This PCB looks nearly identical to one I got from GameStop, which is common ground. Here’s my diagram for it. I asked Slagcoin to put it up on his site but he said that he’s busy with life at the moment.
Ouch, could that one pic be taken without the flash on that reflection is pretty pronounced.
Ok so I was looking at this diagram
http://homepage.mac.com/cramlet/.Pictures/extra/dualpcb1.jpg
and I was wondering why the switch is connected to the + and - data and not the 5V? I thought we’d want to cut off power from the unused pad more so than just data. Are there easy to use switches that would switch all 5v, D+, and D- at the same time?
OK, I hooked up a Madcatz CG PCB into my HRAP3. When I plug it in, the 4 LED’s blink for a bit then turn off. Windows says “USB device not recognized”. The XBOX detects nothing. When I flip the switch to PS3 mode, the HRAP works great in windows and the PS3.
What should I be checking for on the Madcatz PCB? There are 2 black wires coming out of the USB header, but I only connected to 1 of them, could that be an issue? Here are some pics
You have the same pad and same problem I am having with mine. I’ve been trying to find an answer for a week. only thing I can think of is the D+ and D- might be switched. At least that’s what toodles was saying.
I don’t believe you need to connect the other black wire (far end). Its the shielded ground for the cable. I actually did connect it and ran it to the new shield in my USB terminal… but it sparked when I connected it to the xbox and gave me errors. I disconnected it and haven’t had any problems.
@Mindz I’ll try switching the D+ and D- wires when i get home tonight.
@IceWilly Thanks for the confirmation
Let me know if that’s the case and if you can, label out that horizontal section for me so I can make sure I have it right or not.
@Icewilly, I believe Ihave two ground wires also (1 from usb data wire section and one from the buttons. I’ll see if removing that works too.
Mindz, thanks for the tip. It Worked! Swaping the D- & D+ did the trick. The PCB works great now. All I need to do now is figure out the easiest way to get the triggers working…Any thoughts?
Right now I’ve still got the pots in there. I have some resistors I can use, but no transistors. What do you (or anybody) suggest?
Go to a local electronics store and ask them for it. Also, did you happen to label which wire is which for those D- and D+? That’s the only thing I can’t find a diagram for to check mine.
If you’re talking the same pad that TEKWRX pictured up, there’s original wiring left connected to the 5 pin connector. The white one is D-, green is D+
Than I’m sure that’s what my problem is. Toodles, your instructable says this:
According to the picture from TEKWRX, the white (D-) is next to the power, not next to the ground as stated in the instructable.
Help;
I am putting together a DC pad with PS2 pad. My question is that I am using a P360 stick so do i need to connect the 5v wire from the DC and the 3.3v from the PS2 Furthermore, what wire would got to the P360 stick. Thanks in advance for any help.
i was looking at the dpdt switch diagram. if i use an official 360 wireless hacked pcb then it doesn’t matter that the pcb isn’t a common ground right? i plan on running the 360 pcb only on batteries and wireless.
Well I was able to get mine to work. It turns out that the order of the X360_1 and X360_2 wires in the instructable are reversed for the 2008 madcatz wired pcb. Switching the D+ and D- worked perfectly. I have now been able to complete all the akuma hard trials instead of being stuck with 1 completed with the pad.
Thanks again to Toodles for the amazing UPCB and thanks to TEKWRK for accidentally(?) leaving 1/4" of the original wire sticking out of the wired pcb enabling me to second check the usb data wires against the instructable.
See you guys on XBL soon!
common ground
the madcatz “4758”
is it common ground (will i be able to implement in a dual pcd stick ?)
im so sorry for posting but i have been reading this thread all day.
what do i hook up from the cthulhu to the dpdt switch.
got the d- and d+ for my 360 pad searching all over.
the pictures im seeing doesnt have the d- and d+ that i see on the cthulhu diagram on the welcome sheet soldered. is it just the vcc and a ground?
thanks in advance.

Check that post, there’s a well thought out diagram there. It’s back on page 18.
The D column is D-, the E column is D+
