulhu. If I use a USB hub, to which I connect both PCBs, does the USB hub take care of the required ground and VCC connection between the 2 PCBs? Or will I need to draw 2 additional cables between the 2 PCBs, connecting non-USB related VCC and ground points between them?

I also read quite a few pages back some ppl were having trouble using madcatz PCBs in dual PCB setups with a USB hub? I guess the best thing to do is combine the 4716 I intend to use with the hub and my TE PS3 stick and test it like this on both PS3 and 360. That should pretty much tell me if it will work in my custom with a similar setup, but with the Cthulhu instead of the TE PS3, right?

Edit

My TE works on the PS3 through a hub with the 360 madcatz hooked up alongside it, and the madcatz pad works on the 360 through the hub with the TE PS3 hooked up alongside it.

So my only remaining question is whether I need to draw separate VCC and groud cables between a 4716 PCB and a MC Cthulhu PCB when they are connected through a USB hub.

Anyone got pictures and DIY for the wiring the PS3 sixaxis and the 360 pcb together on one stick. I have the pin outs from slagcoin but nothing show exactly how to wiring them to gether with a switch of some sort. If you got a link much appreciated.

BTW I’ve searched for two days now and have not seen what I want to do. It is always with madcats and toodles or some other combo.

has anyone figured out a good way to solder to the home button on the hrap3 pcb ?

Well, the Wii PCB was supposedly not common ground anyway, so I just ended up throwing that out and soldering in a PSX digital pad PCB anyway. =D Has been working perfectly for Rival Schools and Guilty Gear so far.

As for the space, well, I’m going an alternate route i mentioned a number of pages back. I’m going to just have a cable going out of the stick, carrying the wires for each of the signals. Then I’ll have “adapter boxes” that hook into this cable (the PCBs will be stored in these boxes). Not only am I making the joystick modular, but also saving room and cutting down on actual working inside the stick case itself.

The way I look at it, I’ll also be making an adapter box for gamecube. This way I can still use the stick in a “dual PCB” setup and play fighters on Wii. (Since every fighter I’ve seen on Wii supports cube controller anyway)

Overall, it seems like a real nice stock stick + buttons for modding purposes. (Especially for the price)

Usb hub

I have heard you guys speak a bit about using a usb hub for multi usb pcb connrctions. I was wondering if anyone had any more information on that. Thanks guys.

about to do a ps2 / 360 dual pcb mod on my HRAP1.

I’m curious, is there any way to easily map the 360 Guide button to Start + Select when soldering it to a HRAP1 pcb?

Madcatz SE + Playstation 1 Dual Shock A (Late Version)

Need Help…Plz!

need some help troubleshooting… I wired up the Madcatz 360 SE stick’s pcb with a Playstation 1 Dual Shock A (Late Version). Both are common ground and I hooked everything as it should. I double and triple checked everything again. I was playing it all week long and using it on my 360, my PS3 (had a converter for ps2 to ps3) and also on my Wii (Ps2 to GC converter). I was happy with everything…UNTIL… I was going to play today and I lost use of all the "kick buttons … that is A /B /RT /LT…strange though… A and B still function menu wise , however when in SFIV, it will not kick. Is the PCB bad? I tried the PS3 and xbox360 and the reaction is the same for both. I also tried to set the turbo in xbox 360… all lights came on except RT / LT. Can anyone give me some enlightenment?

Can a Madcatz 4716 (Version E) XBOX360 gamepad be dual modded with a Cthulhu?..How do I wire up the triggers for this gamepad…can someone point me to a link on how to do it?

Thanks!
