So because there are unoriginal characters in MVC3 then we should have more? Which one of us isn’t following a consistent logic here?

Let’s start with the simple fact that Zero uses a sword, the Z-Saber. Swords are cooler than projectiles, this is scientifically proven by science. There is no range to take advantage of, no way to pussy out. He has to get in up close and personal, look into his opponent’s eyes, and fucking end them. Zero’s programming is godlike too. While a certain blue prick is content with taking weapons from destroyed enemies, Zero LITERALLY reads his opponents and assimilates their techniques. I like Zero over every cybernetic being except Optimus Prime.
Actually, Optimus and Zero have many things in common. Both sacrificed themselves for the greater good. And both have been resurrected. The difference is Zero has been resurrected a shit ton of more times. In every game Zero is in, he clears the path for X to save the world. By throwing himself in certain death and chipping away at powerful enemies, Zero does all the real work. THINK ABOUT IT, Zero self-destructs to remove Vile’s armor, Zero dies giving Sigma an anti-virus, Zero pilots a god damn ROCKET into a space station to save da earf. And he’s been resurrected from all of this. This guy even killed the reploid he loved because he had to.
Zero became such a badass he had to save the planet from himself. As it turned out, he was indirectly responsible for everything, having the maverick virus as part of his code. He was the one who infected the original Sigma. And this is where Zero makes the most selfless sacrifice of all, he seals himself away for a century in hopes of removing the virus from his programming. Would X have the balls to lock himself away, knowing everyone and everything he cares about will be gone when he wakes up? Fuck no. AND WHAT DID ZERO FIND WHEN HE WOKE UP? A copy of his best friend X, ruling Neo Arcadia as a twisted dictator. Imagine the mental toll it takes, this new X is the only thing connected to everything Zero knew and loved, and now he has to destroy it. But does Zero cry about it? Nah, he does the right thing. He picks up his Z-blade and kills another scumbag.
X wishes he had an ounce of Zero’s swag.[/details]
And now you know why Niitsuma-san actually made the better choice.
But the best choice would’ve been to put Proto Man in, or at least make Zero’s Alt Proto Man.
Im saying that X is pretty damned original compared to most of the 12 new characters that they put in. You seem to think that because X used Zero’s saber briefly and in an extremely limited fashion, justifies him being zero’s costume. Just because arthur has armor changes doesnt mean that it makes X unoriginal. Arthurs armor doesnt really change much about him. Some of X’s armors change up his playstyle by a great deal. You’re just as bad as people who say Hawkeye is a clone of taskmaster, geez.

X isnt in the game and thats fine if Capcom doesnt want to add him, and i agree that it doesnt actually fit his style, because X doesnt really punch or kick like that stupid MvC2 version… but saying its coz he doesnt have enough unique moves is stupid…
Lol, I don’t even care that MMX isn’t in the game but if you’re gonna tell MMX fans to accept their predicament, don’t be such an ignorant prick about it. You know what moveset Zero has without Maverick abilities?, his ground LMH, his jH, and his airdash.
You know what abilities MMX6 Megaman X shares with our rendition of Zero? Buster Shots, a ground dash, and st.H.
I think Capcom trolling X fans is pretty lulzy, but if you really think they should be content with what they have because you’ve somehow fabricated some notion that “they basically have the same moveset,” then you should get your head out of your ass.
As someone who never followed the X series, I honestly can’t unsee Zero as X in his DLC cause they always looked so similar. It’s like the same face on a different reploid model (or whatever you call those things).
I’m not one to worry about details, cause I’m pretty sure Joe without the Henshin costume is a completely different character then with the costume, and how is boxer arthur even an outfit?
By that logic, why is Doctor Doom in the game? He pretty much has no weaknesses as a comics character other than pride (He’s strong with his armor, fast, mystically powerful, armed to the teeth, encased in incredibly tough armor, and has a brain of immense tactical genius), yet he’s still fairly balanced.
Really, I have no idea why no version of Megaman wasn’t it, but I don’t particularly care because I’m not a Megaman fan.

X isn’t unique compared to the new characters. Every character can do something no one else can. Even Vergil, as terribly lacking in uniqueness as he is, has a level 4 making him somewhat distinct. The best X fans have come up with is gasp A TRACKING PROJECTILE. Oh my days, the originality!
No it is the EXACT SAME mechanic. You’re asking for a character who’s main gimmick is armour changes for new moves and properties to be added to a game with a character that already does the exact same thing. Yes, they could add another Wolverine clone or a shoto and make them play differently, but that wouldn’t stop them from being bland and unoriginal. Why struggle to differentiate X’s armour/projectiles from Arthur/Zero when you can just add someone that does something completely different? It’d be a hell of a lot more interesting than giving Ken’s tatsu a wall bounce and saying that makes him ‘unique’.
You could have anyone. You could have Gene the God Hand and give him roulette wheels and weave mechanics the likes of which have never been seen in the Marvel series. You could have Sigma and give him several transformations that completely changes his model and movements, give him a Sigma Virus level 3 that debuffs characters and whatnot. You could have Antman or Wasp and do clever things with drastically different sized characters. But no, the insatiably greedy Megaman fans would rather have a variation on themes thoroughly represented in MVC3 already. Only Megaman fans could request a tracking projectile, a high durability projectile and a move that brings Megaman closer to the other character and think that those ideas are exciting and original.
What’s that Fluga!? A projectile that BEATS OUT OTHER PROJECTILES!? You madman! And a projectile WITH THREE DIFFERENT ANGLES!? Someone get this man a job at Capcom! He has CRAZY new ideas that will change the way we think about fg’s!
Even the characters that you name aren’t really that original, sans maybe sigma if hes done right. Gene, as much as I want him in, isnt very original aside from his roulette wheel. But thats the thing, I’m ok with that. He still wont play very similarly to the other cast members. That’s why, at least for me, why X should be in the game. All those moves that he could use, sure here and there it’s gonna be something thats similar to someone else in the cast. Now that I realize it, the whole cast is kinda similar to each other in one way or another. Also Vergil having a level 4 is just an intermideary between a level 3 and a level 5, I dont see how thats really that special. Hell, they could even give X shit that he didnt even have in his own games. So much possibility with X, and even Classic Megaman.
Oh really? So there are characters can change forms and size and have invincible movement in MVC3? Show me them.
So you admit he has nothing he can do differently, but you want him anyway. That’s fine. If you like the character you like the character. I can’t argue that. I can argue he has nothing unique to offer though. Not one reason to put him in over RR, PW, IF, FW, SH, DS and friends who actually do things that have no existing equivalent.

I didnt say that he had nothing different, I’m saying that he, along with most other characters can’t be COMPLETELY different from everyone else. Sigma COULD be pretty original, but you know capcom and their huurduur no ram BS.

X’s main gimmick isn’t even armor changes, all he does is gain more power from said armor. Arthur has that option too, like you would see that. Go read the Wiki entries that people have posted. You’ll see how easy it is to make X way different from Zero and Arthur.
X’s main gimmick is his weaponry. What is Strider’s main gimmick? His Ninja moves and his…assorted weaponry. What is Zero’s gimmick? His assorted special moves. What is Tron’s main gimmick? A giant mech robot…with assorted weaponry. Sentinel does the same goddamn thing, only he is a giant. Same as Arthur. Talking about gimmicks is a slippery slope argument and only makes you look like you have NO idea about how the current gaming climate works.
The most hilarious thing of all? You still seem to think that Mega Man fans are greedy. Go think about what the FGC would do if Apology Edition never happened, and Yun/Yang/Fei-Long stayed the same. Go think about what might have happened if Marvel 3 was cancelled to give another series a shot in the spotlight. Mega Man fans have been getting virtually shafted by Capcom in terms of games, that is truly why they are upset. They see anything Mega Man related in Marvel 3, and assume its Capcom trolling despite their best efforts as reconciliation. The truth? Until a Mega Man IS in the game and not as a glorified DLC costume that SHOULD be unlockable, the FGC is going to have put up with said indirect bitching from Mega Man fans. Capcom seems to forget that Mega Man put them on the map period, and now Capcom expects people to be happy with cameos. People will NOT be and NEVER will be happy with Cameos. They want an actual Mega Man. Capcom should have seen this backlash coming. Instead, it now has this “Mega Man thing” that isn’t going away until Legends 3 is back on AND a Mega Man is in UMvC3.
LOL this is incredibly dumb. And for everyone thinking it’s a fan service your wrong. Its like releasing SSB with Luigi and Peach and no Mario. You want to play as the character not someone dressed up as someone. He is the face of capcom… it just doesn’t make sense, and appears to be some decision based on stubbornness.

Which does not make any sense in context. The fact that the original Megaman was playable in the first two games does not help.
I was hoping for a Megaman Zero DLC instead of just a re-skin.
