having a hard time in gold with gief he doesnt have enough tools to work with only instant that we have is the super thats it and im pretty sure every one ios having a hard time with zoners
Andoru upload some of your replays so we can watch your play. I am finding that opponents in the 4000-6000 range are actually easier and more fun to play against than bronze and silver players.
I donāt know how most of you guys play or the studying you do outside of the game so comparisons between experience is tough. Iām starting to get very comfortable with the game and seeing the opponentās moves as frame data now. Punishing becomes much easier and frame traps arenāt so scary. I donāt know how much this all changes at the 7000+ LP ranks or at tournament levels though. What is holding me back right now is certain bad matchups that I need more practice with, specifically Birdie and Nash.
try to look for my replays on CFN andoru87 dont really have time uploading them when im online since im always playing when im at home no time to upload unless i do it in my sleep but hopefully it succeeds uploading will try to post them here but for the meantime check my replays iāll add my matches on my replay list
one big factor thats holding me back is not having an arcade stick i miss like 1 out of 5 spd as punish also cant do a proper spd while walking without the risk of jumping then raging at wall beside me out of frustration hehehe
It was cool to finally meet chief in person. We both put in work at Texas showdown. Iād say we surprised people since if snake isnāt at an event noone usually expects a Gief to do much
I hope some comrade here can search for my video though my game ID: **Geminiwai
**
To give me some opinion with my Gief,
Please kindly provide me some suggestion how I can get better, thanks dude!
Either Capcom completely fucked up the risk/reward ratio of grapplers, or
no one is playing Big Z ācorrectlyā at high level. And that means, obeying the speed limits, stop signs and red traffic lights.
At first, we didnāt know whether he would return in V. And then, weāre presented with this āweakenedā Red **Dead **Cyclone, a sad pillar of what he once was.
Congratulations to everyone whoās still playing such
Gief. RESPECT.
I feel Alex Valle didnāt play the match-up against Snake Eyez properly, and now Snake Eyez isnāt playing the match up properly against Bon Chan. Your thoughts?
The problem is not that gief lacks tools, it is that he is not complete.
When you play a matchup like Gief vs Sim you immediately think Sims standing Jab, Teleport, ect are too good. then when you pick Sim and you play a more complete character like Ryu you see sims holes.
Even a character that shits on us like Nash has some big holes in his game to balance him out. The game is very balanced just gief is bad. No other character has BAD 7-3s like him but this is what we are going to have to deal with. I am not concerned with matchups like Birdie(6-4) as i feel like the advantage is slight and a competent player can still win against a like skill player.
Until buffs are made the only advise that make sense is to have a good secondary in the Chun, Nash, and Sim matchups. As much as it pains me to say it these matchups are way too uphill to even try when you get to high level. Every other matchup in the game i feel is winnable(even the 6-4s) and i will keep playing gief.
What happens when you spend enough time with a secondary (without the insane frustration)? I have a feeling if most gief players have āsecondaries,ā theyāll get promoted to being your mains very, very quickly.
If its flat out required to have a secondary vs. 1/4 of the roster, the character is inherently flawed and should not be played for competitive purposes.
Again, if your secondary can handle your bad matchups and more, any time you spend with gief is time taken away from a viable character. Worse yet, time spent with a secondary is time spent away from gief, who, as we all know, requires you to be on your āAā game at all times.
Capcom never able to design a good grabber
In SFIV, Thawk, Hakan, Hugo and suck characters, Gief may be the best grabber in SFIV, but still so much terrible/impossible matchup
In SFV, the situation is ever worse than SFIV, Mika, Alex, Gief, Laura are the worst 4 characters, the 5th is F.A.N.G
It is a joke that all grab based characters are now the worst.
On the other side, i think Snakeās is really in a terrible condition/status yesterday.
Let us take a look again on the Bonchan fight:
WTF, a RBG in the beginning, it MUST be a execution error.
In 2:30, Snake didnāt kill bonchan even he successfully land a VT on Ryuās fireball, this is also a huge and unacceptable mistake;
which such mistake even should not exist in normal level gameplays!!
At 3:03, Snake throw out his VT without reason.
Finally he really looks like giving up the game.
A execution error on match beginning (RBG) is so rarely to be seen, which means snake is really not in good condition that day.
Snakeās face looks really bad and seems sick :o
I hope he can take a rest and contribute in the incoming days.
Alex Valle is OK, he didnāt make any big mistake, he was beaten by Snake technically.
Evan, If you have time, please also check my game history and give some suggestion to my gief.
I think you can really help me a lot as you always a pro and detail minded player.
