The Yun guide by dafeetlee(it’s stickied) has the info you are looking for. And yes, certain characters fall differently or have different hurtboxes as they get up making various safe jumps work differently (e.g. Fwd throw, f.j x2 dk doesn’t cross up against balrog).

It’s probably been said somewhere in that thread but you can also do command grab, cr.mp st.lk xx light upkicks on guile/balrog (probably others as well) into Light Lunge or U1.

also works on rufus, hawk and claw, just tested with all chars…

I just tried it but the timing is wired against Hawk. At times the lk dp gets blocked.

Whats the input for kara ex command grab?

I believe it would be the input for the ex grab and then to forward before you press your buttons. I haven’t tried it yet, just started using yun.

The input for Ex Command grab is 32146+MK & HK. You skip the first forward input, at least that’s how Xian was doing it in the tutorial.

Just got into AE and choosing Yun as my character of choice.

Anyway, I’m getting his BnBs down (minus Genei Jin combos), but what should be my next plan of action to learning the character?

Divekick spacing and usage. How to use them in neutral game to get in, how to use them to pressure opponents on wake up. You always want to be at frame advantage with them (meaning in general, every dive kick you hit should be hitting below the opponents waist). When I learned how to use them, I watched a few 3s Yun videos to see how those players used them, don’t have to do that, but its an idea.

are there any on block genei jin overhead mix ups similar to juri’s fse ultra? respectively can a successfull overhead mk, during genei jin, combo/chain in somthing else to launch the opp, e.g cr.mk x mp shoulder?

i search for a way to bypass heavy turtling when having full super, but i am currently away from home/console.

Yun can only cancel regular normals in GJ and not command normals such as f+mk and f+hp. Unless you do a launch + jump cancel reset I don’t think it’s possible to get enough hit stun from Yun’s overhead. GJ is decent on block if your opponent doesn’t mash. After an activation on block you can do st.lk xx st.hk fwd. dash cancel, tenshin. Add another st.lk and you got a confirmable true block string.

If I want to start a combo off of a light attack, I always default to cr. LK (off a dive kick, after dashing in, etc).

Is this bad? I’m still getting comfortable with the character and cr. LK is what I like/am comfortable with.

Should I use the other light attacks (outside of combos; ex. cr. LK, cr. LK, st. LP, st. MPxxSpecial)? When is the best time for those situations?

I wouldn’t sweat it too much. His cr. lk is pretty important from the standpoint that if you have the momentum/knockdown, it adds another wrinkle to a pretty solid mixup game.

He’s one of the characters gets a lot from empty jump/walk or dash up situations since. people have to guess low/throw a lot with him.

On blocking pressure situations I’d stick to lp’s as they are faster I believe.

The only time it makes a huge difference IMO is after a divekick, especialy a cross up divekick.
Since cr. lp is 1 frame faster than cr. lk, it is easier to link after dives.
Cross up divekicks are pretty tight to link after
Cr. lk is better in a lot of situations though since it prevents jumping out and stand teching

Concerning anti-airs, how does Light Upkicks compare to St. MK? How do those two compare to St. MP?

light upkicks is better than both as anti air
it hardly trades with anything and loses only to akuma’s and seths dive kick if im not wrong

Piggybacking on this, if you get a good height on an anti air lk dp, you do an EX shoulder(as long as it kills) or pop Genei to juggle.

Hitting Genei from an anti air is a godsend in some matchups. Also if you’re near the corner and have ultra stocked, feel free to use EX dp and juggle U1.

On more floaty jumps, you can also U1 for good damage.
