Umm, Actually, the prize is in Store Credit and depending on how many people actually enter we’ll be giving away the Tekken 6 Collector’s Edition. We’re not allowed to give away cash as a tournament prize because NC State Law considers that gambling. We did that with a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament and got fined for it. I also need to know how many people are picking up Tekken 6 at the tournament and for what system you want it so I know how many I need to get in the store.
EDIT: I would LOVE to host a SF3rd Strike tourney as it’s probably my favorite fighting game. Just no one around here shows interest in fighting games so unless I knew people would come, it wouldn’t be worth it for us.
I was at the store when this was discussed. this topic came up and from my understanding it was at the discretion of the store, It was agreed that we would do cash. Thats part of the reason why people are willing to come to a monday night tournament, well at least most of the people I have spoken with. If this has changed I wasnt informed. Please get back to me asap so we can get everything ironed out.
Who did you speak with at the store? Everyone should know that cash prizes in a tournament are NC State Illegal. If it was possible to give cash, trust me, I would because I know more people would be willing to drive out and participate. Unfortunately, as stated before, we were fined the last time we tried to do a cash tournament.
I spoke with the younger guy when he was on the phone with I think a manager from another store i understand what you are saying, just know that a good bit of people will cancel( i hope they dont)
What was the discretion of the store was what the prize amount/item would be. The issue of Cash Prize/No Cash Prize is non-negotiable. We’re strictly not allowed to do it. If I could do it, I’d love to because I know more people would be willing to show up. Unfortunately the law forbids it.
Sorry, the internet was messing up, and I didn’t realize my last message actually did go through. You spoke with Aaron, and he said that he apparently didn’t make himself completely clear (he’s not that bright anyway…) But unfortunately there’s nothing we can do about the cash situation. I mean, hopefully people still show up because I would love to start hosting monthlies at this store with a different game every month.
just check my work schedule and i close on Monday. So I won’t be able to go. If y’all host more tourneys in Charlotte. I’ll try to make it.
If I can get out of work by ~3pm on Monday, then I’ll come up there. 
We’ll see how things work out. I wish I had access to some of the informational resources I used to because I have a solid feeling that something may actually be off as far as the interpretation of law is concerned. Still, cash prize or not, we NEED to show up for the sake of trying to finally getting the Charlotte fighting game scene back on track.

Haha, I wouldn’t even consider going if BB was dropped for 3s.
By the way, how many people do you have registered for Blazblue?
If I come I’ll be playing both games, but I have 2 friends who want to come just for BB.

I’m just not sure about making an 8 hour round trip for an 8 person tournament.
