If it was endless battle maybe… but what does BP or PP mean to you? is it really a measure of skill? i have fought Ryus, Goukens, Rogs at well above 10,000BP and they have been complete garbage, i would wreck them at a measly 2000 BP/PP. Does that make me some sort of fighting game prodigy? No it doesn’t. As a Dudley player online I’ve been stuck in between 5000 and 6000 BP and I do all right. It certainly doesn’t mean that people with 15000 BP is better than me and will completely stomp me, nor does it mean that i can easily beat someone with 500 BP.
One could argue that online is good for matchup experience and this is true to a certain extent, If you are fighting the right people. Ranked Battle is peppered with so many scrubs that have gained so much BP and PP from destroying other scrubs with spam DP and spam ultra. Tick throws are gdlk online due to the few frames of lag that trying to jab out of it is a 50/50 chance. Not to mention a strategy that you use online that works online will probably not get you far in a tournament that actually has really good players or even semi good players.
a good example is any normal cancelled into an empty duck to a throw works for me beautifully online, 5 or 6 times in a row. When i play the people i play locally, they catch on to that stuff pretty quickly. Online is useful when you look at endless battle because you can choose who you fight, you can choose people who have actual skill, who can offer actual constructive criticism, people who can actually help you better. The people on ranked don’t give a damn about your skill, all they care about is points and thats it.
