Ye Olde English Pub: The Dudley Social

Too many new Dudleys online. Lots of dropped target combos (how is that even possible without having a flipper for a hand. Actually, it’s still possible with that) and random MGBs. So fun. I love streams but all the impressionable people make them a tad annoying. If an “obscure” character is used to good effect the floodgates open for a few days.

Hopefully a good Hakan doesn’t show up to SoCal Regionals. Oil slides for days afterwards…

Marn’s recent blog entry was on the front page of SRK for a little bit

Evil Geniuses - myEG.net

It’s been taken down though, not sure why.

Between school, work, woman, and an internship, i have had zero time to play the game at all. I’m looking forward to getting online tomorrow though. (complete day off…finally)

Baiting and punishing is gonna be mindless tomorrow. haha

Marn’s got a point in his blog entry. I’m not a fan of all the trash talking but I’m not gonna criticize him on it cause that’s how he is and who am I to tell someone else how to act. Not cause he’s Marn, but because he’s a human being. But yeah, everyone puts Wong and Daigo up on a pedastal, hell even people are putting Marn and Gamerbee up on pedastals too. Me, they’re just someone else to take down (=P no offense guys). I respect them for their skill, but they are just the obstacles i have to climb over to be the best.

I wish more people in the FG community had this mentality.

Hey, it’s not like i was on here going…“Come on Marn, really?”

I just sat back and laughed. Hell, i even laughed when people got up frustrated after losing to Gamerbee and he just sat there, looking up and smiling. I’m pretty sure i got a screen cap somewhere, i’ll post it up later i guess.

…sigh… online still sucks. I need to add something to my mixup game. its getting soooooooooooooooo stale.

I’ve been playing a lot for patiently, feeling out my opponent without sacrificing too much pressure. Still get hit by wake up DPs and throws a little too often but it’s whatever.

Getting better at not letting a lose get to me, strengthening my mental a lot by trying to get discouraged by dropped combos or random shit people tend to do online.

So guys, I finally sat down at way too late this evening and hooked up my PS3 to my new computer monitor and have been playing some games and I have not lost my touch even if I’ve been out of the loop for like 2 weeks. I’m holding my own quite well and winning against some fairly good opponents. Just need to get my combos back on par.

With all that’s going on, and the little time i have to play, i feel like my flow is greatly affected when i pick up the sticks for the first time in a long time.

Like last night, i sat down and played with my friend who’s still more or less new to the game. Initially, my reaction with Dudley suffers a bit, my combos drop, and i find myself over thinking leading to an almost defensive Dudley. Granted it all comes back to me after a few games or so, but it’s still a tiny bit disheartening. I really wish i had more time to dedicate to the game. Maybe just setting aside a few minutes in training before playing will prevent this feeling.

Anyone else ever have this happen?

Cokkles, there is a tournament this weekend in Hickory. Go to it, I’m interested in how you do.

Aye, I heard. I’m guttertrash at the moment since I’ve been out of the loop but I’ll see what I can do. :stuck_out_tongue:

Last few weeks I’ve only been able to play on Friday and Saturday evenings, so I spend like 30 minutes-1 hour practicing links, combos and meaties and the other hour or so playing a few games online.

Marn blogging some more.

Best online session yet. I really do like seeing myself improve before my own eyes.

When I was done, I watched my older replays and my newer ones to see what I’m doing different.

Patience and intelligence.

But I will not let myself get comfortable with this. I will keep going in 100% and pushing myself and improving.

Aye, did a tournament today and got a couple of wins. We did round robin and I got 3 wins I do believe. Which isn’t bad considering the turnout was a bit low. But I feel that the tournament really showed a few things I need to work on. I did manage to beat the one guy who was undefeated by everyone else, Ryu player as well. Nailed him three times with Rolling Thunder since he wanted to test my reactions. Too bad my execution killed me in the other games D:

Can someone post pics of Duds new alt colors? They don’t need to be high res. I just want to see if there’s a cool and/or silly color because the default color isn’t convincing me to buy. Thanks.

This is how most players break through that mid-upper level plateau. Being patient is one of the hardest things in this game (for me anyways), and playing a character like Dudley, who is so exciting to hit buttons with, makes it even more difficult

anybody going to miami november 6th and 7th? ill be there. Someone give me some pointers on how to beat arturo sanchez. GOD DAMN SIM. i know ill get him first match in bracket or be in his pool, i know it.

You don’t want to be TOO patient though. Nothing worse then a Dudley with no patience is a a Dudley with all the patience in the world. He is not meant to be played very defensively.
