Juri 7 Gief 3 imo.
mmm yeh juri is a pretty bad matchup for gief, she can play runaway keepaway style like akuma. too bad there arent too many high level juri players out there. All i know is dont jump after her, or she’ll do that dive kick move. you just gotta play real patient and do ex-gh when she starts doing the fireball leg thing. It’s scary to cross her up, cuz she has that ex- pinwheel thing… . yeh im pretty much befuddled in this matchup.
Juri is very misunderstood by most people. Give it some time, you’ll see someone use her well and people will flock to her like the gamerbee adon influx when you see someone step up. Having said that, I think Juri is a 6/4 against Gief. Reason being, Juri can zone Gief out much the same as Chun can. As Gief, you can’t jump, or you’re hosed much the same as Chun. To get close, you HAVE to know your spacing on the EX GH, and throw that out on reaction to the up kick part of her FB. From about a half-screen distance, you can df+hk under both the mk and hk projectile toss. Careful about your random lariats, b/c pinwheel or dive kick thing will tag you. You can crossup knees to stop ex pinwheel, but the timing is weird. I can’t do it consistently. It’s kind of like the weird timing to stop Chun EX sbk on-wake. If you time it right, it works, but most of the time you get hosed. I think you can throw Juri out of pinwheel, ex or otherwise. It’s just the the timing is difficult. I need to hit up training mode to see if EX SPD will beat that consistently.

it requires timing supposedly so not very easy o.s. but forces ultimate 2 choice game.

Zangiefs what are my options when I get Guile down on a corner? I like to head butt but Guile will always flash kick my ass, sometimes I cross up but I lose the corner advantage what do you guys do?

even if the blanka is a total noob there is a high chance to lose
u cant jump - u cant move forward if there is lag - cant spd in wakeup coz they always do something - aa lariat is so f… difficult
and they are the 70% of the psn
bad mu like akuma seth sim juri guile is free when the opponent is noob but not this one …
i spend so many hours in this game and its ridiculous t lose with blanka ball spam and electricity spam
Patience. Use all of the clock if you need to, there is no rush. Creep forward.
Terrible Blankas will always electricity on wake up. Just safe jump knees them and you will win every time. You can even just wake up throw them and it will beat electricity. The smarter ones will ex up ball. If they start doing that, just bait it and punish with exgh.
Hey Gief players, I was wondering if I could find a good Zangief to train with via PSN (XBL is an option as well, though I won’t be able to play as much as I only ever get a chance to play on XBL at my friends house). I’m ass at this matchup. Gief is one of my demons, frankly. During each of the past 3 tournaments I’ve attended over the last 2 months, I’ve lost to one Gief player or another. Badly. I’ve read everything I can on how to play the match effectively, watched loads of videos, and I still get raped when the time comes to actually play. My main is Vega, yet I’ve been tinkering around with Sagat a lot lately and I’ve found that I really like him (however,I’m still no where near competitive with him yet). Anyway, my point is, I’m looking for a good Zangief player to play with on a relatively consistent basis so that I can better learn the matchup.
I apologize in advance if this is the wrong thread to post something like this in, but I figured it’d be better to ask in here than go and make an entire thread just for this.
All this Zangiefs know what they are talking about good advice, my friend mains Blanka so I have exprience in that match up: the key thing to know is what will Blanka do on wake up, as mentioned before SPD wins electricity and a Blocked up ball o ex up ball can be punish with EX green hand try testing the reaction with a good old head butt if that connects it will confuse the Blanka user and it will block the move if perform again, I like to quick Lariat Blankas ball, if you succesfully punish enough balls then it wont repeat the move it might try a River Run so you can Focus attack… The best advice was told already, be patient the fisrt one to crack loses.
Careful, If you block an up ball crouching, exgh will whiff.

The better the blanka player is, the easier the matchup is =) haha, as goes for most of Zangiefs matchups, people who play chars that can abuse gimmicks on a high level, rarely do. Not necce because they will be punised, but because it aint their style. Im talking dawgtanian’s ELF. and That guygirl’s Vega, whats he called?
I had two blankas in my group at DHW, and was surprised to how free that matchup is offline. Just predicting randomness and putting U2 to good use. Walk him to the corner, once there you shouldnt be worried about beeing hit, anyone hit, leads to a heavier punish.

I have a question about Akuma’s small neat setup - after an untechbale knockdown a demon flip in to a grab with SRK as OS. Should i just eat that one hit from OS fierce SRK and move on or is there another way out?
I would rather Back dash wait for shoryken to land then grab 
This OS will hit Giefs bad backdash as well. One hit - same as with a jump.
Or do you mean i can quickraise in time before he lands from fierce SRK? Interesting.
SacredCowboy, you can jump forward and you should be able to get out. Or Siberian Blizzard if you can.
