Yatagarasu: Attack on Cataclysm, IndieGoGo campaign thread

Nice, new character. Wish them the best of luck hitting that target goal. Still quite a ways to go.

The more I play this game, the more reasons I find to like it. It’s getting close to crack-status for me now. Been breaking down the engine bit by bit, trying to develop tech, analyzing jp match vids (some of their players are really ahead of the game btw), and netplaying like mad.

Two sets of insane Hanzo and Shimo gameplay below. If you don’t have a nicodouga account just google “nico redirector”, “mmcafe” and it should send you to a page where you can copy/paste the urls provided for your viewing pleasure…Be sure to have napkins set aside. :wow:

Solid game, seriously. Really hope there’s a future for it.

EDIT:
Anyone know the significance behind “omit idol”? Seems to have to do with maybe dash canceling recovery from certain moves? I can get it to pop up (in training) a few times and even obtain higher levels but I’m not sure of its purpose.

Also, to anyone who contacts the devs w/ english queries and comments could you please inquire about any available frame data? would appreciate that.

Frame data is a reward tier on the IndieGoGo.

Omit thing shows number of frames wasted between linked moves. I think it shows only 0,1,2 frames you wasted, because game has 3-frames startups (still it would be nice if it could show 3 & 4 because most of the light attacks has 4 & 5 frames startups.)

Okay, so I’ve been playing an older version (I think 4.1) so my info might be a little off. In addition to how Parrying works I really don’t care for the Guard Break. It just seems tacked on because SF4 had focus attacks. Personally, I would want to see them completely removed or radically changed. It doesn’t seem like they’re used very much at high level play in the vids I’ve seen.

It doesn’t seem to have the 3S priority system. Where throws beat command grabs, jabs beat throws at a slight distance (depends on the character too, especially with Chun’s 1 frame jab) and etc.

Been messing around with Chadha. I get a strong Alex vibe from him. Dropkick doesn’t look like a good AA, I do like that it beats the Shoto’s fireballs. Looks like his better AA’s are his stC, premptive stD, stA, his Punch, or AA Grab Super. His main problem is getting in but they gave him just enough tools to help him out plus big damage. BNB is jump in C/D, crC, A Punch. Doesn’t do as much damage as opposed to ending with the Drop Kick or EX Punch into AA Grab Super but puts him in a good spot to grab and maintain pressure. Looks like using his EX’s is the way to go.

God I wish he had Half Circle grabs…

Edit: I just tried Hanzo. Really digging her. Easily the most unique character by far even if she has the Twins’ dive kicks and a nerfed Chun Super complete with a SJ cancel at the end. Wish her command grab did more damage but otherwise I like her.

…Aw crap, you’re right lol. 150 ffffff-

Version number is in upper-left corner when you open it in windows mode. Also, universal guard break mechanics have been around since before SF4 (e.g. [power mode] Last Blade 2, The Rumble Fish 2). GB has just the right amount of functionality I feel. It yields just enough advantage to slip in a quick attack but not enough to get in a full-fledged combo. Very useful in clutch situations and you probably won’t see it too often as most responses after GB require quick use of EXs or Supers to get the most out of it.

Yeah, he feels like a beefed up Hugo (dp+p functions like Hugo clap yielding +F, 360p and running 360) that gained Alex’s mobility. For his bnb you can sub crC, dpA with crD, dpA as well. And his ex’s are indeed strong - 360kk has some insane armor.

Haha just do a bit more work, it’s totally worth it. After 360p he can dash then super jump forward to easily close the gap and setup for a deep jump in OR whiff go low with crD OR setup another 360p (with a parry buffered in there for people mashing on wakeup lol). He’s even more ridiculous when opponent is positioned in corner. It’s a bit too much for just a simple 360 if you ask me but it is what it is.

I can do 360’s but it’s always that one time that I really, really need it to come out and the fighting game gods say “No! You get to jump instead!” Story of my life and 360’s. I still think he’s pretty generic but his EX grabs make him feel a little different from the usual stock grappler. EX jumping grab is a welcome addition too. I’d still be up for some slight changes to him. He doesn’t need much. Chadha is probably the least generic of all the generic characters.

Also kinda’ digging Shimo. The Hibiki influence is strong but she’s not exactly like Hibiki (at least CVS2 Hibiki) and even though she’s a headswap with the other Sword chick at least they play significantly different especially when compared to the Shoto’s.

So I revise my previous statement in the other thread that the game has all generic seen it all before characters. At least half the cast are totally generic. Hanzo is just fucking amazing. I think I’ll main her and Chadha.

PS: I pronounce Chadha’s name as “Chow-dah!”

Edit: @MikuruX Possibility of ahem mentioning to the producer the benefits of adding jump protection to 360’s? Just throwing it out there. Also, a color editor ala KOF 13.

Why does Azure have two right hands?

Because shut up.

He doesn’t, his left thumb is just in a really strange/awkward position.

Frame Data being a 150$ reward is probably the stupidest anti community thing i have ever seen.

It comes with a bunch of other shit apparently:

Deluxe Pack

A deluxe pack which includes all of the below items.

-Full color artbook (physical)
-Frame data book (digital). A book of frame data for all the characters.
-Yatagarasu Complete Set (digital). A complete set of all seven previous releases of Yatagarasu, from the Ver1 that was released in 2008 to the current Ver4.3.
-A doujinshi (self-published comic) by Kotani:Tomoyuki (digital). A digital reprint of a doujinshi created by Kotani:Tomoyuki.

So this game has “Replay TV” where replays of players are collected (or submitted, I think) to a Yatagarasu network or the like. Some really excellent, quality matches archived in there that kept me entertained for a couple hours. Really worth a look-see, gave me a bunch of great ideas and insight to how most of the cast can be used.

If we have to vote for a character lets vote for monster dude. I think that he would add the most uniqueness to the game

I think Qadl will be among the 2 new characters. Cheesecake gets votes. Just look at Eliza in Skullgirls. I think the monster dude will play a little like Mukuro from Last Blade.

If so, I’m hype. But, I think Azure will get the vote. Monster dudes are typically not very popular.

How do you access Replay TV?

Frame data no matter how you look at it is a luxury and they need to give some kind of incentive to donate. Do you NEED frame data to play the game? No, so I don’t see how it’s anti-community. It’s not like the community wouldn’t figure it out or spread the info anyways. Anti community would be not having online, RANDOM frame data, things that actually make the game unplayable or stop people from playing together.

Azure isn’t a vote in character. If their funding is successful, Azure and Kazama Kotaro are getting in guaranteed. The OTHER 4 characters are the vote in characters as stretch goals.

Access Replay TV by selecting “replay” option on title screen menu. It’s the first option when the replay menu opens up. Inside is just a huge archive of replays (10 pages).

On another note, the online record/ranking is pretty cool. Shows lists of best players, their records, most popular characters, best player for each character, win:lose ratio for characters, etc. Fun stuff for people who like to eyeball stats, misc. data, and digits. Hope yatagarasu gets some small underground following in the states. I’d be content w/ a local 8man community for this (a specialist for each character!).

It’s anti community because of the rationale behind it.

A lot of companies simply say “No we are not releasing it” such as Namco.
If they instead said “You can have it if you pay us 150$” the reaction would be very different.

One is saying that they don’t want to release it for X reason and the other is willing and have it readily available to give away but only if you pay them.

I’m not saying that the companies that do not release it all are any more “pro-community” (What a stupid fucking word) but i find no rationale for putting it behind a pay wall
(Especially a 150$ one) if they are willing to release it themselves.

The anti community comes from the fact that it’s not a hands off approach to the community but rather a predatory approach because they know it’s something the community will want
to save themselves tons of time in both learning the characters and making the the community overall better.

In terms of the mentality the company seems to have i would rather they simply didn’t release it in that case.

Say’s the guy who thinks Parries destroy fundamentals.

We’ll find it out anyways. SF4’s framedata was in guides before but i bet damnwell that you never paid for one and you have access to all the vega framedata you want.

The rationale is that they’re running a fucking DONATION DRIVE to improve the game. If they had a publisher and had funding do you think they would charge $150 for frame data? Of course not, but if they had that THEY WOULDN’T NEED AN INDIEGOGO CAMPAIGN. You’re not paying $150 for frame data, you’re DONATING $150 to help fund the project and you are getting something as a GIFT, a token of appreciation for DONATING. If they were flat out selling the frame data that would be a different situation, but this is not that situation.

Anti community would be something that works against the community. Things that stop people from being a community at all or hinder that in some way. Taking down streams of your game for copyright reasons is anti community. Having youtube accounts banned for uploading content for your game would be anti community. Setting frame data, what is already a luxury and unimportant piece of information, at a high reward tier for a god damn donation project is not anti community. I would consider not making any frame data available at all MORE anti community.

If you don’t want to pay for it then don’t, no one is forcing you to spend that kind of money. And I guarantee that information is going to be made public anyways, so it’s not even going to affect you. The frame data is a gift for a generous donation, not what you’re donating for, you’re donating so that they can actually make the game in the first place. Without the game the frame data is irrelevant, and donating more to make the game a reality is given thanks to. You’re looking at the situation entirely wrong, and frankly, it’s pretty stupid.

Gotcha. In that case Qadl and monster dude will take it.
