I misspoke. I will edit soon. I was talking about making sure unwanted moves didn’t come out.
I’m coming from a charge character and my friend noticed that i try to do the BnB cr. lp x2 -> st. lp -> st. mp -> HK. dp and the command grab will come out. He told me that if I held forward down that it would be easier in the sense that the command grab wouldn’t come out. I noticed from the sf4 vids online with the input shown, Daigo holds down back but I was merely curious of the mass majority and what they deem comfortable/necessary.
Okay. I’ve only used Yun about 1 month, but I’ve grasped his fundamentals for the most part. I know mixups, his general bnb’s, how to properly punish the majority of moves, how to be aggressive and safe, etc. I can execute just about anything for Yun, however…how can I start improving my adaption skills (Just like how Daigo spends his first round learning how his opponent plays, and completely counters most of his opponents in future rounds) and learn advance tactics for Yun? (Tactics is rather vague…but I would just refer to it as factors which can really control the game and dominate it).
That isn’t a skill that someone here can just tell you. Just try moves and see how your opponent reacts during certain situations. That is how you learn your opponent and their tendencies. The only way to improve your adapting skills is just being more aware of your opponent, match ups, your tools, and theirs.
I am probably a decent player, unless I face off against people (like one of my friend’s who has gone to tournaments). He literally destroys me with a 60+ win streak. Whenever I do delay crouching tech, he seems to be able to frame trap me. Otherwise, he is typically successful with grabs and other mixups. I feel as though he’s much better than me despite the fact that during those 60 games, I took many matches but no rounds. I’ve tried adapting, but it just seems to be a rock ahead. I don’t think I know how to properly counter many opponent tendencies >_<.
Simple question about Yun Ultra 1. When I recorded Yun ultra 1 , I can focus crumple his fourth hit after blocking the first 3. I have tried it couple of time
in matchs but the fourth hit broke my saving. Same thing vs Makoto. Somebody can explain my why its only working in training mode. Thx !
He uses Yang and Barlog. His Barlog is especially good at rushing me down. What he does is poke me with lights and shorts. Sometimes they are normal block strings, sometimes they are frame traps. Once in a while, he just goes for a grab and I simply can’t react/am not hitting os grab tech because I fear his frame traps. It feels like he reads me like a book 90% of the time. Sometimes he can even rush me down as a barlog. If I do something crazy like mash dp out of his strings, then he can simply continue then and start laying delays so that he can punish me right after.
Doesn’t mashing standing tech make you extremely vulnerable to frame traps? He can OS sweep if I mash backdash on his jabs. If I try to play him, it feels like he just outpokes me with barlog’s godlike pokes despite the fact that I’m playing yun.
Stand tech beats a lot of frame traps unless they are tight. He won’t be option selecting anything if he’s brainlessly spamming cr.LP , walk up , cr.LP on you, which most Boxers do.
Alright. Thanks : p
What should I do about against yang? The same thing that can be applied with barlog? Oh, and how should I constantly apply pressure against him when playing footies when his jabs beat out mine for the most part? Should I continue using 3 frame jabs/shorts, and some smp shoulder for some pressure? Sorry for all these questions.
its pretty slow and somewhat flexible. You just have to find your own timing. I tend to do this OS like you would do a shoto low mk into fireball. Down+jab rolling to forward+jab if that make any sense.
Hey guys, what advice do you guys have for a brand new Yun player? Actually I’m new to SF4 in general. I’m coming from BlazBlue and I’m honestly having the hardest time transitioning. My timing on combos are off, like I think I’m doing them too fast. In addition to that, I’m coming from a zoning character in BlazBlue so I’m having a hard time moving in on my opponent and finding the right time to pull off some hits. Any advice would be great, thanks!
Guys need help here against a good Yang. he neutral jumps a lot which eiher get me into his face or I get his crossup, either way I get to be punished. I am week on Upkicks because of the xbox controller (can’t react that fast). Plus Yang’s uppercut is very good, catches backdashes, focus, jumps, everything.
