Yun basics

In casuals I would say the chances of someone trying this are much higher then in a tourney. Ditto if the peron who you are fighting is ken.

I find the answer somewhat split – some yun players will always go for it, some will block for half a second to see what happens (at least the first time.)

I usually go for the bait and if they dont throw out something laggy I can punish I work my way in with c.Short strings or go for a really fast command throw.

If you are afraid that they will reversal SRK or some super with bad invincibility, walk back a step and palm. Works very nice. Easily combo after palm and excellent damage. :bgrin:

If your a noob with him, start off with his I super art. Thats what i did when i first started playing. After i got the basics down, i practiced with genei jin. Once you start that, try to make up your own air combos or different ways to launch people, that was the hardest part for me when i learned to u se genei jin. once you can get them to work on people. try some of the other combos.

BTW I have played before on a friends account on XBL I believe, hes now top 15 and is usually top 3 for the week every week ! Maybe I run into you again…

i can’t hold on to footage for long periods of time the only way i could make a yun video is if it took a weekend to make the same as my uoh vids and i wouldn’t know what to put in there anyway

You could have stuff of what not to do or vice versa against other people.

can you link off the dive? i’ve been trying to do dive lp, lk, mp xx gj, lp mp, f+hp gj combo but that doesnt work

also, what is yuns 2 hit combo in the air? its like mp, hp or something, i can never get it to work. and iirc yun has a combo which is like cr.some kick, hk any idea wth im talking about?

Linking target combo off a dive is pretty hard. the spacing has to be damn near perfect and if they move even slightly it can mess you up. Usually you’re better off with dive -> s.Short xx Dash punch then activate on their wakeup or whiff Short dive to throw off their parry timing -> Jab short strong xx GJ.

Yun’s air target chain is Jab, f+Fierce. One of the best combos with this is air target chain -> c.Strong -> s.Short xx Dash punch. You can omit the short link (which is pretty hard) for slightly less damage, and it’s still one of his most damaging non Genei Jin BNBs.

Yun’s ground target chain with rh is d+RH, standing RH. Don’t use this too often, its not great except something to throw out randomly once every few matches.

Also it’s Jab short strong XX GJ -> Strong -> f+Fierce as the corner starter. Not sure where you saw jab after activation but I’ve never really seen that used.

do you know if strong links into dp mp/hp in GJ? im pretty sure i’ve seen activate, f+lp, strong, dp. mp till corner then juggle.

also, for a shoto ender do you need to kara the dash punch??

yes, mp into mp shoulder works and no the dash punch ender does not need to be kara’d, although I recommend getting into the habit of doing it anyways :smile:

What you’ve probably seen is strong -> fierce xx shoulder which some people do cause it helps them buffer the dp. I use c.Forward -> s.Fierce xx shoulder or s.Strong xx shoulder as the shoulders starter depending on distance/character. His far standing Jab is pretty horrible, especially on short characters who can duck it, I usually only get it if im trying to jab short strong but im a bit too far away for the target combo to come out.

And yeah what Trippy said. You almost always can tag a shoto with the default ender, though sometimes you get pushed out a bit depending on how your jab shoulder comes out and you may need the kara for it to land. His Karas are worth spending at least some time practicing, they are applicable to a few strategies Yun uses, especially in GJ mode. Kara command throw is pretty beast, Kara palms can up your GJ damage if youre willing to learn them, and Kara dash punch makes your enders more consistent (or in some cases are the only way TO complete the ender.)

That being said I’d concentrate on just being consistent with GJ itself first.
