1994 Capcom Official SSF2 Tournament -Super Just Games- Northbrook, IL - Game Footage

Shit made me shed a tear. The Streetfighter cab made me feel like I was 6 all over.

man I’d mad I had to miss out on stuff like this. Awesome footage dude.

wow this brings back memories…this was my first tourny…i was 9 lol

also im 99% sure that isnt eddie ferrier in the vid you have him labled in…dunno who it is tho lol

9!
I know you’re a beast but I didnt know you were once a 'lil beast.

Links to the scans of the article in the '94 Game Pro for this tournament have been posted buy Crayfish last month in the SF2 HF thread.

Now with the vids this is probably the oldest largely documented event I’ve seen for Street Fighter.

Vintage stuff right there. Thanks for showing them to us, JHow.:pray:

I e-mailed this on the Twin Galaxies staff. I’m hoping that this information gets on their main page. This is truly amazing, this stuff makes me wish I was old enough to be there.

By the way, do you plan on picking up STHD Remix?

holy shit at that little kid’s fei long. That was harry potter before mvc2 potter. This footage is awesome, there was more strategy and tactics in these american vids than in any of the asian HF vids posted in the hf thread.

HOLY SHIT!!!

I am in the first couple of vids quite a bit, surprisingly (short guy, wearing a mustard colored Stussy hat). The guy being interviewed (“There was even a guy who I think said he was from one of the Midwest states who said Theres life and then theres Street Fighter. Its hilarious.”) in the third clip, from New York is **talking **about me as well. His name is Chris, the other that traveled with us was Scott, who made it to the semi-finals, I think… I am the one who called them up, asking what they would be doing in March. Heck, I’m right by him as he finishes talking. SF was his life. Hell, after that event, he flew out and stayed a week or two with Steve Warwick at his place.

I ended up taking Mike Watson and Steve Warwick to the airport the next day. Along with all of Mikes winning prizes. (Sega CD hahahaha)

I think we all stayed at the same hotel, and yes, you were conceited as hell lol. I played you once using my Claw, and somehow won vs. your Ken…which surprised the hell outta me. But you promptly whooped the piss out of me with Dhalsim

Thanks a TON for those vids man. A LOT of fun memories from that trip.

WITHOUT A DOUBT!!!

I figured there were people still in the scene from these vids. I’m glad you’re still around. How was it seeing yourself from almost 15 years ago? =)

Crazy man. Crazy. Can’t thank you enough for posting these things.

Not to mention, I have been looking around for people that were at that event. This is the first I have seen.

I forgot to mention - anyone that wants a copy on DVD which is MUCH better quality let me know. I’ll be bringing a bunch to MWC this year.

How much would you sell/ship them for? I would LOVE one.

Good stuff JHow. That brought me back to my days in 94 playing SF and all that stuff.

On another note, I can’t believe Capcom was stupid enough to make Super as slow as they did

Vintage. Old school. Timeless. All of those and whatever other synonyms you can think of. I haven’t even finished watching the first video yet. Thanks for sharing these.

I love the background music playing in the arcade, during that Fei Long vs. Guile match… Stevie Ray Vaughan - The Sky Is Crying. Coincidental and oddly appropriate at the same time.

Man, you people who are able to go to tournaments like that are very lucky.

I can honestly say, I never, ever expected to see this posted almost 15 years after that event occurred. Completely taken back, and am so glad I took the time to drive 14 hours to attend such a prestigious event.

Who would have guessed?

Get out there and attend those tourneys!

Hell, I may make it a point to start making a reserve of custom cases to sell at Final Round from here on out.

Holy fuck this is awesome stuff. Thanks for these vids.

Not sure if last post took, that’s great to see guys!
