Yang Everything

Fanciest combo I’ve done is cross-up j.mk xx dive kick, mp, hp, b+hp XX SAII

I’m having trouble comboing off of the dive kick though… is it like jump attacks where you have to be in deep to really combo off of it?

Practice without the air chain first. You need to aim your dive kick so that it barely hits their shins (not a cross-up), so you have enough time to combo the strong when you land.

On another note, the hardest yang combo do to for me is close forward, super jump cancel raishin mahakken, for full hits. A close second is c. strong, SAII link on a standing opponent. I actually did it once in a match though

Actually, when I made my strongest 3s combos site a long time ago, I figured out that s. forward, then SAI is his most powerful combo with that super. You don’t have to sj cancel anything. You just wait for them to fall, and there’s a perfect distance where you will get pretty much all the hits, and basically all the damage. Try it out.

great combo

The best i can get with close forward, wait for them to fall has to be in the corner for decent hits and even then it’s only 53 damage. I can get 67 damage comboing off three crouching jabs, 63 off the standing strong, 62 off the low forward and 59 off the close fierce.

About that close forward into SAI for full hits. Have you ever did that before because I tried it a couple of times the other day just to see how fast you gotta super cancel that shit.

It turns out that you gotta super cancel that like nutso speed… i never actually gotten it even close to getting full hits

try it on hugo or chunli. it might improve the outcome. i’m not certain but it seems like most of 3s combos work great on those two chars. hugo for his size. chun for her fall speed. in any case…

go yang go…go blue yang…

I’ve never actually done it, I have a video of it, and I’ve seen my friend do it once out of many many tries. You have to do it so fast that the super has to hit before they leave the ground, and the super has a 3 frame start up. IMO it’s the ultimate showboat combo for yang, it’s hard as hell to do, and it’s not that useful, since the super cancels easily from a number of other standing attacks.

EDIT The super is more like 8 frames of startup :frowning:

Crouching Strong link into Tenshin works on standing characters??? i’m guessing it’s WAAAAY harder as opposed to doing it like Mopreme did in his video, hmm?

Question for anyone who’d care to answer:

In Shirube, i see Blue Yang do low MP -> standing LK -> EX Torou Zan. Does this work much the same way as close standing MP -> standing LK -> EX Torou Zan does? i think it may since (also in Shirube) i saw K.O. do low MP -> standing LK -> lunge punch thing with Yun.

Yeah c. strong link into tenshin on a standing opponent only gives you a 1 frame window, it’s tough. I don’t think it’s possible to link yang’s c. strong into standing short, where in shirube did you see it? Yun’s low strong does WAY more hit stun that yang’s. That yun combo sounds very possible, although sort of pointless.

was the crouching mp really meaty because you can do a whole bunch of shit with yang when you do meaty moves. The other day i comboed the UOH into Rolling kick so i’m thinking if I time it well enough I can UOH into s.mp and then chops or whatever. Still I think it’s a good skill/trick to know.

The reason you can do that with the UOH is because it has several hit frames, so if you do it meaty on wakeup you can skip frames, and recover faster. The crouching strong only has 1 hitframe, so it wouldn’t really matter if it was meaty or not, it still depends on the hit frame advantage (+3 on standing, and +4 on crouching), and how fast the short comes out (4 frames). Technically it shouldn’t be possible, even crouching because the result is 0 frame advantage. However it could be possible in the arcade since this frame data is for the DC game, but i seriously doubt that it works, I’m rewatching shirube when I get home. I’m a big yang fan and I don’t think I would have missed that, but maybe.

Streak:

Not to get you confused, because you might be looking for an instance where crouching MP -> standing LK -> EX Torou Zan worked, but in Blue Yang’s match against Oro (i think it’s in Shirube part 1), he tried to poke with crouching MP and immediately went into standing LK -> EX Torou Zan. Thing is, none of them connected. i know for sure that standing LK -> EX Torou Zan works because of the close standing MP -> standing LK link, and that’s why i was wondering whether you could initiate that sequence using crouching MP. Now that you’ve said that it’s probably not possible, i’m thinking Blue Yang just did that to bait Oro to get out of blocking (because apprently, crouching MP ticks into Yang’s command grab quite nicely) so standing LK -> EX Torou Zan would hit.

On another note, i’m guessing K.O. did crouching MP -> standing LK -> lunge punch just as a reaction to seeing the crouching MP connect. K.O. (and all good Yuns) do like to charge with crouching MP .

What’s Shirube?

It’s a japanese 3S tournament.

after s.mk i saw a video where someone superjump cancels it and then a dive kick im not sure length and then what appears to be a s.mk (still juggling this whole time) into a rollkick and then saII. How is this done?

The video is:
3S Japanese Ninjya (Yun) vs. Yosikiti (Chun-Li).mpg

Oh, ok! I was wondering what the heck ya’ll were talking about. Hehe. Can vids be downloaded from the SF Hub?

go for broke hub on direct connect find more information by searching the forum

This thread just grew so old that it stopped showing up on the default 30 days setting :frowning: So bump!

Hell I don’t mind reviving and old thread.

I just picked up 3s seriously for the first time in almost 2 years this week. Yang was the only character I ever learned way back when but I’m basically starting over from scratch. Considering GGXX is my drug of choice right now I think it’s going to be rough trying to learn 3s, but the Nebraska crew I play with are hardcore 3s players so I need something to do inbetween GGXX matches.

You seem like the Yang Vet around here Streak. What’s the best advice for a new Yang player. Basics and Bread and Butter would be a huge help.
