You think you'd be better with a stick

haha the d-pad does that, i dont think I’ll ever break off my saturn usb though.

I’m a pad warrior as well, and am terrible on stick.

I have two FS3’s and two T5 sticks an couldn’t do anything on them, but I blamed it on the sticks. I just got 2 TE sticks yesterday and, though they are definitely superior and I can pull off moves easier, I still suck with them.

Like, short short super eludes me as to how it works on a stick, either i do it too fast or too slow or just incorrectly or whatever, but I’m terrible at HDR.

Anybody have any tips besides “practice” or know of any videos that show SF combos being performed with a look at the hands performing them? Thanks in advance.

be nice to swtich from 360 pad to stick,i cant pull a super off with dhal to save my life looking into getting a stick not sure if i can go custom or get massystems stick

after almost a week with the stick, im sayin its insanely amazing everything is so much more fluid and easy to do

anyone who is thinking about a stick get one, or the fightpad if you have to be a controller user. either or is a better investment

I felt it was pretty easy to transition back and forth from Dpad and stick playing HD-Remix, but when it comes to SF4, I literally Could not do any FADCs > ultras on dpads whereas on the stick I at least am able to get it down some of the time.

I’m also a long time dpad user and barely got my TE stick a few days ago… Prior to practice on my friends HRAP2SA a month ago I’ve had no stick experience my entire life, but I would never go back to DPAD for 2D fighters

I’m in the same boat. Just got a stick and i’m pretty awful compared to what I was able to pull on d-pad for ps3. However, i’m definitely able to hit fireballs much easier. I’m still having trouble with dragon punches. I can pull them off in training but when matches come i’m missing them all the time… might just be that i try to rush the inputs or something. I’ve been using it for about 4 days now and i don’t expect to get good with it for a couple more weeks… however i’m definitely improving day by day so i’d say stick with it.

I’m so anxious to get the SF4 stick already.

Like a lot of you guys, i’ve only played SF with a pad since I was a kid. I just got into SF with the release of HD Remix and cannot wait to play SF4.I did get a chance to play it. At Planet Zero here in Houston. It was horrible. I have no idea how to control the joystick. And the dudes there play as if they’ve owned the game forever.

I’ve noticed people hold their sticks differently. Some hold it in between their fingers with palm facing up, and some criss-cross their hands. Is there really a better way to play? Sounds very ignorant, but I haven’t had the opportunity to try since everyone is so good at Planet Zero ._.

joysticks vs pads

I’ve only been playing SSFIIHD with a hori stick… but I’d ratehr have a pad so long as it has 6 face buttons. Faster to move a thumb than a whole arm. Ya’ know?

As for hand positon on the stick… it’s all personal.
