Lol dont worry about it. Just come see me in GGPO ;D
Also people netplaying NEED TO LEARN HOW TO PORT FORWARD AAAGGGGH. And use “O” key or “P” key to ADJUST DELAY. If your having massive lag then adjust the delay. If you’re living anywhere not in japan then you should definitely be running Delay 2-4. If you got janky net then D5 :(.
Here’s settings ive been messing around with so far:
ping
10-20ms – Delay 1-2
30-80ms – Delay 3
90-110ms - Delay 4
Any ping higher than that, I suggest you pray to the poverty gods for some better nets or find players IN YOUR AREA.
*Basically more delay smooths out frame rate but increases input delay.
From asking all my friends about the netcode. The threshold is around 100 ms with 3 frames delay for optimal play. Sadly I’m getting around 100=150 ms with everybody
Wait a min, you can adjust your delay? So does this work similar to ggpo if I only want to play on a delay of 1 against someone with a ping of 80 where it’ll have some frame skipping but still “playable”?
Also 2 things that kind of irk me. The style of the game. Looks way too anime-ish. I’m really not a fan of the whole anime aesthetic, but I guess that’s what’s in nowadays. Secondly, the ggpo drive. I feel like they should be trying to present the best gameplay experience possible, meaning the addition of ggpo shouldn’t hinge on them making a few more thousand dollars. Especially since they are trying to market this outside of Japan. The ONLY reason I’ve become interested in this game is because I heard it would use GGPO. I’m pretty hesitant at donating money because of this, but most likely will at some point.
Yeah, it’s really anime… Totally Arcana and Melty up in here…
Anywho, I think there’s a chance that they’ll use GGPO anyway but it depends. Maybe Ponder will give it to them for nothing? Or they’ll work out a deal? Who knows.
I think the whole “I’m hesitant to donate unless it has _______” mentality is really dumb. You’re afraid to donate because you don’t know if it’ll have GGPO? Well guess what, if you don’t donate you make the chances of it not using GGPO that much higher. You practically doom the game to the fate you don’t want. If you want the game to have GGPO the best thing you can do is donate so the game can reach that stretch goal and then you won’t have to worry.
Cali plays CVS2 and 3S and both of those games are pretty anime. I think it’s just the whole trailer and the female characters that really add to the animeness for him.
I honestly don’t really have much interest in this game. When I look at it, it just makes me want to play 3rd Strike instead. I’ll probably donate a few dollars just out of sheer acknowledgement of the people who do like it though.
They pretty much all are anime in some way. SF2 was maybe a little less anime…but one look at Cammy’s portrait in Super SF2 with her big blue eyes and Sailor Senshi hair and it’s obvious right there.
Games like Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct can bypass the whole anime thing due to not using the typical anime cartoon sprite drawings. Street Fighter Alpha was the start of the “anime” route with SF which was obviously taken from what they already started with Darkstalkers.
Funny enough, Killer Instinct added a few subtle details to Jago and the artwork (a little bit more lighter graphic design, Jago’s hair is slicked back) and now you got old KI fans going “OMG this is Anime Instinct/Killer Street Fighter!!!”
In the case of MK you can argue, that MK is way more “weeaboo” seeing their character roster has like 10 ninjas with different colors, the big bad wears a samurai clothing, and most of the gods are named in Japanese like Raiden and Fujin
You missed my point. I’m saying that I don’t feel like I should have to donate in order for them to include ggpo. A decent online experience should come first and foremost especially if they want people outside of Japan playing. Extra characters and such should come second. Like I said before, I will probably donate anyways but GGPO was the selling point for me and is actually the only way that I can get over the heavy anime character designs. I would have zero interest in this game if it wasn’t for ggpo. Honestly I care more about ggpo proliferation than the game itself and since it looks like they may not reach the goal it may not be worth donating anyways. We’ll see what happens in a couple of days.
I didn’t miss your point, I don’t agree with your mentality. GGPO is not a free netcode anyone can just copy/paste and drop into their game. There is a licensing fee, and more importantly there is time and money needed to spend coding, implementing, and testing what GGPO does to the game. Additionally, this is a dev team of 3 people, one of which is not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination and can’t help with the implementation or testing. GGPO being the default free netcode to be shipped with the game is flat out not an option. Furthermore, they were working on the offline experience above all else, which is what I would rather see, because if the offline game is jank who cares if it has GGPO, no one is going to play it anyways.
Online experience should absolutely not come first, offline should come first, and when your game is solid and worth playing THEN you worry about online. And that’s exactly what the stretch goals reflect, the primary goal is to get the game funded so they can add all this new content and the very first stretch goal before anything else is GGPO. And as I said in my first post, the chances of them NOT reaching that stretch goal are increased by you NOT donating. You care more about the proliferation of GGPO than the game, yet you’re not helping the game get GGPO. Do you not see how this is backwards? From the sounds of it I’m not even sure why you bothered posting in the thread because it doesn’t sound like you’re even going to play the game ever if it has GGPO or not. If you don’t care about the game, why bother?
I’ll play the game if it has ggpo. I understand it takes time and money, but I’d rather the time and money be spent on a good online experience rather than extra characters. They are autonomous beings, not robots. They have the ability to prioritize certain aspects of the games development. At the very least, they acknowledged that our net here is horrible, and are considering ggpo.
I know I’m being pessimistic by saying this but the game will probably have most of its following online. It’ll be like every other game released nowadays and be overshadowed by sf4 at events. It’s a given the game will play fine offline, I’m not worried about that. Anyways we can end the disagreement with your response.
I would like to make it to the 85k goal. The characters are a bit too similar to the characters they are inspired from. I’d like to see what they could come up with. The further this game separates itself from SF while remaining it’s own thing the better
