Yang Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

I think it’s “nmot”

That’s Nemo. As of this post he’s ranked ~50 on the yang leaderboard.

Does our lk Dragon Punch not catch neutral jump ins? Just had a very frustrating time against a Cody.

It can. I’ve caught Codys doing nj.hp with LK DP before. I personally haven’t had a problem with it; just hit training mode and see if it’s a timing issue on your half.

What do you guys think…Is it better to burn ex meter for his fadc mixups, fadc ultras, etc,or is it better to save it for seiei enbu combos?

ATM, FADCs and some EXes. Probably will change later dependent on the match-up and Seiei-Enbu loops found. Just too early to tell.

what is yang’s anti-air normal moves??

If you’d scroll up, in the last 15 or so posts, this question has been answered 2 or 3 times.

LK DP, s.hk, s.mk, jump back or neutral jump hk. No particular order.

Man the AA question again…

Anyway, meter management is really interesting with Yang. Personally, I hardly ever use Seien Enbu, but that’s probably not good…it’s just I can’t do the corner loop like 80% of the time and definetly need to work on that. I use it mostly for FADC launcher after second slash, since his BnB does crappy damage and puts the opponent very far away from you (unlike Yun, who can immediatly continue pressure). With the FADC it does slightly less crappy damage and opens a mixup.

Other than that I use ex command grab quite a bit, since it has ridiculous range and is throw immune; ex palm for corner combos (from stun and focus only) and the best gimmick in the world, make them block an ex slash, don’t follow up and immediatly do command grab. Works 120% of the time.

That’s why if you can hit confirm, you go into MK Roll Kick rather than Rekkas. Less damage but better oki positioning.

Problem is that mk roll kick doesn’t combo from cr.lk x3, which is my main bnb =(. In the rare occasions I get to confirm the opponent standing and started the string with cr.lp, I definetly do s.lp, cr.mk, DP. That works amazingly since apparently no one expects a cross up from one of the twins lol.

Fun FADC: dive kick, cl.mp, cr.mk xx HP rekka, HP rekka FADC cr.lp, cr.lp (tick throw) command grab, cl.mp, cr.mk xx rekkas.

Works well for me. Maybe it’ll work for you. :3

Can we get the OP updated? Just copy and paste this shit:

What are Yang’s best anti-airs?
LK Roll kick, s.mk, s.hk, neutral jump and jump back hk, and cl.hp with no particular order.

I’m struggling with Yang’s HP Mantis Slash x2 FADC U1; tips?
There’s no magic answer that’ll help your execution; just hit training mode and work on it. However, attempt to FADC the second rekka as early as possible and buffer your QCF x2 during the dash.

If you’re still struggling with FADCing straight into U1, you can do HP rekka x2 FADC cl.mk, dash, U1 (or just cl.mk, U2; no dash). This puts more scaling on the ultra (see: less damage) but it might be easier for you to hit.

What are some combos I need to work on/should learn?
I’d suggest learning at least a hit confirm, a punish, and a combo into ultra. There’s a list of combos and explanations in the combo thread, also on this board.

Is it best to use my meter on EX moves, FADCs, or Seiei-Enbu (Super)?
Dependent on the player and the match-up. Yang has several useful EX moves. For example, EX dash is hit immune and projectile immune for the first 15 frames (but not throw immune; think Abel’s roll) and can help escape pressure and/or corners.

Yang’s bread and butter combos really don’t do that much damage (around 200, usually). So, FADCs allow him to do extra damage or avoid being punished for an unsafe move (usually 2 rekkas or a roll kick). They also provide Yang a solid way to land his ultra.

Super loops have the ability to do a large amount of damage. The question about using Yang’s super is if you’d be better off using EX moves and/or FADCs instead of his super. If you’d get more damage by performing two FADC combos, don’t bother using super.

can anyone give me any tips on how to land st.mk after a FADC rekka? it always gets blocked and I see people do this a lot.

I tried plinking a bit but never got anywhere

fadc rekka earlier, hit mk earlier than you think you have to.

Attempt to FADC the second rekka as early as possible; plink the cl.mk.

Double tap works well too, do it right after Yang recovers from the dash. Try to do it visually.

What the eff are you supposed to do against honda?

I imagine palm would stuff his headbutts which should help.

Better to ask this in the match-up thread, friend.

HAV’s got a decent safe jump off a sweep, but that’s a one-frame link.

A lot of it is getting in close slowly. Just don’t take stupid damage getting in.

But that applies to everyone. x3;

Go to the lab and see if meaty palm beats Honda’s wake-up options outside of his EX moves. I have a feeling it does.

How many frames is Yangs ultra 1? I know you can safe jump it but every time I try I get hit, I recorded viper doing the safe jump and tested it on other characters to see if my timing was good but when I played it back against yang she always got hit, if his U1 is like 4 frames or something I won’t bother trying to safe jump it especially online.

It’s not 4 frames otherwise Yang with an Ultra would be deadly everywhere because he could combo off of command grab with that (well, he can now, but he needs to do cl.MK shenanigans first or link it off of far.LP which dilutes it due to scaling) not to mention almost every one of his normals.

It’s a one frame link with f.LP. Figure out the frames from that (I would, but I forgot).
