1st Time at Evo

Finally making it down to one of these this year with a friend and we were wondering…

  1. when spectator passes go on sale? I’m an early bird and I don’t want to miss out ( especially since airfare and hotel is booked. We are coming from Toronto )

  2. I’ve read that getting arcade sticks through airports is time consuming. Can anyone tell me what I should be expecting ( like taking it apart and showing whats inside )

Yo!
First of all it was a good decision to come to evo, it’s deffinately something every fighting game player should experience, as for getting registered for passes, i think they went on sale about 5 months before the event last year,
And as for the airport question i would just suggest calling the airline, i mean they let laptops on as carryons right? I dont see why they would deny a stick

I’ve taken my stick in a carry-on before. All I suggest is bringing the necessary tools to open it up if they ask; they shouldn’t have any issues beyond that.

Smear deodorant on your upper lip or walk around with an air fresher around your neck.

Other than that, it’s your regular anime convention except more black people and more games.

Wait, what problems are people having with airport security and sticks? The most I’ve seen is they request separate trays for laptops and such. Has anyone actually has their sticks needed to be disassembled? That sounds a bit…excessive.

My stick was analyzed at EVERY SINGLE airport. One of the guards even put some “bomb discovering dust” on it and put it in some odd machine.
Then again i’m not american (I’m from Brazil) so I don’t know if they tend to be more suspicious or something…

That’s crazy hardcore, I had like no problem at all. Funny thing.

Having your stuff dusted for explosives is nothing new to me…I went to a wedding a few months ago, and they dusted a Bible I had with me for explosives! As long as I won’t be forced to disassemble my stick (which I’ve never done, period) at the airport, I don’t think there will be a problem.
