10/01/2017 Las Vegas Strip Shooting

More people being stupid over the internet.
And paying for it.

Firing into a crowd of 22000 compensates for that a bit.

The guy supposedly had multiple firing positions in his suite.

When you start to read about the victims, that’s when it really hits you…

maybe the final push of a motive was him losing all the cash at the casino and then a moment of mental illness of trying to realize what the hell happened ?!!??

This world is just starting to make me sick.

Guess this is that alt-lefter I’ve been hearing all about.

oh look every single gun law we have on the books turned out to be fucking useless and the AR which conservatives SCREAMED wasn’t an automatic was easily modified to be and killed 50 FUCKING PEOPLE.

stop manufacturing guns in this goddam country and melt the ones we have. you wouldn’t have to protect yourself from a criminal with a gun if it wasn’t so fucking easy getting one in the first place.

The shooters partner is an Australian woman originally from the Phillipines.

Saw on our news while getting coffee that he used her ID to get in the hotel.

Got evidence it was an AR modified to be full auto? I mean it can happen, like in San Bernardino, but please stick to confirmed information.

Kids are still running around with guns in places like Australia. Once guns exist, you can’t truly get rid of them.

Man, people really need to check what they say on social media. Her shit got caught on Facebook so I imagine it was private and someone aired her shit out. If that’s what happened, that’s an incredibly shitty friend.

If she kept her page public, well now she knows better.

of course you can’t get rid of them you can’t completely get rid of anything but you can reduce the numbers and probability. exactly like Austrailia did successfully.

I’m not a screaming redneck like Ted Nugent but it’s very, very unlikely this country will ever be gun free. There are way more guns than people in the US and it’s not feasible to do. Gun control is a complex problem, and simply shouting “abolish all guns!” doesn’t solve anything because it’ll probably never happen.

Problem with that logic is that we just started to bash, stab, bomb or run over each other instead.

Plus, our massacre laws include caveats about familicide (gotta have at least five unrelated victims), further raising the bar about what constitutes one.

Eh, this ain’t really the thread for this discussion, so I’ll leave it here. Good luck actually getting anyone to enforce confiscation, if it ever passes.

The “they will use other methods” argument is not a good argument against gun control. Never was.

there couldn’t be a more appropriate thread for this discussion but like every gun supporter you just run from the discussion or make excuses. its absolutely insane to compare the ease of lethality of a gun compared to all those options and you fucking know it.

all this is just an inconvenience to the right.

I’m all for some control. But it all comes down to what you care about most - do you care about cutting down lives lost, or do you just want guns off the streets? Because the two aren’t necessarily related.

With America’s saturated market of firearms, its not enough to call just for bans, there needs be some proposed method of enforcement, to which nobody really seems to put forward.

If you take a good look at my post history here, you would know that I dont tend to shy away from gun debates.

Time and place is all.

I used to think that. I genuinely did.

Then people in Europe just started using trucks. Or in China, getting a couple of buddies and some knives and carving people up.

Ease of lethality? Does that include access to the weapon, or just ease of operation?

Because I can just rent a three ton truck and drive down the main strip or into a crowded market. People don’t need guns, they just need a heap of sitting ducks.

Not really an inconvenience at all.

Calling it right now, dude blew his life savings in the casino and had a psychotic break. Profile makes it seem like he was a hardcore gambling addict.

Thoughts go out to the victims, man this shit was crazy bro. Had to check on my vegas fam, and I’m just glad they are safe.

(So nice to see this has become a “gun control” thread even though we all know fruitless that “discussion” tends to be, even when it’s civil on here, much less in public. Please drop it or take it to the actual current affairs thread(s) even if I understand why you all talking about it in here. Thank you.)

Since I didn’t see it mentioned in here yet given all talk about guns, which is noisome if understandable, at current last count, apparently 58 dead and at least 500 injured. Probably more than that, especially with regards to the injured. I would double check for sources on the latest numbers, but I must admit that I was instantly apathetic to actively keeping up this after immediately realizing nothing is going to change if nothing changed after the Sandy Hook massacre.

Sadly the most we can probably “hope” for that this the maximum amount of people who are dead and that there are a minimal amount of people among the injured who are permanently maimed.

Oh, @“chadouken!”, you could at least link that all-too-true “parody” article: http://www.theonion.com/article/no-way-to-prevent-this-says-only-nation-where-this-36131.

Additionally, here are two new ones that seem to have been written just today; they are also unfortunately both all too correct: “Americans Hopeful This Will Be Last Mass Shooting Before They Stop On Their Own For No Reason” and “This Shooting Isn’t About Gun Control We Refuse To Pass, It’s About Access To Mental Health Care We’re Continuing To Gut”.

Only “just starting” to? I must admit my genuine surprise here, @“Missing Person”.

Pretty much. A determined person will always find a way to kill, but maybe we should remove the easiest methods.
