Thats vance’s BnB. right after he links the cr.lk to cr.lp. smh at godly execution
I know; watching vids of his combo got me to start playing around with it. It feels pretty pimp when it lands though.
It looks like I haven’t had much time to play, but I will leave you guys with this. If Honda, Blanka, or Sagat are crouching, and you’re at CR.LK3 range, ST.MP2 ST.LK EX.GH works. For Abel crouching, at CR.LK4 range, you can use CR.LK2 ST.MP2 ST.LK EX.GH. For Hakan at CR.LK4 range, I believe you can do CR.LK ST.MP2 ST.LK EX.GH. There are probably more characters you can use ST.MP2 combos for, but I haven’t had the time to finish my spreadsheets yet. My advice: Don’t give up on his stronger combos just because they are 1F or 2F links. Best of luck.
One more thing. Don’t give up on Walk 720 either. That too, pays off well once you’ve got it down. Even though I am three weeks out of practice, I still retained the muscle memory to do it on the fly. In case you don’t already know, the ideal input for it is 74123[6]32147+PPP. My advice: (1) Don’t ride the gate unless you feel that it’s necessary. (2) For timing purposes, don’t start the joystick input until your attack is in its recovery frames. (3) Learn how to stop your Walk 720 input in case your opponent jumps away. (4) A few things that I have yet to put to proper use are Walk Back 720 (in case they are mashing during your blockstring), and Walk 720 to hit your opponent’s landing frames. Best of luck.
i don’t know if somebody yet writed it but
Focus Attack (lv3) -> Ultra 2 (full) = 486 damage
But i find it really difficult, and i don’t know if work on all characters
Vangief does his Walking 720 … in a kinda cheating way with PS3 pad
he moves forward with the D-pad and buffers 720 with the analog (while moving forward on Dpad it prevents you from jumping while your spining the analog)…and then just taps 3P buttons on the L or R button, so before you give him so much praise… think about that for a second, easiest shit ever
I thought he buffered the move via a jab or any normal?
thought again
Did he tell you he did that?
Even if he did use this method for Walk 720, does it even matter? He also does short combos on pad ? without plinking, obviously ? easiest shit ever.
HUH? Wasn’t this taken out and only worked in HDR?
Anyway, Vance buffers the walking 720 in a normal bub.
Trini’s right, he doesn’t do that D-pad/stick trick and it doesn’t even really work. IIRC someone originally stated this as a joke and some people actually believed it and it spread like wildfire.
I think it’s plain to see from match videos that he’s doing the standard “first 360 ending in forward and holding forward for a very slight while then a reverse 360 then PPP” method. There’s tutorials around here on how to do it. Hell, I can do it myself in training, but I never even try it in a real match.
It dosent matter… if its in the game use it i say, and I main Gief obviously… and Weirdly i have better success doing short combos on pad than stick… but im used to stick so i never use the pads,
you can make a faster 360 with your thumb than your wrist =)
fierce splash -> close standing mp -> ex.gh
anyone use this a lot?
how safe is it? I use it from time to time but would like a better option if there is one.
I mainly use it because my execution seems decent for this particular combo and don’t have to think much when I wanna pull it off.
only if you know your splash is going to hit
yes , you can hit confirm that if your reaction is good and hit mp after seeing splash hit.
otherwise, if they block splash , they gonna block the whole shit, and huge punish awaits you.
anyone have an idea of who you can do link combos into lariat on?
I know they work on Blanka standing.
Crossup splash, cr.lp, cl.mp xx kick lariat is 269/350
Crossup splash, cr.lk, cr.lk xx kick lariat is 249/310 and you can substitute the first cr.lk for 20 less damage and a way easier link.
crossup splash, cl.lp, cr.lp(chain), kick lariat(link) is possible as well. does 233/310 I think. Can sub out the cr.lp for cr.lk for more damage, but the link into lariat is harder then.
you can do some combos into PPP lariat against hawk, but you can’t cross him up to start them generally.
Messing around in training mode and I found some miniscule things on optimal splash > Lariat combos. For example: Crossup splash > Cl. St. MK xx Lariat doesn’t work on a standing Hakan but the same thing works with Cl. St. MP. I’ll test some more just for data.
If you aren’t already using this you should, it’s 50 more damage (compared to cr. lk) on full health characters.
wow why would you want to do a lariat combo?
Edit:
A lot of the combos are very character specific AND spaced specific to be worth it imo. For some characters you get a knockdown mix up like the ex from super but it’s almost impossible to hit confirm it! I have you on my friends list on xbox… OSAMERU LOL. I played blanka and you scrapped the fuck out of me in the mirror match.
To get a knockdown and keep pressure up? To save meter? To do more damage?
And yes they are character specific, but that doesn’t make them bad.
And yes I remember playing you in the mirror before, I scrape a lot of people.
- you can’t safe jump from it.
- The characters that it does work on is very specific and unless space perfectly can cause you whiff or make lariat on block forcing you to lose pressure and get punished hard
- Spacing… with the characters that it works on you aren’t pushing your characters to the corner or gaining any space at all.
- You have better combos to rely on and command throws.
- Zangiefs meter on hit is used to push characters to the corner and force mix ups alone… so in a since you gain meter from that.
6.Zangief isn’t a mix up character anymore… he’s based off of footsies and laming people out. There’s very few matches were Gief is mixing the characters up.
Edit:
Not only is it character specific but it’s spaced dependent… meaning, that on Ryu for example you can’t do a specific lariat combo if you cross up, or if they’re crouching when you hit them . Physically you don’t have enough time to adjust to the type of combo you have to do. So you have to blindly commit to it. The dmg is good, yes so what! You can better dmg from mp ex hand combos or cr.lkx2 f.st.mp f.st.lk ex hand and depending on the character you land it on… you can get mix ups off the combos alone or you can end it early, let’s say at f.st.mp and combo grab without wasting meter.
