Based on what people are reporting, and what they did in the PAST majority of the time, altering the hues, making a stage “night” or “day”, maybe removing/throwing in a random character or 2 in the background, doesnt warrent it a NEW stage.
ggxx 3rd strike
!!!
I haven’t read the list, but of the 3 vids released, only one (I-No’s) looks the same. The backgrounds in the Ky vs Millia and Pot vs Millia vids look new, if not extremely different.
EDIT: I hear May’s is pretty much the same, ship has landed or some shit. Maybe I should have said not all backgrounds are the same.

We definitely cant say they are new until some better screens/vids come out. Even they are, seeing as that you spotted an identical level already reinforces my point.
Lets say they add, 3 new stages, among the bug fixes, a few new moves, gameplay alterations, etc etc etc. It’s still the same game. Not like - SF1 to SF2, to SF3. Or, VF, to VF2, to VF3. Hell, or even Guilty Gear, to Guilty Gear X. These series of games (##R Blue Accent Dash + Alpha whatever.com), are just jumps akin to SF2–>SSF2, where new moves, etc were added. New stages, yes, hell, 4 new characters. But its still Street Fighter 2.
All in all, these are still, Guilty Gear XX games. Dont get me wrong, I will be playing this, just like I played every other one. But I will still speak my mind on the fact that these revisions/updates could be handled better. But hell, they already made this a great game/game series as it is.
EDIT: People at Dustloop are reporting Judgement and Raven in the game. So, I dont know what to believe. I’ll wait until pics, and the what not come out later.
To me at least, when you start to introduce new system shit to the game, that’s where it begins to qualify as a new game. There are three relatively major system changes in the addition of EX moves that use meter, a pseudo-parry system, and throw breaks. All three of these have the potential to totally change how the game plays. It’s not just new moves plus slight alterations to existing system features. The character changes seem fairly massive so far. ASW has only made these kinds of additions when they feel they are making a new game. GG to GGX introduced Roman Cancelling and overhauled the game entirely. GGX to GGXX, you get FRCs, Burst, button reassignment (Dust gets its own button, everyone gets an air Dust), along with new moves/new characters/new look. Now with AC, we’re getting three new system features, totally revamped user interface, huge number of character changes AND the game looks even faster. This is all from just the first loketest, Slash went through several loketests and had tons of stuff changed/added/removed. Just give it some time and don’t be so quick to say “lol rehash”. SF2 never really got as deep into it as this.
I think a lot of people (not saying anyone here in particular) won’t consider it an entirely new GG until the sprites are all redrawn. However, if an entirely new GG is what Arc is going for, then it wouldn’t hurt them to take the XX out of the title.

I don’t get why they’re keeping that XX. If this is really such a different game, it shouldn’t have that…
Seriously…what’s in a name?
dunno why people are saying theres no new stages. ky’s seems to be a rework of his old x stage andmillia and pot wwere in a new stage that looks somewhat like a isuka stage. There will be new charcters but they will not be playavle in the first betas. i wouldn’t rely on any peoples translastion for now. theres gonna be alot of fake info going around im just taking what marlin says as the true changes for now. alot of other stuff just seems ridiculos.
everything & nothing
GGX to GGX2 was a sequel not a revision =. I’d equate that from A2->A3 or something like that. And Isuka isn’t a GGX2 game either…It’s not a revision of X2. There isn’t even a X2 in the title.
Considering the trend of previous games, I am sure this will have new characters. It’s already much more of a revision then X2->#R or #R->/…Probably even X2->/.
Judgment is a random boss character from a side-game so I’d be relatively surprised if he made it in. I knew that sounded kinda kooky.
I’m thinking Judgment will end up making the cut. Hell, ABA is in Slash. Why shouldn’t Judgment be in Core?
GGX to GGXX was both a sequel and a revision. It’s a sequel because it progresses the story, and it was a (major) revision because it totally introduced new game play elements (FRCs, D as its own button, Blue and Gold burst, etc.).
GGX 1.5 was actually very “close” to what GGXX was. What you have now (Accent Core, which happens to have lots of new game play elements) can be a precursor to GG XXX (?).
Don’t hold your breath, though.
noooo robo ky!!
Dustloop says "he’s in there, biznitch!
I didn’t mean the game was actually Fake, shit, i watched the videos, just looked cheesy to me, like it was a mod made by some crazed fan. And before you say anything, I know its not a mod made by some crazed fan, thats JUST what it looks like to me, and sounds like.
you are an idiot
You just know they’re gonna make a HSFAE-type combined revision. I hope it gets a US port.
How about actually addressing the point instead of starting shit, here let me show you:
Remember that it’s still the first beta test of the game, so the backgrounds/character selection are still going to look rough around the edges. If I remember correctly it wasn’t until the last or second-to-last Slash beta that we even got to see the new backgrounds in that game, so there’s probably still a lot to be completed.
This game is GGXXX, or it might as well be. Just because there is no third X in the title doesn’t mean “zomg not a sequel, rehash!1”. In the past, the criteria for being a sequel in GG has been…
Additions:
- New voices
- New stages or huge stage alterations
- New character art and new character select screen
- New music
- Countless graphical changes and reanimations
- New moves for every character
- Some characters are nearly being rebuilt from the ground up from previous versions (Eddie, Johnny, Slayer, Ky, Sol).
- 3 New Major System modifications, including,
- Slash Back attack
- Throw breaking/techs
- EX moves/Force Break
- A whole new state of hitstun, sliding. Similar to how stagger was added in GGXX.
I mean, are people bitter that Slash just came out? Do they need new characters? I’m sure they’ll add them before the end of this game’s beta testing. How can people NOT see that this game is basically X3? Sure there’s no extra X, but even the logo has been changed. I think the “X3” that people might be looking for/waiting for is the conclusion to the story of the game, and that’s probably why people might be whining about it.
Also, if you really want to follow the “Street Fighter II timeline”, it would be:
- World Warrior = GGX
- Champion Edition = GGXX
- Hyper Fighting = GGXX#R
- Super Street Fighter II = GGXX/
- Super Turbo = Guilty Gear: Accent Core
Also, with more and more characters getting moves from their EX moveset, I’m really starting to believe that this is the game they’ve been working towards for a while now. May now has Jackhound, Millia has air discs, Eddie has air drills, Ky has his followup from his EX DP, I-no got VCL in Slash.
Who knows, Slash is probably the precursor to AC. Demand for the game probably led them to release Slash as a mod for GGXX just to start the crowd feedback cycle. Slash’s mainstay release was also a good way for them to tone up a lot of the bottom tier #R characters and get an idea of what people like to see in terms of strengths for their characters, and who needed reworking entirely. Slash is too new, WAY too new, for them to not have had this shit planned out beforehand.
