So, it’s a wrap for Zangief. I’m getting bodied by level 7 Guiles. I think I want to quit this game. Zangief is the reason I play. I know I’m just frustrated.
On the Zangief discord i saw people saying that the Guile matchup is easier than Nash but i doubt it, tomorrow i will have a chance to play and im expecting a bunch of Guiles.
Snake eyez uploaded this video lol
nice, im done with gief
Combofiend must be ecstatic that Gief is so trash in this game. Why even put him in if they’re gonna make him this bad? I’m already predicting that Juri and Ibuki will be nightmare mu’s as well.
somebody please check out my fights tell me how i can improve my game CFN ID: andoru87
lol I may switch my main from gief to guile
Guile is much more powerful than SFIV:
Much better footsies, better flash kick, better damage, better defense,
less charging time. more big damage and consistent combos, strong sweep, extremely strong VSkill
ANYTHING is better than SFIV. Guile is BROKEN even against some other character (not gief, gief stands zero chance to win Guile, no need to mention)
When I was playing Gief
I need to spend 150% of my concentration to win every match
However, I played Guile for entire day.
I just need to spam shits from guile and than anti-air, sometime to make easy and big damage combo to win most patch
It is ridiculous unfair, buddies. :o
I can 200% sure, Guile will be the most tight match against Gief
Even more worse than Chun, Dhalism & Nash :s
Gief vs Guile is a 0:10 matchup (even more worse than SFII)
Guile may be the best character in the current meta now
See you in a year.
Maybe they’ll keep Combofiend away from grapplers during the re-balance.
Playing gief has left me uninterested in this game sadly, nothing wrong with the game itself, I’m just not having fun with gief. Thankfully kof will be out this year.
I feel completely helpless against a defensive Guile. I can bait out his sonic boom, slowly walk him back into the corner, but when he’s just crouching in the corner out of my spd reach I feel like screaming. It’s absolute madness that he can just crouch down, and suddenly all of my options are gone and I have to wait for him to make a move. Day One Guiles have absolutely destroyed my Zangief confidence.
Its nice having a secondary sim. Yoga wreaks american military training lol. P.S. I feel like I hit a wall. Anyone care to to play my zangief and sim on ps4? My sfv name is vSapient
i played a couple of Guiles today, matchup doesn’t seem to bad so far. They were high rank player too like Ultra Gold & Platinum. I was expecting worse matchup like Akuma in HDR. I’ll see in a week though, but not dropping gief.
Yeah, Guile feels like the old match-up with a better projectile (v-skill) but worse recovery. He spends most of his time poking at mid-range or giving up space to throw Sonic Booms, which can be handled pretty easily with Headbutt if he’s not following a slow one. Once he hits the corner, he has a real problem keeping you out and must go through you to escape.
Definitely feels better than Nash, Chun or Sim. The mobility of those characters is one of the factors that make the match-ups hell IMO.
Here are some things to research that we need to know. We have to figure out what specials/command normals are considered projectiles. Lariat will blow these up, like Necalli stomp.
At higher levels, everyone is going to the air to avoid spds on resets and on v trigger stuff. Thank you capcom for the air SPD. We need a frame genius to figure out our advantage or disadvantage with the move if we whiff or where we stand when it does get a throw. What is the risk reward for a guess at air SPD? I would bet it is greater than guessing at ground SPD.
To deal with people jumping, you can do two things.
- Tick into headbutt for the knock down. It’s the equivalent of landing a lariat.
- Wait and confirm the neutral jump, then air spd. Especially good with ex, which will still land after 2-3 ticks.
You don’t need to gamble with air spd. Also, frame advantage is in the wiki; ex spd gives you the same as ex ground spd while the others give you around RBG advantage.
Ok played my first offline Sfv tournament today. Beat a decent Nash barely, beat a good nacalli player, beat a guile, lost to a bison twice.
Guile is not that bad. Absorb fireballs or headbutt move him to the corner and he has no way out. Also st hk on reaction in range stuffs sonic boom. Also his backfist is a high so free spd if you crouch. Much easier than Nash.
I lost in losers finals the worst way. Had a good read in the last game and hit the guy with cc hp and canceled into vtrigger. The suction was to far and jumped in and Comboed for the round win. Next round I was in the corner vreversal on a sissor kick canceled into ca. But it wiffed.
Shitty way to lose but I am happy with third in a local with Gief.
Good for you filldoh glad to hear it. Congrats and let’s all keep working to improve.
Mesenkomaha ei man you got a chance look at my matches?
It makes me so sad seeing Snake play Alex. It’s really come to this now lol so sad. So not a single Gief doing well at Northwest Majors and the best Gief in the US dropping him for another grappler that’s not even very strong yet way better.
I think it is extremely hard to headbutt guiles sonic boom
Heavy version is always too fast to headbutt by reaction
And then guile can mixing medium, light, Vskill version to fake your headbutt in wrong timing/situation
I really have a worse day when fighting guile over nash
