I know a lot of knowledge you drop are facts and most people on SRK don’t want to listen to any of it so I understand if you want to stop posting here. I think if you keep your posts more PG instead of attitude era then you will be able to dodge the bans but yea that kills a lot of personalities.

That’s probably why nobody knows who he is. I see people with 12 year join dates but nobody can remember them because they hid during the golden era, they were nobodies. Meanwhile we remember guys like bloofy, apoc and others because they had substance.
I don’t think Wiz cares, he always wanted to get rid of GD anyway, but it’s kind of sad to see what it is now, after seeing what it once was. How could it become this pathetic?

I actually remember Wiz when he was making those guides and I had my first SRK account but never actually went on the site because it was too racist and cutthroat for me. I’ll give old SRK credit though because it had better rivalries, better trolls, and better stories than any other site. People think AngelPalm is hard now but he is like a super soft version of Adam Warlock. Back then people would make entire threads just to jump people and hijack threads.
I think Wiz does care, but he wants SRK to expand, and in order to do that, he needs to cater to a larger audience, which includes casuals and those who do not like profanity and the like (a category which I now fall under actually so I understand).
The change SRK underwent has made it boring and back in the day the best fighting game players posted on SRK but now it looks like they’re gone from here and it looks like anyone who wants to continue to post on this site has to undergo the change as well or look for a different site.
Fighting games had a brief revival with SFIV and that’s probably what Wiz was looking to capitalize on. I know there were some sponsorships too, although I never bothered to look into actual numbers.
But with Capcom’s problems I don’t think that is going to continue. The big hitters have their own sites, for Tekken, SC or Smash, and this was really for Capcom and Marvel. But it looks like Capcom is done again, Seth has already jumped ship and that’s probably because the ship was sinking and he didn’t want to ruin his career by staying too long for that. I think Sirlin might still be around but his main interest was ST and I think that is pretty much finished up. Capcom doesn’t know how to expand the genre or keep it going, I think they will either move to 3D or just move on, the money just is not there.
@ serpent, first time i got banned i had it coming. back in 2000 or 2001 when i just joined this site and started asking for roms, lol. that was a big no no apparently, even though all the arcades in my country had died by then. (no company was making money on arcade games since then, so no harm actually but i understand their move).
all the other times were basically for the same reason. back then (even now probably for mostbut they stfu about it) everybody was fucking racist against arabs and muslims in general. almost no american would believe (americans generally STILL can’t believe it) that their own government had a hand in 911. im not an arab nor a practicing muslim but i wondered how the us members would react if you said the same bigoted and racist shit to them (since non of the actual arabs or muslims or people who thought it was wrong had the balls to open their mouth). apparently americans ain’t good at the receiving end, only on the giving hand. when they said shit nobody said anything about it even though they were being wrong, but when somebody said shit back it was appalling. just like these racist posters were generalising all arabs and all muslims, i was doing the same bout all americans. again, doing it 1 way is fine but done the other way around and it’s just unacceptable. i basically just proved my point and got banned for it again and again.
since then talks about religion an racism have toned down, but i sure as hell wasn’t hoping srk would become the bitchmade version of itself that it is today. the awesome thing bout srk was if you were wrong, you got mass shitted on. i actually really liked that aspect bout the old srk. when there’s an actual reason and truth behind it these public forum lynchings were fine and funny. it made people think twice before posting bs, cause you would get checked for that shit and if wrong wrecked for that shit. but the unjustied generalising and racism was not cool. the mods and members agreed cause they really weren’t good at receiving what they were giving. it’s just a shame non of the mods or us members themselves tried to stop this and be sensible about it. but i think most of them were probably too bitchmade back then to say something about it, probably cause they would have been seen as unpatriotic or unamerican. guess giving you own opinion was only fine if you had the same opinion as the rest of the sheep.
i think i might have been involved with the banning of the word fag, it was my stopword. i never used it against gays in general, though sometimes when referring to gays i woud just say fags with no harm intended. i mostly used it for people acting like fags, something that you can do without being a homosexual. even southpark and chris rock tried to explain this to the general public, but srk sadly doesn’t understand it.
i came to this forum for the same reason as i bet alot of people did, fucking Alpha 3, lmao.
The whole strugle our generation has over the difference of PG era SRK and the old Attitude era SRK has hit me harder. You can see the bloodshed wars i have with the UMVC3 tier thread, a thread in which 90% of the posters there are 1-4 year old guys who do nothing but blog about how characters who are overshadowed by over 5+ characters in tournaments for over 2 years are considered the best and broken characters in the game. I totally see my comings in that thread like an old power ranger episode where the Green Ranger makes his debute, invades the megazord and just dumps them out like punks.
I think most of you can remember my constant bitching of how Shoryuken became populated by girlymen because it really got me aggrivated to the point that i felt that i was just too old to keep swinging it like i did 6+ years ago. I noticed the change of SRK around 5 years ago when my great threads started getting locked after it’s 3rd page. Past SRK never did that, past SRK would have my thread 5 starred after 5 min of it’s conception.
If I get banned on SRK, so be it. I’ve had more years on this site than I thought I’d ever have. Hell, the people I enjoyed being here aren’t here anymore and the new guys aren’t that entertaining. If I have to read another anime weeaboo vs. anime weeaboo thread again I may just go kill myself.
Past SRK’s more lax moderation meant more entertaining flame wars but it also gave a lot of really stupid people the impression that they were intelligent, based solely on how well received their posts were.
Without the nostalgia glasses, look back at the archives. Really look. It’s like the NES or PSX: 1 piece of gold for every 10 terrible posts, and threads allowed to just continue that way.
