Marvel/BB: I either backdash or jump forward, depending on who I’m against. Especially in BB, since usually I’m up against rushdown characters who don’t give no shit about Nu.
AE: I wait for them to do something, then make my move.

tekken
depending on who i play jabs are 10 frames the fastest move in the game (other then yoshimitsus flash) you start in each others face
first round i will back dash 1 step…this is not to relinquish positioning but for them to respect the details of possibly being baited/whiff punished this avoids most high class launchers and avoid garbage like hopkicks.
also this is the first move so it establishes tempo leading into the very next sequence. whether that be closing in (from ether party) or movement to keep more space.
i will sometimes do a quick single check jab also to beat out the startup of such nonsense as well they block then im +1 and since i play devil jin most of the time those jabs can be confirmed into string that knocksdown for oki.
but mostly its a quick backstep.
chaos code with hermes its more of the same and its advertised a few more seconds in that im going to play lame/scummy so ill double jump back or step back and let you figure it out from there when we start going.
I know I feel particularly satisfied if I could do a “rush in” special move (Terry’s Burn Knuckle, Joe’s Slash Kick). It sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t.
I just taunt
Yes actually ^^; I am new to the game. Thanks though for not saying something like “wow u scrub ur such a scrub”
Try and get the opening for a set-up into glasses off for Wesker, or try for the start of round air-grab (if I’m feeling ballsy).
I’m usually on the defensive in the first round. It lets me study how they play. I’ll poke with my good, far reaching normals until I hitconfirm into a special. Once that knockdown is guaranteed, I won’t hold anything back. Most likely I’ll try to safejump to see if he’ll block on wakeup or dp. That’s been the death of me in the past, but I’m much better at picking up the signs and punishing them for wakeup dps now. If I do get dp’d, then it’s back to square 1.
I like to away to jump in right to see if they can anti air, also liketo go for tons of throws to seeif they can tech them or not
