Zangief cvs2 Thread!(grief player's only)

I always use the RC 360 +k!! Its too good. Works well as an anti-air every once and a while!

Maybe I was high the day I said this. :looney:

I only played Zangief seriously in C groove/N groove. K grief is probally one of his best grooves by far.

I cant stop playing Zangief… Now matter how may time’s I get punched in the face by Sagat.

It think its really important not to wiff anything(except c.jabs) with Zangief. I noticed I’ve been doing alot better since if stopped wiffing/laggy moves.

I dont know if this is an accurate statement, but it seem like U have to have really good footsies to play Zangief.

I actually stop RCing(at least for now) and been relying on My groove’s ability, and grief’s normals. Grief Is not a “poker” character like rolento,or vega, but Zangief seem’s to be a counter poker/ defensive character.

Zangief can get Counter hit/trade with his Pokes, but dosent really have abusable poke’s(like vegas c.mk/Sagat c.fp).

He just one of my best character so I am sticking to him.

Just make sure you dont wiff shit. Know what normals beat/trade,and If you use c.fp/s.fp make sure it’s either hit’s,or is blocked.

I think the main goal with grief is to Keep other character(Camy Blanka Sagat) form raping you. By not letting them get in on you, and using Grief’s poke to keep them out.

I dont want to write 2 pages in one sitting so Ill post some more stuff later.

One thing that has help me fight Sagat/Cammy is to use Zangief Walk/Jiggle.

He has a really good waliking animation.

Jiggle back and forth/ side to side, like Starhammer’s Avatar. (The chick on the right is awesome) :wgrin:

Zangief’s Jiggle is really good.

It’s like doing standing Jabs with shoto’s, but with out the wiff factor.

I found Grief’s “Jiggle” is very useful in zonig, and it helps to mask Grief pokes.

What do u Zangief user’s think?

Please dont say shit like…
“Why dont u just play Blanka”. :lame: Trust me… Ive been down that road before.

using just a lvl 4 gief is the funniest shit ever because his suplex just annihalates everythign

A dumb question:
How do u RC a lariat?

I can understand how to RC a charge move, or even qcf moves, but I don’t really understand how u RC into lariat…

Is it something like lp+lk=>quickly into kkk? Cause I find it hard to hit all those buttons with only one hand, and I use thumb and index fingers to roll, so am I suppose to use my other fingers to press the mk and hk after that?

Lariats require only two buttons, so it’s actually very easy to RC them.

yamazaki, dhalsim, haomaru, vega, and sagat seem to be Gief’s worst matchups in my opinion…

abuse small jumps into 360…that just may be like his BEST tactic…the frame advantage of his 360 is AMAZING!

I like Gief on K or N groove because they give him good strength increases…N is good cuz of roll…but K is awesome if you can master the JD into 360

Hey, I am picking up P and K Groove Zangief, and he is just too good?
People are like wtf?!!

I have a few questions though…

What is the difference between his two lariats, the PPP and the KKK one?

I’ve also noticed his short jump + H.Kick into PD is damn good…that frame advantage!..
Anyways, is there any ok combos with him?
Please let me know, I’d really appreciate it…

No one’s mentioned Gief’s BnB, but it’s jumping fierce/splash, d/b forward, fierce GH. If the jump-in hits deep, you can Jab SPD afterwards. This does a TON of dizzy.

i think N groove Zangief is the most dangerous because he can run and roll its fucken nuts trust me. as zangief player N groove is bad ass. and he has a killer mix up game and killer damage. next i would choose C groove for the rolling and air guard, then S groove because of the dodge and grab tactics.
