(11/20 PSN!) SG: Slightly Different Edition patch notes

I think tear explosions work like Ms. Fortune’s head in that they are non-move hits, so you can’t cause an infinite with them.

PC port was promised for summer. Which means september in worst case scenario.

Makes no difference if it doesn’t pass the first time or they don’t choose to look at it for a while, so it would be misinformation mostly…

PC version is uh…in truth, I am not personally working on it at all beside having helped decide which things need to get done a long time ago, so I’m not going to be very good at informing you of the progress. Ask Autumn. >.< I will say that July was a temp date that some sites decided on, and I was surprised to see that.

Explosions count as a hit toward damage scaling, they always have, just that now they are actually using the formula instead of always doing 450 dmg…so scale them like normal hits would be in your estimate, both for ratio and combo scaling. Each special move counts as separate, so Tear Shots are not Tear Tosses, but all Tear Shots are the ‘same move’ and all Tear Tosses are the ‘same move’. Projectiles which hit count as their creation state hitting, and if you chain into that it follows the same rules as regular specials do so it won’t trigger IPS.
Examples are always easier, so let’s assume that if you could combo anything and you’re past Stage 2:
Chain to Tear Shot, shot hits (uses up Tear Shot), explosion hits (was created from un-used-up state so is OK), another Tear Shot by itself = trigger IPS.
Chain to Tear Shot, shot hits (uses up Tear Shot), explosion hits (OK), chain to another Tear Shot (chained into = OK), explosion hits (chained into = OK).
Note that “chained into” means an attack in the chain hit, so you can’t get around IPS by doing normal-kara-special without the normal hitting, since that counts as un-chained. One of the KOFs had an infinite prevention system that could be gotten around that way, so you could do like s.A~DP+A with Iori for an infinite juggle, heh.
Tear Toss counts the same way, based on when the projectile hits. So in theory if you could chain to some tosses, then toss some more before the first ones explode and hit, the 2nd set of raw tosses is still OK.

So basically, Tear Shot is safe from IPS as longs as you cancel it from a normal (that hit) ? I guess what I’m trying to ask is: How do you define “chaining” to a special move like Tear Shot or tear explosion?

What about Tear Explosion, if you do eg. s.HP, s.HP xx tear shot, s.LP, st.MP xx tear explosion, s.HP, s.HP xx tear shot, how does the part around tear explosion behave, does this cause starting of a new chain after/before the explosion, or is that considered chaining MP into explosion into HP?

"Skullgirls Coming for Xbox and Playstation early 2012"
“Skullgirls was promised for early 2012. That means February in a worst case scenario”
“Oh god it’s March. I’m boycotting the game”

The game will be out when it’s out. Arbitrarily assigning a Worst Case Scenarios does no one any good and just drives the forum mad complaining about delayed releases.

Chains are defined solely by your character going into a non-attack state after hitting with something. So s.LP->s.MP(+explosion)->s.HP is one chain, whereas s.LP->s.MP(+explosion), s.LP is two. If you delay the s.HP in the first example until after the s.MP completely finishes, that’s also two chains.
Chaining into a special move is exactly that - did you chain (and hit) into the special, or not. The projectile that’s left around afterward inherits the properties of the action that created it, it doesn’t change your character’s definition of chains at all. So if one part of the projectile is “safe” from IPS, all of it is.

In fact, hitting with a projectile just makes the action that creates it count as “having hit”…so if you have a move that can both hit and creates a projectile like Peacock’s s.HP, the projectile hitting will ‘use up’ the state as a chain starter even if you hit with the physical part next time. So if you were after Stage 2 and these examples had huge hitstun so they would combo, they would all trigger IPS:
s.HP (hit only, say cancel into teleport), another s.HP (hit)
s.HP (hit), another s.HP (projectile)
s.HP (projectile), another s.HP (hit)
s.HP (projectile), another s.HP (projectile)
But chaining into the 2nd s.HP would make it not trigger IPS, in all cases. Hopefully that makes sense.

k, I’ll roll with it

O_o
But you do have saying in its future right? Because I’d like to run to you crying if something in this version will end up screwed so you can get that stuff sorted out, right?
Right?..

Yes you are right :stuck_out_tongue: jajajjajajaj It´s better that they release the game when it´s stable to give a good experience to the players. It´s just that some pc players are anxius to play this awesome game, some news of the development would be nice, but anyway the wait will be worth it.

Love you reverge labs for all the hard work  you are doing the things right =)

I certainly hope so, and I’m sure I’ll have a say before it gets released. But I am not working on it right now, which is the honest answer so I gave it.

out of curiosity, is there any chance that in any patches after the most recently upcoming one, you could include a screen size adjuster? I only ask because my tv is kind of fucked up and I normally get a bit of the sides lopped off of my picture. Now it normally is just barely noticeable but for some reason on SkullGirls, I can’t see an entire half of the super meter on either side of the screen. For the record no my tv is not HD but it is a large flatscreen.

I believe if you go to settings their is an option to adjust your HUD size so it can work for your television

Good lookin out. I checked the settings for 5 minutes and managed to miss it somehow. I’m fuckin retarded for that one

I hope so too. Thank you for answer.

Does the approval process continue to process on weekends? I’m becoming extremely anxious to play post-patch SkullGirls either today or tomorrow! It’s about 2 weeks since EVO.

Dude…relax. It’ll be here when it gets here

Yeah now that I’ve gotten a little hate in my heart for Marvel (I cannot fucking stand infinites) I’ve been fully ready to dive back into SG, but I’m waiting on the patch as well.

Anywho, these things take time. It’ll come eventually. Take a vacation… that’s what I’m doing anyway lol.

dude just play and enjoy the game! no one even knows when the patch is coming you may be waiting a while.

As far as I know testing doesn’t continue on weekends, or if it does that’s included in the 2-week estimate that MS/Sony tell developers…but look, we’re waiting for news, the same as you guys.

Just assume it’ll arrive by like, September, and that way you’ll be happy when it gets here early! :^)

Spoiler

Secretly I’m annoyed by the delay as well, I mean, you all PLAYED the damn thing already…but it’s out of my hands. (-.-)

I would be amused if the patch is released prior to anyone being notified.

And I don’t have a problem with waiting. I’m fully aware of how MS operates and how much time these things potentially take. If it takes a month or two, so be it. It’s not like I don’t have a life to attend to. Regardless, the way I practice characters there’s essentially no point in my bothering to train right now. It’s entirely too much time and effort to have wasted/dulled by the magnitude of such a significant patch, hence, waiting is the logical decision.

The “just for fun” players should definitely carry on though, I agree.
